At interstate speeds, when the truck hits a bump or an expansion joint going onto or off a bridge, the steering wheel jerks hard and pulls the truck into the next lane. I've been reporting this front-end problem to Ford dealers for almost two years. About eight months ago, on xxx near [xxx], it nearly made me hit the car in the lane beside me. It happened again this past weekend (xxx) on xxx in [xxx], coming back from [xxx] with my daughter in the truck: coming off a bridge, it jerked me toward the guardrail. [xxx] Ford, [xxx] Ford, and johnson city Ford have each inspected the truck multiple times, and the problem has not been fixed. This is a serious safety risk at highway speed. The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel inadvertently drifted to the left. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was severe wear on the front passenger’s side outer tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
Bumps in the road caused steering wheel to shake violently (death wobble) until truck was stopped in the middle of a 4-lane expressway. Truck is now at the dealer for inspection of frontend steering components. If there was heavier traffic, there would have been an accident. No warning signs present, only bumps in the road which the truck was not able to dampen or control.
