Failure Date: 06/09/2025

It keeps throwing a check engine light for miss fire but ive replaced all of the ignition and fuel parts and it keeps happening now its loosing power and getting hot for no reason.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

I just had to replace the ecm because it fired. After replacing that it still won't start. I've talked to multiple people who have had the same problem.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2023

Without any warning, smoke started billowing from the driver's side dash and overhead liner. When looking for the cause, I pulled the solenoid and the smoking stopped. Upon further inspection, I discovered broken, melted wiring in the rear drivers side door jamb. In researching this problem online, I found that other owners had experienced the same problem.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2022

Okk main issue is what everyone calls the “death wobble”. It has done it countless of times since I’ve had the truck. Even after I bought a new fox single steering stabilizer. I have replaced quite a few things under the front end that I was told “could” be why it kept doing it. The most recent I’ve bought for the front is brand new fox shocks just like the ones I have on the back and it still does it. I’ve had the front end aligned a couple times since I’ve had the truck and rotated my tires once too. And to this day it still does that death wobble. It scares me every time too still. Im afraid ima end up in a wreck or cause a wreck bc of it. Another issue is I keep having this warning pop up saying “ engine temp too high reduced engine power “ bc it thinks the engine coolant is too low which it’s not. And when I scan the code through the obd port it just says “engine oil temp sensor too low/too high”. I had the Ford dealership in my town put a new oil temp sensor in it but it still throws a code just about everyday I drive it. Another issue I had was the high pressure fuel pump on the front of the motor go out literally while I was sittn in my driveway at night after just driving it not even 3 miles down the road to the store to grab a few things. And it ran fine like normal but soon as pulled in the driveway an was rolling my windows up about to go in it just died on me an had to get it towed to the Ford dealership in my town. They looked at my fuel an said my fuel was fine with no contaminants in it. I was just unlucky they said so that was basically 10k out my pocket to pay for a whole new fuel system. The death wobble is my most concerning issue but other than that the truck has been awesome.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2021

Power mirror driver's side doesn't retract /extend automatically. Driver's seat doesn't power adjust. It is stuck in one position and will not move. Electrical short w/ annoying hum over speakers when radio is on.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2021

Interior lights do not come on when door is opened, only can be manually turned on. The cargo lights and high brake like no longer work as well which is a safety issue with the center high brake light. Turns out a lot of 2012 f250 owners are complaining of the same issue and it's caused by the bcm. Body control module. It appears that a design flaw lets water drip on the module which eventually makes it no longer operate as explained by several repair shops I've contacted. The 2011 f250 has a recall for this same problem.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

While driving with cruise control on, when adjusting speed, engine will stall out and power steering, brakes stop working, all interior and exterior lights remain on, incident has happened twice within a week.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2020

While driving, dash lights, speedometer, rpm gauge, ac, and radio intermediately shut off for 5 to 10 seconds and then come back on. This repeatedly happens.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Started my truck to let it warm up before I took it in to town. Went inside for around 150 min, come outside and I seen smoke coming from my doors and as soon as I opened it feom the passenger door it was full of smoke and I seen a fire on my driver side feint seat. It completely burnt my truck and another f250 the was parked next to it.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2019

Vehicle has had random times when it just cut off completely or it is unable to start. This has been ongoing since the vehicle was purchased used in 2015. Dealer has recently identified a defect in the brb but the repair expense is exorbitant due to time involved.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2018

I bought a used 2012 f250 four wheel drive that had no dome, cargo, or map lights but everything else worked normal. After replacing bulbs, dimmer switch, and checking all fuses I took in to my Ford dealership and they found that due to moisture in the cab, it burned out the body control module aka bcm. Rumor has it that these trucks leak water from windshield or firewall. I paid 650 to have it replaced.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2017

Egt sensors shut down my truck in the middle of a 2 lane highway and would not start at all.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2017

"takata recall" vehicle engine failure at speed, failed egt sensor caused the truck to shut-off in the middle of an interstate.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2016

Windshield wipers were locked on when the vehicle was on. Independent of weather. No way to turn off until electronic switches that control the wipers, blinkers, and high beams were replaced. Problem started on the highway in motion. Rt 89 n vermont. Continued untilled repaired. Part number was sw-6874.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2016

Two different problems: first I was left stranded about 2 1/2 hours away from home because of a simple egt sensor defect shut down my truck. Had to pay a tower $350 to drive my truck to dealership and they tell me it was a little sensor that left me stranded. This type thing shouldn't happen when you pay $60,000 plus for a vehicle. Now months later I have another issue that from all the blogs say is a problem most 2012 models have called the "death wobble". It is now happening at least once on every drive I make. I have had over 8 situations where I have had to slam on breaks to make the vibration stop and the car behind me almost slam into the back of my truck. Because once the wobbling starts you have to come to almost a complete stop before the wobbling will stop. My wife now refuses to drive my truck because she is scared to death to drive it. I don't even like to drive it, but it's necessary because it is the only vehicle I have to drive. I am at the point of wanting to trade it, but what kind of trade in am I going to get with this problem happening. My 2012 just has a little more than 40,000 miles, not very much when you are talking about a diesel engine. It is happening more often now than before, and I fell it will just continue to happen more. No one in my family wants to drive or ride with me in my truck anymore. It seems as though Ford is refusing to admit that this is a problem on every online site I go too, I assume it will take a few people getting killed before they realize there is a problem. What are owners to due with this, because if we trade the truck know one is going to want to buy it. So once again the consumer gets shafted. Nhtsa we are looking for you to help us with this problem before someone gets killed. Please help us with this problem! please!!!!!!.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that the egt 14 sensor failed to function properly. The failure happened twice and there was no warning indicator of stop safely now and 5 chimes as indicated in the owners manual. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph, there was no warning indicator and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the egt sensor. In addition, the vehicle stalled while on an off ramp exiting the highway with no warning. The diesel exhaust warning indicated stated the fluid was low and when the contact checked it was full so the indicator had not properly functioned as well. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced all of the sensors but the contact was uncertain of both failures may progress again. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

While traveling I-10 west near crestview, FL at approximately 70 mph, I received a Ford diagnostic screen notification to stop vehicle immediately. I pulled over on the side of the interstate and slowed the truck to a stop. The engine shut off immediately when I fully stopped. I attempted to restart the truck, but the truck engine would not even 'turn over'. There was no additional information provided by the Ford diagnostic screen. I was stranded on the side of the interstate with family members and luggage at 8pm on a Sunday night, and 2 hours from home (mississippi). I had the truck towed to the nearest Ford dealership. The next day, the dealership informed me that it was a egt sensor failure. This is unbelievable that a failed sensor would leave me stranded without a previous warning stating the shutdown would occur. At least the truck pcm should notify and allow me to put myself and my loved ones in a safe place if the truck was to be automatically shut off.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

After driving for 5 monutes a warning light came on for the rear locking differential- no change in the drivability. About 5 minutes after that the computer started flashing different symbols indicating many problems- the alarms were going off non-stop- then the engine was shut down by the computer. This truck is heavy and I may have caused an accident when it happened because I had to use all my strength to keep it on the road and went into the other lane! if this happened while towing a load on one of the mountain passes I could have been seriously injured or killed- and hurt or killed others! Ford has had bad diesel engines since they dropped the 7. 3 years ago and are ripping off people in this country- please don't let someone die over a known problem. Seems cheaper for Ford to put us in danger by shutting down this engine and therefore not replacing the engine and computer system.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40mph, the vehicle's warning lights began to illuminate which then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was unable to restart and was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing and repair, where the power control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000. Mm.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

I was driving my son to school and as I approached the entrance to the school the alarm chimed. I slowed down on a busy 4 lane street to turn into the school parking lot. As I tried to accelerate the truck shut off leaving me sitting in the middle of an intersection with a 3 year old in the backseat in a car seat. I tried to restart the truck before the oncoming traffic reached us, to no avail I got out and started to push the truck and 2 pedestrians ran across the street to stop traffic and help me push the truck out of the street so we wouldn't get hit. When I called Ford they said nothing could be done to get the truck started until the exhaust sensor was replaced and they were on back order for 2 weeks. After calling the dealership I purchased the truck from (out of state) they offered to overnight one to the dealership that would repair the truck. After discussing this with several members of the local dealership team including the service manager they miraculously found a sensor in a nearby town to replace the following day. We easily could have been in a serious accident if the truck would have stalled while oncoming traffic were closer. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Driving on a highway at about 65 mph ,my truck stoped running. The computer said it was low on oil,it was not. This happened approx. 6 more times before I got home. I didn't where a Ford dealer was so I took my truck to a truck repair shop, the truck stopped 3 more times. They fixed a wireing problem in the engine compartment, thay charged me 526. 58 for the repairs. Ford would not reimburse me. Has this been a problem?.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2014

This is the 2nd time that this has happened with this vehicle. The truck dash board sensor flashed the "safety shut off", which is related to the exhaust temperature sensor of the emission controls. After the indicator lit up, the truck instantly shut down with no additional warning or provision of time to merge out of traffic and into a safe area. The truck would not restart nor turn over however the batteries were fine. In my researching of corrections or causes to this problem, it appears that Ford is aware of this malfunction as others have brought it forward to their attention yet as of today Ford has not yet acknowledge the problem. It is my hope that if enough that if enough Ford drivers come forward, Ford will look into the problem, find a solution and provide a recall to correct it before someone dies.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

While driving my truck on a busy side road, the message center flashed a warning, "stop safe soon". A audible chime was heard and the truck shut off. Complete lose of power brakes, power steering. I was not able to get the truck off the road completely since it happened so fast. Traffic was stopped in both directions while we did our best to push the 7,500 pound truck to the narrow shoulder. Since the shoulder would not fit the entire truck, it was basically half in the road. Traffic has backed up and we had to wait close to an hour for a tow truck. After speaking with the dealer, he told me the truck has a bulletin out about a faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor. This small sensor fault shuts the truck down and will not allow the engine to run.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2013

I have had to replace exhaust heat sensors 4 times in my 2012 F-250. The same sensor twice, first at 26k around June 2013 and and again at 46k, oct 2014. I've been stranded 3 times and had to be towed to a dealer. I occasionally pull a 42ft 5th wheel camper and am very worried it will happen while pulling it with no place to pull over. Ford needs to step up to the plate and get a fix for this problem.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2011

Tl - the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-250. The contact stated that burning fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The contact stated that the fumes made his eyes burn and he had an upset stomach. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnosed the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 7 and the current mileage was 108,000. Pm.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/26/1998

Driving, had just pulled into a parking lot so was out of traffic truck engine stopped. No re-start. Had towed to Ford, replaced 4 egt sensors.
