Unknown Or Other problem #1

This vehicle since the last pcm update when it goes into "clean exhaust filter" mode will shoot out heavy smoke for 2 miles. This is an environmental pollution and also a safety hazard for drivers behind the vehicle. This problem has been ongoiing for months. Dealer states it is"normal".

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Driving down the highway and the truck picked up speed by itself until it reached 95 mph then the engine bogged down repeatly, then I shut the engine down and restarted it and it worked ok until evening then the truck failed to start and the starter kept turning without me touching the key.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Leaking radiator hoses causing loss of coolant from engine. Leak is a hazard to environment and wildlife that may come in contace with ethylene glycol. Dealer indicates a design issue exists with radiator hose o-rings and Ford has redesigned the hoses to use double o-rings vs. The current single o-ring.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Approximately 1 hour after being parked in parking stall at my residence, neighbors noticed fire coming from the hood and underneath the vehicle (the fire originated on the driver's side). They attempted to put out the fire and called 911. San jose fire department responded to the call and finished putting out the fire. The vehicle had visible burnt wiring, right side fender damage from heat (inside and outside) and the right driver's side tire sustained damage due to melting debris falling on tire. The fire department took a report of the incident. As I have relayed this event to others, they have mentioned that this is probably a "recall fire" and that I should report this incident.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Paint starting to peel from bumper.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

You drive this truck on rough roads and the truck is bouncing all over and causing loss of control which made me go off the road. As soon as you hit bumps the truck sways either left or right which has got me in close call for an accident. Then this truck looses all the control panel and smokes in the cab after 3 tries they replaced a module they would not tell me what it is. Ford keeps telling me this truck has stability issues and its just the way it is. Please check into this before someone gets killed. The plow which came with the truck fully up hits the road while driving which they the dealer says is normal but could get hung up causing an accident. You really need to see and try this truck for yourself to see how unsafe it is.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Have had approximately $8000 in car repair bills in last few months for our 2002 Ford f250 diesel truck and 2005 Ford explorer XLT. Tremendous financial burden 2002 Ford f250 diesel truck - hubs seized, loss of control of vehicle premature rusting of vehicle body, tailgate but most importantly the oil pan in which replacing the old pan became an approximately $3,000 repair bill. 2005 Ford explorer - transmission went at 80,000 miles! hubs sieze.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

My year 2000 Ford F-250 truck burst into flames in my driveway today an hour and a half after I parked it. It's a total loss.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Picked up my f250 super duty from the service at the Ford dealer, driving it on the freeway overpass, hit a bump on the over pass and my front end started shaking violently. I had no conrol, I had to stop on the freeway to make it stop shaking, almost caused a pile up. Called the dealer and they said they've heard of the problem but nothing they can do.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Truck dies when driving it,this has happen twice. The truck would not start on two other times, when I went to daughter house and got in to leave. The truck has been towed to dealer all 4 times and they can not find any thing wrong. This is a new Ford 250 super duty diesel. It has 6533 miles on it,bought it 07/29/2010.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

Violent shaking/ vibrations @ highway speeds. I pulled over to complete stop, waited, started up and vibration stopped. This has happened on 3 occasions since.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

On Sunday may 1st. I was driving my Ford f250 on the freeway and noticed that smoke was coming out of the dashboard, and out of the the ac vents. I pulled over to the emergency lane of the freeway and opened the hood, we saw no smoke nor fire under the hood but just to be on the safe side I disconnected the battery. The smoke continued coming out through the dashboard I then proceeded to call aaa and they called the police. My son then called 911, and before the fire department arrived to the scene that truck caught fire and kept burning until the fire dept. Turned it off. The truck is now a total loss, aside from my truck burning up I had alot of work tools that burned in the fire as well.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Engine fire in my 2009 f250. I was driving along and started to see smoke and went to stop and pull over. When I went to apply the brakes they were hard to push and barely stopped the vehicle. The back tire locked up and skidded on the grass, but the front tire did nothing evident. There were burning flames dropping down from the firewall on the ground as we exited the vehicle. My insurance company is investigating a cause, but the fire chief could not determine anything. The only failure I had in the truck was the brakes and smoke. My wife and I had 4 kids in the truck with us and got out just on time.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

2008 Ford F-250xl, 5. 4l, auto. Engine runaway. While stopped at a stop sign the engine increased it's speed dramatically on it's own. Even with the brakes fully applied the vehicle still moved into a 4 way intersection. I shifted to neutral and the rpm's increased even more before the engine returned to normal operation. 10 minutes later I started the vehicle at my bank and placed the transmission in rev. The engine again rapidly increased the rpm's and I barely kept the vehicle from rocketing away backwards by holding my foot fully on the brake. I tried neutral but the rpm's surged even higher so I had to turn off the ignition. I restarted the vehicle and it operated normally on my trip home. The truck has a rubber floor and no mats. My foot was definitely on one pedal at a time. These malfunctions were totally out of the blue and very dangerous. Someone could have been injured or killed.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

I own a 2006 f - 250 sd, bought used with < 6k miles. I drive it to haul and tow several items and it has been a good truck. The only major issue is that if I hit a uneven surface, railroad tracks or bumps while traveling at speeds greater than 50 mph, the entire front end feels as if ts about to fall off. It shakes violently and the steering becomes almost impossible. The first time this happen I thought that I had a flat. I stopped the truck ASAP which was difficult. I got out and noticed nothing visibly wrong. This happened after crossing a rr tracks that is failry smooth, and located on a four lane. Tire pressure is checked often (every couple of weeks) and is inflated to the standard. I now know if I'm to keep this vehicle I must slow down to avoid an incident from occurring. It appears that many complaints have been written but have falling on deaf ears. It will likely take a death for someone to act. Tire pressure is not the issue. A serious and undermined issues remain. I invite you to come and drive the vehicle and go over the same rr crossing I did, then you may understand the concern. A recall has been ordered for less and needs attention now.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

My spark plug was ejected out of the cylinder head while driving. The threads were ripped out and damaged the coil pack attached to the spark plug. My vehicle is a 2003 Ford F-250, v-8 5. 4 liter triton engine.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

My spark plug was ejected out of the cylinder head while driving. The threads were ripped out and damaged the coil pack attached to the spark plug. My vehicle is a 2003 Ford F-250, v-8 5. 4 liter triton engine.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

I was driving north on I-95 ,when the rear of my F-250 started moving side to side out of control. I pulled over into the emergency lane, which took approx. One minutes with traffic. It was too late the tire separated and damaged the l-side of vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

While driving down the highway the engine hesitated then seized up. The driver pulled over and turned off the engine at which point the vehicle was in flames. The vehicle was a total loss. It is not known if this vehicle had a recalled cruise control switch and available information varies as to if this make/model was included. Also the dealer who sold us this vehicle approximately 14 months prior to the fire did not check for recalls prior to reselling the vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

Original factory spark plug ejected from engine on 2004 f250, leaving us stranded. Had to have vehicle towed and cylinder damage. Helicoil kit installed.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

1/1/10 isn't the first smog-out, but definitely the worst & most dangerous. While decending from the top of the mountain in gatlinburg in bumper to bumper traffic where it took 45-60 mins to go 2 miles, the exhaust cleaning was blowing suffocating and blinding blue smoke continuously. Then going through town where people are walking up & down beside the road (still in bumper to bumper traffic) it was still smogging the people walking and people driving behind me could not see. If a motorcycle or person ended up beside us when we had to stop for traffic lights, they would have been severely burned. It continued to clean down to pigeon forge for a total of 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Ford engineer was supposed to recalibrate to make sure it didn't clean if under 35 mph, but it does it all the time, sometimes day after day for hours.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

2007 Ford f250 4x4 super duty super cab. Severe shaking of front end between 55 and 60 miles an hour. Even freeway onramps can set it off. Happens nearly every time I accelerate. Only way to stop shaking is to slow down and or brake. Not safe on freeways as you can imagine. People have followed me to tell me that my front left wheel is oscillating in an oval. Very violent feeling. Getting worse.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-250. The contact received a recall notice in March of 2008. He called the manufacturer and was informed that his nearest dealer was 130 miles away. The contact does not feel that he should have to travel that far for a repair. He also believes that the manufacturer should pay or reimburse him for the fuel used to make the round trip. The recall information was unavailable. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 146,000.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

Truck had not been driven in just over a month and while sitting in the driveway the engine compartment caught fire. Firefighters were not able to determine where the fire started because they were unable to open the hood due to the fire damage.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

I was driving out my gravel driveway when the cable that holds the spare tire broke off. Contacted the dealer who said that no one else had experienced this problem. This could have been a serious incident if it had occurred on the highway or while towing a trailer.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

2000 Ford F-250 insufficient cup holder which caused the consumer to have an accident. Consumer states that the cup holder would not hold bottled water, and it fell out getting lodged under the brake pedal resulting in an accident. A passenger in the second vehicle was injured.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

Ford f250 7. 3 power stroke diesel cps (cam position sensor) failure . . . Truck dies when coming to stop at intersection, also died once in middle of left hand turn, coasted over railroad track. . . . . . Repaired once while under warranty 2 years ago(failed 3 times prior to repair) repaired by me after last incident date 8/16/07 (failed once), replaced cps with new one(new part#. . . . . . . Improved part????????? I hope)this is a common problem among the Ford 7. 3 power stroke diesel, check out the web forums!!!! this could be dangerous because without the motor running there are no brakes (hydro boost runs off power steering).

Unknown Or Other problem #28

My 2005 f250 super duty pickup truck vibrates violently when I cross a bump in the road at 65 mph or higher. This is very dangerous because it is bouncing so much that the stering and brakes do not work properly. So far this has only happened during traveling on a strait stretch. If it where on a curve, it would be impossible to stear. Sometimes it vibrates into the other lane. It is very scarey. Ford issued a sevice notice November 2011 stating tire inflation is the problem. This is not the problem as the tires are inflated properly. I have taken the truck to the dealer and they aligned the front end but that didn't help. Ford needs to find a fix for this problem and issue a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

My husband and I have a Ford f250 truck. It's a 2001 which we purchase in 3/2002. My husband was driving the truck when he heard a bang then the truck died. We had the truck towed to a local auto repair shop. The repair shop stated that they would not touch the truck because the spark plug blew out causing the head to blow. They stated that this is an ongoing thing with Ford trucks and Ford will not admit that they have an engineering problem with the motor. I brought this matter to the dealership and the Ford customer service departments attention. Neither one of them would assist me. They stated that we would be responsible for the repairs. After these phone calls I call a few other auto repair shops. They also stated that that was unusual that a spark plug would back out and even if the spark plug did back out that it was unusual that it would blow the head gasket. At this point we have to pay for the repairs which is 3,500. 00. I would like this matter looked into.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

I have a factory sonic blue paint job on my truck and the paint is peeling off of my truck at the top of my windshield.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

2002 Ford f250 super duty pickup. The spare tire came off while driving. The tire is carried under the bed and held in place with a steel cable and winch assembly, the cable broke that holds it in place. Thank goodness this happened on a low traffic county road, this spare tire is heavy and could be a dangerous traffic hazard if it were to hit a car traveling on the road. My first thought was it was a random isolated failure but I have talked to another Ford super duty owner that had the same problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

We have a 2001 Ford f250 the truck has shut off while driving 6 times. 3 times were near fatal. We get the vehicle towed to the dealership they say they fix it and then it happens again. We called files florida lemon law and they said because we did not file within the first two years of owning the car that it is not a lemon. First time occured 12/00 number 6 occured 6/05.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

The consumer stated when she purchased the vehicle the odometer read 21607, however when she ran a car fax report, the odometer read 45002 back in Sep 2004 and on oct 13, 2004 the odometer read 20656. There was noise in the rear of the vehicle when the consumer let off the accelerator.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

The spare tire hoist on our 2001 Ford f250 is jammed and will not pick up the spare tire. There is no safe, suitable place to store the spare tire. Leaving it along the road was not an option and there was no room behind the front seat. Leaving it in the truck bed where it is subject to theft isn't a viable option. Ford was notified, but said that the warranty had expired and that they will not repair the hoist. In the meantime we have an 80lb. Tire and no safe place to keep it.

Unknown Or Other problem #35

This complaint is on a 2003 Ford f 250 super duty desiel. . . . . On this date I started to cross an intersection on a busy street from a cross street. As the truck started to move and got into one lane of traffic the motor seemed to shut off, or I should say went to an idle although I was pressing on the accelarator pedal. . . . I looked down at the instrument panel and the "check engine" light was on and just as quick it went out and I had power again allowing me to get out of the way of oncoming traffic that almost hit me. . . . . . I though this to be odd but continued on my way. . . We had left mississippi and were on our way to central texas for the christmas holidays. . . . . . All went well for about 200 or so mile but the problem started to show it's face again. If I drove above 70 mph there wasn't any acclerator petal but I could drive with the cruise control. . . . . . When I would come up on a slower car if I disingaged the cruise I couldn't "drive" with the pedal so I would slow down and speed up with the cruse control. . . . . . . . All went well until we were about mid ways between dallas and fort worth texas. . . . . . . The problem started to get worse and the wasn't a pedal above 35 miles an hours. . . . We got off of the interstate at white settlement, texas and spent the night. . . . The next morning I drove the truck to a Ford dealer where they informed me that the accelerator pedal proxcemity swith was bad and that there was a recall on this item/truck. . . . . . This was covered by warrenty. . . . . . . . . . . . But. . . . . . . Ford motor company had never notified me. . . . The paper work that the service personnal gave me stated that there is a recall for this problem. . . . . . . In closing. . . The time that I went to cross that intersection if the accelerator hadn't started to work in time, I mostly likely would n't be here writing this complaint. . . . I've talked to a couple of service personal at different dealers and they all have told me that they are aware of the problem and the fix it.

Certified ltr requesting NHTSA initiate a defect investigation re selected Ford motor company vehicles left front inner bearings for advanced fatigue cracks. Complainant was recently asked to consult in the matter of a fatal high speed head on two-vehicle collision. While driving westbound 2001 Ford expedition veered into the oncoming lane and struck an eastbound 2000 Ford f250 long bed truck towing a 5th wheel travel trailer. The resulting collision killed the three occupants in the 2001 expedition and the two occupants in the 2000 Ford f250 pickup truck. The pick up truck and trailer were completely engulfed in flames upon officer's arrival. Metallurgical analysis showed that the left front inner bearing failed on the explorer as a result of progressive fatigue. The bearing failure occurred at approximately 30,000 miles. Please reference odi# 10139931 to obtain information on the 2001 Ford expedition.

Unknown Or Other problem #39

Consumer states that the engine lights comes on, the gas pedal cease to function, with engine still running, but vehicle wouldn't accelerate. This problem kept happening intermittenly all day. Dealer contacted. Ts.

Unknown Or Other problem #40

The vehicle will lose power with the engine light coming on, cause unknown. The Ford dealership has had the vehicle for three days, stating that vehicle was getting some sort of resistance. The vehicle was again failing with the same problem. The consumer states that he had taken the vehicle to another Ford dealer and they seemed to have remedied the problem-linkage accelerator. The windshield was leaking-resealed-still leaking. The vehicle has been okay since the last repair. Now the windshield is leaking water, and is running behind the dashboard. The consumer has also experienced the following: when stopping the vehicle feels like the drivline shifts forward-loud bang, when starting off, the vehicle shifts backwards, the connector is not fully seated(pcm module), and the injector harness intermittenly opens-repair loose left valve cover injector harness connector causing high resistance cleared.

Brakes- don't know what part would be considered defective. Have had it in atleast 9 separate occasions to anderson Ford in grand island, ne 120 diers Ave 68803. They have adjusted the camber on the brakes, replaced pads, and have had to adjust the alignment. Haven't had it in since Dec. 27, 2001, although brakes are pulling again. (anderson Ford said they would not warranty again). Tire- the entire sidewall has blown out with no holes in the tread area, caused me to loose control and go into ditch, have minor findor and paint damage did not report. Worker at garret tire at 3004 w. Old potash hwy, grand island 68803 said that the valve stem had a cut in it and caused the pressure to run low. Said the sidewall was basically running on the asphalt and that is what caused the side of the tire to completely blow out. Was not low when I started my travel. I have pictures and also have the tire and witnesses.

Cup holder coming apart.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

This truck has many problems. Strarting with the transmission going out, the front right side of the truck there is a distinctive "clunk" when put into gear; either forward or reverse. Then going interior; the "door ajar" light comes on it thinks that the doors are not shut, but you can slam all 4 doors shut and it still thinks the doors are "ajar" so that will keep the interior light on while driving. The interior light will go out if you get up to about 20 mph, then when you slow down to under 20mph it will come back on. The "warning bell" comes on and stays on even when the truck is shut off. Next the seat belts will some times work and some times not. Either the are hard to pull out or they will not retract. The tailgate cover has warped in not even 1 year after we had it.

I was taveling on the interstate at approximately at 60 mph when I came upon a pick-up truck that was traveling at approximately 20 mph and rammed into the back end. The Ford dealership that I bought the truck from was to do the repair work. Their body shop was to get with Ford to find out why the airbag did not deploy. The reason they told me was that the other vehicle was moving slightly and that Ford's airbags was not designed to go off in those situations. This to me is a feeble answer.
