My husband was driving on hwy 77 in va on October 25, 2018 when he accidentally ran into the back of a tri-axle dump truck going at a slower speed. Upon impact something under the hood immediately burst into flames and the fire quickly spread. The side impact air bags did not deflate and my husband struggle to get the driver door open. Fortunately my husband was able to get out of the truck with the help of the dump truck driver pulling on the outside of the truck door. The fire quickly spread to the cab of the truck and the aluminum melted away. He lost everything that was in the cab of his truck and some things in the bed of the truck. He was pulling an enclosed trailer with tools and equipment and the fire spread to the trailer and damaged/destroyed some tools until the fire department was able to extinguish the flames.
