Horrible death wobble. Entire front end has been rebuilt and the truck is still experiencing the death wobble.
The truck is scheduled to go in to a Ford dealer sept 27, 2022. The steering became unmanageable changing lanes at 50 miles an hour. I was almost impossible to controll the truck due to uncontollable shaking. If someone had been beside us we would have crashed. I am afraid to ride in the truck because there isn't any warning this is going to happen. I was literally scared to death. From my research it is called the death wobble. Consumers should not be responsible for paying for repairs for defective equipment they didn’t cause. And, most importantly, truck owners should not have to worry about potentially being injured or killed in an accident or harming someone else. This has happened several times with my husband when I wasn't in the truck and I had no idea how serious it is.
The recall that expired July 31, 2022 was to fix the reductant heater and sender assembly. I've had this issue ever since I owned this vehicle, but it only occurs when the def tank is at half-volume. Once it's at half volume, it generates the dtc p21b0 and doesn't tell me how many miles I have left in my def tank nor does it state how full it is. This is a risk in driving, as I have no idea how much fluid is left in my def tank. I was in the dealership in June to get two separate recalls resolved (21e01 as well as 21m01), but for 21m01, you needed to have the dtc present to be eligible. Well, the particular issue, 21m01, only occurs in my 2014 F-250 6. 7l when the def tank gets near 1/2 full. This took several months to occur, landing it two weeks outside the July 31,2022 date. I contacted Ford and opened cas38242123 at that time and today I was told I'm ineligible.
I we were on the highway going 65 mph truck started violently shaking this is not the first time this has happened to us while driving this truck. It has also happened while going 30mph. It is very scary and feels like the truck is going to fall apart. We just bought this truck less that 60 days ago and this has happened 5-10 times. We have also made a complaint through Ford motor as to what will be done with this issue. We had our little girl in the truck and she became very afraid of driving in the truck.
My 2014 f250 has since around 80k miles had an uncontrollable wobble when at low highway speeds hitting even the smallest bump in the road. After multiple alignments and tire changes my dealer admitted that its known as "death wobble" and I need to do thousands of dollars in repairs that are very common. I am at 140k now and they finally admited that its a systemic problem.
Several times now, when driving at speeds above 55, when I hit a very small bump in the road the truck starts shaking violently. It is to the point that, you can not control it until you stop. The problem does not happen every time driven, but it does occasionally. It feels completely unsafe to drive on the highway.
Was traveling on the freeway at 65mph and hit a bump, truck started shaking violently and almost lost control. Had to slowly apply brakes and pull to side of road to regain control. It was like a death shake. The truck is a 2014 f250 with all of it maintenance up to date.
Three times within a week my truck has experienced a sudden, violent shaking at highway speeds. There were no bumps in the road or any kind of sudden maneuver that started the shaking. All three times it happened while I was accelerating to highway speed. I have found that this is called "death wobble" and that it happens frequently to Ford trucks as well as other vehicles. I am extremely concerned that this is a potential tragedy that appears to be deliberately overlooked. I hope to see a recall in the very near future.
I have a 2014 f250 and I was driving on the highway when the check engine light came on at 106k, when I had it checked it was reading code p20ba. I know there is a recall for this code for the def heater redundant on years before and after. . . When will there be a recall for this year as well. I had to have it replaced at the dealership.
The drivers door latch froze this evening. I need to slam the door 20-25 times before the latch would latch and stay closed. This is after Ford repaired the same door last year for the same problem.
Currently my f250 6. 7l diesel engine has a cel code of p20ba (reductant heater). During an extensive search on this part, it was discovered that the reductant heater was built by bosch and similar variants were installed in vw, gm, benz, and other diesel manufactures. Volks wagon has already increased the warranty of this part as it is prone to failure. Ford has yet to make a stb or a recall notice to service and repair this vital emissions component. While searching several 6. 7l Ford truck forums, I learned that this is a reoccurring issue in many 6. 7 trucks. It seems odd that a truck with 70k miles that is not used for commercially purposes, has failed within the first 3 years of the vehicles life. Nationally this repair, if done by a Ford dealer, is approximately $750. The cost of deleting the def system, though a federal crime, is $1,200 dollars. If the cost to remove equipment that is prone to failure, can increase the life of the engine, and costs slightly more than more , individuals will begin eliminating their def systems. A recall and replacement of these heaters would serve and benefit the diesel community.
Truck violently starts shaking uncontrollably on highway at high speeds. This occurs if hit a bump in the road, pavement/groove changes, accelerating up to highway speeds to merge or getting on the brake at high speed on the highway. The "death wobble" is the experience I have been having and is now becoming way to common for the daily commute. This is happening on daily travel and when pulling a trailer loaded with horses. Purchased in 2016 with extremely low miles and the issue began showing in early 2017 and has since become more and more frequent and the safety of the vehicle is now uncertain every time I get in the vehicle.
When the truck hits a bridge expansion joint or a pot hole it's shakes violently losing control and pulls the steering wheel out of your hands. The dealership claims there is no problem and has never heard of such a thing.
