1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph and attempting to change lanes, the contact felt a small bump. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle started to wobble violently, almost causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle due to the increased steering effort. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway to inspect the vehicle, but found no cause for the issue. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,668.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2025

2014 Ford f250 super duty 6. 7 diesel. Coming down mountain in arizona (bumblebee pass) hit small bump. Truck began violently shaking in the “death wobble mode”. Later I was just driving on the freeway and hit a small bump at 70 mph (75 mph zone), again violent shaking that did not stop until I was driving 50 mph. Since I’m leaving on cross country trip soon, I opted to take vehicle to mechanic. It is there now. This is because there is no recall on 2014 Ford for this issue and I don’t have weeks available to fight with Ford. Have learned today that this is very common across the county and has been reported to Ford motor company but the company is denying their liability to fix this very dangerous issue! my vehicle symptoms are exactly what there have been numerous complaints about. I will be sending the bill to Ford.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2024

Vehicle shakes uncontrollable on the front passenger side when driving over 50 mph. Took to the repair shop and was diagnosed with the death wobble. Told it's unsafe to drive until repaired and repair will be over 1,600. 00.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2024

Vehicle wobbles violently on highway when it hits a bump. Had several near collisions. There were no warnings, happened suddenly.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2024

I have had this truck for 7 years and bought it with 35k. It now has 150k. This week ([xxx])I finally experienced the notorious “death wobble” at 60 mph in atlanta, GA with my wife & daughter in the truck. This is a very scary situation when you’re going down the road with traffic behind you at 70 plus mph and the steering wheel starts shaking violently after going over a bump on the highway. I feared that we were going to be in an accident at that time. I was defenseless at that moment and in the middle lane of a major highway. I don’t understand how long this has to continue until a recall is considered or Ford is held liable for a problem they have been aware of going back as far as the 2011 model year. I would love for you to see the dash cam footage I have , so you could see what my family and I experienced. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2024

Death wobble at speeds greater than 46 mph. I have to come to a complete stop to make it stop. I almost got rear ended by a semi before I could get off the interstate on the shoulder. My vehicle is a 2014 but I have experienced this several times since I bought it new. Took it to my local Ford dealer to see if they can do anything to fix it. It’s really dangerous when it happens on a busy interstate. The front end sounds like it’s coming apart and steering is impossible when it happens.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2024

Driving 65 miles per hour on the freeway and front end started shaking and wobbling horrible, could have caused an accident it was sudden and violent. Pulled over to verify tires were okay and they were. Couldn’t drive over 50 mph without the wobble starting again.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2024

The Ford death wobble. I was driving down the highway at speed and hit an overpass expansion joint and the truck started violently shaking and I had to slow down and get in the center median against the concrete barrier to get it under control. Once I got it under control and got back on the highway I moved to the slow lane and a couple of miles down the road I hit another expansion joint, and it did the same thing. This time there was an exit ramp coming up and I took the ramp to slow down to get it back under control. We had just had it at the local Ford dealership and had the suspension all changed to new from oem. New tie rods, steering damper, and most of the other suspension parts to fix the issue. They said that should fix the problem. It did not fix the problem. Now it is back at the dealer, and they are saying that it "could be a couple of other parts" and it will be an additional $600. 00 to have them replaced after we spent $1600. 00 the first time it was supposed to be fixed. Why is it that Ford and the other manufactures that have this issue have not fixed the problem. This has been going on for years and the same issue. Also, why have they not issued a complete recall on these trucks to fix the issue? my truck is not part of the recall at all, and it is doing the same things as the ones that are on the recall. This makes no sense. If it is a known safety issue and it is a manufacturing defect, then there should be a recall. Is it because no one has died as a result of this yet? or are they just waiting until someone does before they do something about it? this is absolutely insane to me. My wife will not drive the truck and that is who it was purchased for. We also bought it to haul our horses and she will definitely not haul her horses with this truck. She will continue to use the 1999 f250 that does not have this issue. I need some resolution to this and I would like to be reimbursed for the money that we spent to fix the problem that didn't fix it.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2023

December 24th at approximately 1100 hr. Driving normally on the garden state parkway southbound approaching exit 98. The vehicle instantaneously began to shake out of control. I was able to keep the vehicle in the travel lane and was able to pull over to the shoulder. I vehicle pulled over to see if I was ok and explained the truck was front tires shaking violently. I did a pulmonary check under the vehicle any everything looked in order. I followed up with a local mechanic who informed me that this was a common issue with these vehicles that was called the "Ford death wobble" and suggested that I take it to a specialist who deals with the suspension. I followed up with r&h spring and truck repair, 4806 w hurley pond rd, wall township, NJ 07719. R&h is familiar with the issue and the vehicle is currently scheduled to be diagnosed. The recommendation is to change most of the front end because no one issues causes this to happen. The vehicle has less that 44, 000 miles on it and clearly a design issue. I have been in law enforcement for 30 years and have never experienced anything like this. I have been trained in all types of advanced driving course throughout those years. Fortunately I was driving at the time rather a less experienced driver. I am not requesting anything other than the issue be addressed to protect the public. Unfortunately if not addressed loss of life will occur. Respectfully, andrew huisman I am not requsting anything other than that.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2023

Traveling about 67 mph. Hit a bump on the road. Truck started shaking violently. Lost control of truck and entered ditch. No other vehicles involved. Had to use 4 wd to get onto road. Has done this couple times before but not to this extreme danger.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2023

Death wobble occurred randomly at about 40mph. Driving through mountains, slowed down and pulled off to the side to avoid putting others in danger including the passengers in this truck. There were not any warning lights/alerts from the truck prior to this happening.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2023

Death wobble. I did not know this was a thing until it happened to me and I found out its been a problem on Ford trucks for over 15 years. My entire truck including the steering wheel shook violently on 5 different occasions. I'm scared to drive my 100k truck now. I brought to dealership thinking it came from them working on my truck and they informed me that this has been a issue that Ford refuses to recall and there's been multiple lawsuits. They suggested I file a complaint with this org.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2023

Horrible death wobble. Entire front end has been rebuilt and the truck is still experiencing the death wobble.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2023

On two different occasions while driving on the highway ( approximately 60 to 65) when I passed over an expansion joint the steering wheel and entire truck started to shake violently and out of control - it was like it hit some harmonic balance and would not stop until I got hard on the brakes and slowed down to approximately 35 mph. ( not fun to do in the fast lane of a highway) this happened two times once in Feb 2023 and again in June 2023.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2023

I was getting on I-95 n from benson, nc with speed limit of 70mph. While I was still accelerating and just merged in traffic, going about 65-70mph, my 2014 f250 started doing the death wobble. The section of highway I was on has no shoulder or anywhere to pull off because they are doing construction on the shoulder and have concrete blocks maybe 6inches past the line. So I had no choice but to put on my brakes hard and slow down until the shaking stopped, which was bout 15-20mph. I’m very lucky I wasn’t rear ended or in an accident because of the death wobble. My 12 week old baby girl was also with me in the truck at the time.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2023

On 1/27/2023 at approximately 1215pm I was driving my 2014 Ford f250 diesel on route 743 between hershey PA and elizabethtown PA. I was going about 55 mph I was going on a right curve and hit a small bump in the roadway. My truck began to violently shake and I feared that I was going to wreck and lose control. One this happened this death wobble accorded 4 more times within the next 20 miles.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2022

Driving at 55 mph and hit small bump in the road and front end started shaking violently. Had to come to a complete stop to get it to quit.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2022

I was driving on the highway over a bridge and the truck started wobbling uncontrollably when I hit 55. The scary part is you couldn’t really control the vehicle when it was wobbling like that. So the next day we went and bought me shocks for the front and back and it’s doing this.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2022

The truck is scheduled to go in to a Ford dealer sept 27, 2022. The steering became unmanageable changing lanes at 50 miles an hour. I was almost impossible to controll the truck due to uncontollable shaking. If someone had been beside us we would have crashed. I am afraid to ride in the truck because there isn't any warning this is going to happen. I was literally scared to death. From my research it is called the death wobble. Consumers should not be responsible for paying for repairs for defective equipment they didn’t cause. And, most importantly, truck owners should not have to worry about potentially being injured or killed in an accident or harming someone else. This has happened several times with my husband when I wasn't in the truck and I had no idea how serious it is.

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2022

Death wobble shakes tremoundesly after 50 mph.

21 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2022

While breaking quickly due to another group of vehicles suddenly breaking, my truck began to shake violently similar to symptoms noted in the repeated reports concerning death wobble. My tires have less than 10,000 miles and the truck has had the alignment checked in the last 12 months. It is important to note that the steering shook so violently that it came out of my hands. This could have caused a major accident or worse for a less skilled motorist.

22 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2022

While driving down the highway at 75 I hit an uneven bump in the road and the vehicles front end started to vibrate and quickly became violent shaking of the trucks front end causing me to lose control of the vehicle and almost cause a major multicar accident on the interstate. I ended up almost hitting the guard rail on the side of the road but everyone was ok. I thought the whole front end came apart and had to get out of the vehicle on the side of the interstate to inspect the front and upon doing so almost got hit by a passing vehicle. After researching this problem I found thousands and thousands of complaints on F-250s for this same issue. It is unbelievable nothing has been done to remedy this problem when it seems it has been a known problem for many years. Thank god I didn't but if I would have got hit by the passing car and died my wife and children would have been fatherless because of negligence on Ford and them absolutely knowing about this problem and doing nothing about it. In the end my family would have lost a husband/father because he bought a Ford. That is just insane to think about being a reality. Why is nothing being done about this? is Ford paying off the NHTSA to not demand a recall on these trucks? there are thousands and thousands of complaints on this site for this issue. How many does it take or does it take a certain number of deaths before it matters? please someone do something about this!.

23 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and driving over a bump on the road, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he had experienced the same failure several times. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front suspension and steering assembly to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

24 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2022

Unknown! this is the 2nd Ford f250 that I've purchased brand new. I had no clue what the issue was until visiting with fellow Ford f250 owners. Low and behold, the "Ford death wobble". I don't understand why there has not been a recall on this before now. After researching, I've learned there was even a class action lawsuit filed against Ford in 2019! what on earth is wrong with Ford?! I love my truck, but not enough to continue buying a Ford product knowing this is an issue that they don't want to fix!!! I'm so glad I was informed by friends with the same issues and know it's not just "an alignment" issue! shame on you Ford for refusing to address or acknowledge this issue!!!!! I pray that I don't have an accident due to the "death wobble" that the Ford trucks have. . . . . But at least it is documented that I have the same issues that over 1200 other Ford truck owners have experienced and complained about. . . . . . I wonder how many others are out there that don't know it's called the "death wobble" and they keep returning to have it repaired! I noticed this incident with my truck in 2015! how sad that it took nearly 7 years for me to discover the real issue!.

25 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving over a bump at approximately 70 mph, the front end was shaking violently. After the vehicle decelerated to approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stopped shaking. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called an independent mechanic and was informed to contact NHTSA. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2022

Vehicle drove over small pothole in high speed lane at mile marker 22 on nb I-75, north of cincinnati, lost steering control when vehicle shook side to side violently, had to pull off left sholder, slowing down to 10 mph to regain control. Traffic had to avoidme, almost rear ending my vehicle. Speed was apx 70 mph at time of incident, I was in fear for my life. I just had vehicle inspected by certified mechanic, spent 1400 dollars on front end parts replacement and the vehicle continues to do this, must be a design defect and not just a parts wear issue that the cronin Ford dealer in harrison ohio stated. This vehicle needs to be recalled by Ford before somebody gets killed.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2022

My 2014 Ford F-250 started developing a death wabble when on rough highways doing over 45mph. Three or four times I took it to Ford service tucson at 22nd street and technician changed steering box, ball joints and generally looked it over. The other day the death wabble was every 5 miles on highway 83 which is a little rough but no potholes. Took the truck in yesterday and they couldn’t find a problem. Please be advised when this happens the truck is out of control. I need to hit my brakes to about 25 mph and the shaking then stops.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2022

The truck developed a "death wobble" about a year ago. Over the past year the death wobble has happened almost every single time we have drove it. We have had multiple diesel mechanics look at it numerous times. We have replaced all the tie rod ends, drag link, steering stabilizer, track bar and track bar bushing. When the truck starts shaking, the driver has to immediately engage the breaks, running the risk of being rear ended and risking losing control of the truck. No warning lights have displayed throughout this time. The shaking has happened when driving between 35-55 mph, while the truck is alone and also once while pulling a horse trailer, loaded with horses- posing severe risk to the horses and passengers in the truck. The truck is available for inspection if need be.

29 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2022

"death shake/wobble" driving 60 mph hit a small pot hole in a slight curve to the left front end started shaking so badly that I had to come to a complete stop by placing transmission in neutral and allowing truck to slow down by coasting. Brakes made it worse.

30 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2022

My 2014 f250 is also experiencing a death wobble like many other Ford f250 customers already reported. The steering and front wheels shakes abruptly when driving on uneven roads on highways unexpectedly. This happens between 60 to 75 miles on highways, and I need to reduce the speed drastically to regain the control of the vehicle. This sudden speed reduction can cause back-end collisions and Ford does not have any safety recalls on this issue as far as I know. This happened to me multiple occasions on same uneven roads and I tired to avoid those uneven areas these days.

31 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2021

As I am traveling down the road, usually betwenn 50-70 mph and I go over a bump in the road, the vehicle starts to shake violently to the point that it is almost uncontrolable. Steping on the brake slows the truck down but does not stop the shaking. It appears that the tires shake back and forth, and the entire truck, especially the front end, shakes back and forth very very violently. I have heard that this condition may be called the "death wobble".

32 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2021

While driving 85 mph in an 85 mph zone near the 9900 blk of n sh 130 nb a bump in the left hand lane sent the truck into a violent shake. Reducing speed did little to resolve the death wobble. Luckily no traffic was around allowing me to slowly reduce the speed and bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder. Only stopping made the violent wobble stop. Immediately drove to the tire shop and replaced with factory tires. Will have the vehicles front suspension checked by a certified technician.

33 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2021

I experienced a vibration in the front steering and suspension of my 2014 f250 lariat super duty 4x4 after hitting a bump in the road. I was traveling between 45 – 50 miles per hour, hit a bump that cannot be avoided in my lane. On October 28, 2021 after hitting the bump as described above, it started vibrating so violently in the front end I had difficulty controlling it and keep it in my lane to slow it down to about 15 miles per hour to stop the shaking from the front wheels. In all my years of driving, I have never experienced anything like this. I carefully checked my f250 for lose wheels or front-end suspension and slowly drove another 4 miles home and checked it again. Please note, my f250, VIN id [xxx] only has 54,797 miles on it with 99% being highway miles. It has not been abused and has been regularly serviced by Ford technicians since it was new. I searched the internet to find out what may cause the violent vibration in the frontend and discovered the term for it is “the death wobble”. Therefore, on November 2, 2021, I made arrangements with vancouver Ford located at 6801 n. E. 40th street, vancouver, wa 98661 to check out my f250 to determine the cause of this dangerous violent vibration in the front end after hitting a bump driving down the road. Vancouver Ford technician diagnosed the problem as the steering damper and recommended replacement. I authorized the replacement which cost $310. 40. Replacing the steering damper is just a band-aid and it will happen again in a few months. What is Ford doing to resolve this that is better than the band-aid. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

34 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2021

I experienced the death wobble in a 2014 f250 while driving 60-65 mph on highway through memphis. Wobble initiated by hitting a pot hole.

35 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2021

On interstate highway, hit a bump in the road and vehicle vibrated, shook violently and was difficult to steer. The vehicle had to slowed down to 50 mph from 70 mph to regain control by hard braking. This action put my life at risk in rush hour traffic. I will not drive this vehicle until this issue is resolved. This happened at 7 am in the morning.
