Three problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2017 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving at appx. 70-75 mph after hitting a rough patch or bumps on the road the truck began to shake vigorously, I had to slow to 35-40 mph to get it to stop. I have just had the tires balance, rotated, and inflated to the specs. I was just in the dearlship on Friday 02/15/19 and mentioned it to them they said they would look at it and would be $120 diagnostic fee never got an answer back. This morning alone I had experienced it 3 times in the 40 miles I drive to work. This is a huge safety issue and to experience it that many times in a 40 mile drive to work is not ok. Luckily my kids and wife weren't in the truck they would have never rode in it again. I have 41k miles on my tuck and this isn't the first time it has happened. Before taking the tries to be balanced and rotated fixed the issue so it seamed but right after laving the tire shop it happened. I will be taking the truck back to Ford again for them to tell me there is nothing wrong. What is the fix for this? it seams to a common problem is Ford doing anything to help its customers? now after this run of sudden shakes my sun roof will not open seams to be jammed or off track from the violent shaking not sure what else is broken or no longer works after this.
At approximately 35,500 miles I had the track bar, a new steering box and pitman arm replaced because of wear, at approximately 36,000 the truck developed "death wobble" 3 times over small bumps at about 50mph . I took it immediately back to Ford and they replaced the steering stabilizer. I was driving south on I 81 in the fast lane thinking they fixed and the truck again went into death wobble at approximately 65 -70 mph and had to brake extremely hard down to about 35 mph to get it to stop almost causing a major pile up as there was heavy traffic at that time. After I got back I dropped the truck at Ford again and told him drive it, which he wouldn't , he said he checked all the steering components and they were tight, he said "take to some place that has a better alignment rack, so I did that and paid out of my own pocket for it. It did not fix the problem, I replaced the steering box to a top of the line box out of my own pocket even though it had been replaced . I have not been able to drive my truck safely since Nov. Of 2018 and it is now Jul. 29th 2019. I cant let anyone else drive it for fear of killing an innocent person, even the mechanic that put the second steering box in did the alignment again is scared to drive it because it happened with him after the 2nd replacement box. After looking for the problem and solutions I have found this is a huge issue. If this is not taken care of people are going die, if they have not already. It is very hard to believe there are not deaths and very serious injuries caused by this as I have been thrown into the other lane several times and drop a huge amount of speed very quickly . I paid $60,000 dollars for a brand new truck and now no one can safely drive it, even the mechanic's are scared to drive it. I have had death wobble at least 13 to 15 times from January until now and at speeds from 45 to 70. Please help !!.
The antenna mount is broken and very poorly made. The service manager said that is what happens when you take it through a car wash, checked 2018 same model and the mount has been changed to a heavy duty mounting bracket. When I was driving, it was waving in the wind and at one time came out completly. I was afraid it would hit someone or something and do harm or damage to someone or something including killing someone. I had to use some type of agent to hold it down but that has to be replaced every month. This is not acceptable, and any vehicle should be eligible to go through a car wash. Vehicle was brought to hawk Ford in oak lawn, IL (invoice #841990) with no repairs being done. Was told it was my problem to deal with.
