The contact stated that recently the tailgate had an electrical short circuit following a period of heavy rain. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer. The vehicle was repaired. The contact informed the manufacturer of the failure and was referred to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
