1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2025

Truck started leaking fuel and then the engine shut down the next day it was drove, while driving! I’ve received 2 quotes and need the whole fuel system replaced due to cp4 pump failing which will cost about $13,000! this is the same issue as the 24s78 Ford recall but my truck doesn’t fall in the correct year! I still owe 10k on this vehicle so it’s basically totaled now.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2021

Hold down clamps for the fuel injectors are breaking or coming loose on diesel engine. Injectors are not visible for a person to look at as they are buried by covers. Due to the injector coming loose it would allow combustion gasses to escape the cylinder causing other injectors to become damaged and possibly causing a fire. This issue has happened 2 times on my truck and both times the Ford technicians stated that it is not something that should happen. Vehicle was inspected/fixed by Ford dealership techs back in March of 2021 and again in may of 2021(still there at this time). A check engine light came on and I immediately drove to the dealership both times. I will provide a picture of a Ford tech site where they talk about this issue happening and their internal memo. Ford at this time refuses to fix the issue and is making me pay for their defective parts.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

2011 Ford f250 with 6. 7 liter diesel engine blew a fuel injector due to a broken hold down clamp. While being repaired, mechanic noticed two other clamps were cracked and they were replaced by upgraded clamps from Ford. Engine has 62k miles on it. Writer has seen numerous posts online from other owners with the same issue.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2020

Fuel filter exploded contaminating fuel system.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

Truck started getting bad fuel mileage and would not get up to speed very fast took truck to autozone and had codes read was reading p20bd and p20be so looked up VIN and it stated it had a recall on the def reductant heater which where the codes pulled up called and scheduled an appointment for it to get fixed at yaklin Ford in rich wood texas took it in for the recall and now they are trying to say it's not covered on recall and now when I look up my VIN the recall is gone what can I do truck only has 95000 miles.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

The fuel rail pressure sensor started spraying diesel fuel all over the top of the motor . The fuel is coming out of the top of the sensor . This is on 05/25/19 . . This truck only has 132214 on the mileage . I am getting tired of paying for a broken truck every week . Last week on 05/05/17/19 the inner cooler boot duct blew apart . That was a $480 fix .

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and power of the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that the fuel pressure pump blew out under the hood. The mechanic stated that the entire fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

Takata recall. Truck just shut down and died while driving. We tried to restart to move better location and only worked for few more feet. No warnings and whole fuel system has metal shavings in it and costing 11,000 to repair and Ford not recalling or covering any of the repair when they know this is an issue causing wrecks and even a distaster kit online for the problem with Ford trucks from 2011-2015. We have spoke with mutliple repair shops and our insurance and it is mechanical failure and happens alot with Ford and not a recall nor is Ford helping out customers that the mechanical failure is happening too. We only have 100,000 miles diseal truck and do all our maintence needed and Ford dealership stated as mechanical failure.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2017

7/7/17 - 2011 Ford f250, 6. 7l diesel engine, mileage 79530. (purchased December 2010). I was pulling a small trailer up an incline (8%) on I-64 in wv. On this portion of the interstate there was no emergency pull off shoulder. The truck operated normally for the first 3 miles ascending the hill. During the 4th mile, the truck began to gradually, but progressively lose power, going from 70 mph down to 0. At approximately 30 mph, the truck began to shutter slightly, and continued to do so until it stopped in the lane of traffic and stalled. There were no warning lamps or chimes that went off before the engine stalled. This vehicle is equipped with a stop safely now warning, along with many other warning indicators but it didn't illuminate. The truck would not restart. I immediately call 911 to report that my vehicle was disabled in the roadway. After being stuck in the lane of traffic for about 10 minutes, I was able to drift the truck and the trailer backwards safely, off of the roadway, into the drainage ditch, after a break in traffic. Upon having it towed to a Ford dealership, I was informed that it was going to need a motor, and it sounded like it had spun the bearings on one of the engine rods. The engine would restart at the Ford dealership, but idled very rough. I confirmed that there were in fact metal shavings in the oil. The fuel was not checked for contamination. This vehicle has been maintained according to Ford's recommended service guidelines. Because of the cost to me to repair ($16,000 or more), I've elected not to continue with diagnosis (at $120 per hour) to determine reason for failure. Again, there was no warning systems active at the time the engine stalled. This was an original owner, personal vehicle, and only towed a trailer on occasion. I have video from dash cam w/audio of this event.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2017

2011 Ford super shit, 6. 7l fire hazard, fuel injector hold down failure while idling in yard, spraying fuel all over place, towed to dealer, recommends replacing all hold downs do to faulty part. Tsp on it. . 1600. 00 not covered under warrenty 86000. Miles. Fire hazard. Glad I"m not the one that's going to burn in the super shit truck recommend you have Ford recall all 2011 6. 7 liters to replace the defective parts. Sell Ford stock. Fire professor and engineering students. Come on people really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2017

Due to faulty/snapped injector clamp, Ford TSB 14-0233, a fuel injector was blown out of my engine an sprayed fuel all over the engine bay. Fortunately for me I had just started the truck in my driveway so it was stationary and not hot.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2016

My vehicle has experienced no power while accelerating onto a state highway. Acceleration was extremely slow and created a dangerous situation in which the vehicle had to be pulled over on the shoulder immediately to move out of the way of traffic, which was very far away when I initial pulled out on the highway. This occurred multiple times and at random. The vehicle could only reach 40 mph on flat highway and while driving on mountain roads, this would decrease to a maximum speed of 20 mph. This would create a significantly dangerous situation if on was crossing an intersection with oncoming traffic. And.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2016

My 2011 F-250 diesel wouldn't start 2 weeks ago and after having it towed found it to be the h. P. F. P had torn itself apart and put metal shavings in the entire fuel system. It was stationary at the time but I believe it was out of sheer luck that I wasn't on the interstate. This is a recurring problem that this year and model have, but Ford will not acknowledge it as a problem other than to put a kit together for the consumer when this happens to simplify the ordering process. This is a danger to my family and anyone else on the road if my vehicle suddenly stalls and loses all power. This is a frequent enough occurrence to warrant an investigation in my opinion for the thousands of affected Ford diesel owners.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. While driving at 15 mph, the clamp used to secure the high pressure fuel line leading to the fuel injector fractured causing a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fractured clamp was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

While driving at around 60 mph the dash starting chiming and gave me a stop safely now message. I slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road. At about 5 mph the truck shut off, power steering and brakes faded. I was barely out of the lane of traffic and my attempts to restart the truck and get it further off the road to a safer spot were not allowed by the computer system. I had the truck hauled to a nearby Ford dealer and after cooling off all night the truck would restart. The local dealer could not fix the problem due to trouble with his diagnostic computer so he suggested I travel to another dealer. He felt I could make it there with the truck. I went to the motel where my wife and I had to spend the night to pick her up, a distance of about 1-2 miles. We loaded our belongs up into the truck, I restarted it and started to back out of the parking space and it repeated the stop safely now warning and shut the truck off immediately seeing my speed was under 5 mph. I was halfway out of the space and was stuck there. I was very fortunate it helped in the motel parking lot as opposed to just as I pulled out into traffic. . At the next dealership the problem was diagnosed as a bad sensor in the exhaust system.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2015

Truck shut down automatically and would not re-start due to emission sensors per the dealership.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

On 11/03/2014, my wife was driving our 2011 Ford F-250 6. 7 liter diesel on e. Kiehl Ave in sherwood, ar. The vehicle all of a sudden lost power and shut off leaving her to have to negotiate traffic without power steering or power brakes. She was able to avoid a crash. We have never had a problem with our truck. I just had the vehicle serviced on 09/30/2014 where the oil and fuel filters were changed. The truck was towed to north point Ford in north little rock, ar. They drew fuel out of the system past the secondary filter. I was advised that the fuel was cloudy and contained metal fragments and water. The vehicle is covered under a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. However, Ford advised that the high pressure fuel system had failed and that it was due to contaminated fuel so they would not cover it under warranty. The repair bill is a little over $11,000. 00. I had just fueled up on 11/01/2014 at murphy USA in sherwood so I called the bureau of standards for the state and filed a complaint on murphy. The state checked the murphy and advised that they were within standards. I contacted my insurance company. They sent an agent out and the Ford dealership told him that it was mechanical failure so its not an insurance issue. I seem to be getting the run around by Ford. Ford's high pressure fuel system failed while my wife was driving down the road. If she had made it to the highway before this happed, she would have been doing 70 mph. This is a huge safety issue. Cloudy fuel with water and metal after the secondary filter would indicate a failure in the filtration system. Even so, Ford's design of their fuel system does not allow for that in the slightest. All diesel contains water. Chevy, Dodge, Ford, vw, mercedes, etc. Know that and put filter/water separators for that reason. Fuel systems should be made of materials that do not rust and fail.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2014

Started engine and put vehicle in drive. Engine accelerated to max rpms and vehicle ran into a tree approx. 20 feet in front of vehicle. Engine continued to run at wot until I turned ingnition off.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

I purchased the vehicle in October of 2013 with 99,000 miles on it. In January of 2014 I had a check engine light come on. I returned to the dealer to have the code read. At this point the diesel tech comes and tells me that my fuel system has been contaminated and they have to replace the entire fuel system and that I should call my insurance company to cover the cost. The insurance company sent out an inspector who took several fuel samples. Now after 16 days without my truck the test samples have came back as 100% pure diesel fuel with no trace evidence of contamination and they will not cover the cost. They are currently sending me legal documentation as well. The Ford dealer knowing this information refuses to budge from their contamination claims.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2013

Driving down a 6 lane highway in mid day traffic. Had just left my house not 2 minutes earlier. Light comes on says stop safely now. I start to switch lanes and the engine shuts down. I avoided a near collision and swerved into a turn lane. The truck would not even turn over. Called the dealer and after I explained what happened they stated OH you have a bad exhaust sensor it shuts the vehicle down and was informed it is a regular thing. When I got to the dealership they said there is no fix or upgrade just change the sensor. They also said there is no way to know when they are going to go out. They explained when one of the four sensors goes bad it reads a high temp reading and that triggers the shut down. Asked why they don't change the software to give warning when one shows hot and shut down when a minimum of 2 or 3 show hot. I mean if there are 4 sensors and one shows 2200 the others show 200 something tells me the sensors the issue. I am thankful this occurred when it did instead of a minute earlier w hen I initially pulled onto the highway in front of a dump truck. If it had happened then it would have killed me or someone else had the dump truck been forced to swerve. This is a tragedy waiting to happen. I researched it on line and see a lot of other people have experienced the same issue. Please do something. This is a diesel truck.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

While traveling at highway speeds on the interstate the engine began to rapidly loose power. The warning light showed "reducing power". The truck quickly lost power but I was able to move it from the travel lanes as the engine completely shut down and I lost power steering and power brake functions. The truck was towed to a authorized Ford dealer where it was determined that due to "contamination" in the fuel supply the fuel regulator stuck open and the engine shut down to prevent further damage. Upon visual inspection by me at the dealership I examined the metal portion of the fuel regulator which had rust like corrosion on it due to moisture in the fuel. Ford's position is that the moisture in the diesel fuel is "contamination" and therefore caused the problem. The system has two in line filters one of which is specifically designed to separate water from the fuel because diesel fuel has a certain moisture content in it. Ford will not warrantee the repair and is recommending a complete replacement of the fuel system or the remaining warrantee will be voided. The repair is estimated to be in the $10,000 to $12,000 range. My understanding is that Ford(as well as other automakers that use the bosch fuel systems) has many complaints related to fragility of this diesel fuel system and that it was recommended to me to file a complaint with the NHTSA. I am able to provide more specific details as required. Please contact me with any questions.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Fuel system failed, filter housing split open before service interval, diesel fuel sprayed over entire engine, no fire but it could have caught on fire.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2011

Our first f150 ecoboost purchased in July 2011 was taken by Ford as a lemon. The replacement truck provided in November 2011 has the same issues. While driving in rain on a freeway our v6 ecoboost f150 truck engine starts to shudder, shake and then rapidly lose power while driving at highway speeds. Then the engine completely shuts down when accelerating. Our vehicle barely made it to the side of the road where it stopped running. After letting it sit for a few minutes the engine was restarted. Although the engine worked the truck continued to shudder and shake with limited ability to accelerate for the remainder of the 3 hour drive. Over a period of many months the problem reoccurred many times, almost always when driving in the rain. The problem was even worse while driving in the rain and towing a boat trailer. The problem is especially horrific when towing a trailer and driving in the mountains in the rain. The problem also occurs no matter then weather when driving through the mountains of kentucky, tennessee and northern georgia. The truck is totally undependable. Although the truck has been in the dealership for repairs the problem is not fixed! on top of the loss of power, a life threatening situation when driving in traffic on any road especially a freeway, the miles per gallon has never been higher than 18mpg when driving on a freeway at 55mph (confirmed by a Ford mechanic) significantly below the product advertisement by Ford. To date after multiple times in the Ford dealership repair shop the problem has not been fixed.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2011

After engine is warmed up, when you slow down, there is a few seconds, 3 to 5, that the truck will not speed up. This problem continues as long as you are in slow down and speed up traffic. If you are turning left the speed up time can be 3 to 8 seconds. I have carried truck back to the dealer several times with this problem. I have been told at these times that they can not duplicate what I have told them. This problem has almost caused a accident several, several times. I have explained to the service manager several times about this problem and there is steel no fix for this problem. I believe that if this problem is not fixed that I will be in a accident.
