Five problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 2000 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Front brakes, fade and extended stopping distance; there are float pins which keep the calipers centered over the rotors . They have seized up. The vehicle breaking was becoming sluggish. Repeated inspection of the front brake pads indicated their condition to be good. Eventually I decided to order new calipers with pads. These units came with 'new float pins'. Much to my surprise my calipers were good but they were locked in position because of the seized float pins. When the brakes were applied the pressure was to the inside pad only greatly lengthening the stopping distance. As the problem came on gradually I didn't realize how poor the braking had become until I rebuilt the system. The pins which need to slide for proper braking have little rubber boots to keep out road debris and water. These boots were not seated on the grove on the original caliper body. As the symptoms come on gradually there are other vehicles out there with severely degrading brake performance. Curiously the replacement calipers had a bag of spare parts.
Right front caliper won't release. Apparently common problem with 4x4 per mechanic. Gouged out rotor and almost caused accident.
During brake application while driving at any speed vehicle will pull intermittently to right and / or left, more severe at higher speeds. Dealership has examined vehicle nine times, and replaced brake calipers/pads/ lines/ rear spring shackle adjustments, and positive caster. Dealership has been unable to effectively remedy problem ,and informed consumer no more service would be performed on this vehicle. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Vehicle sways while driving. Dealer has aligned vehicle, and consumer has purchased new tires and vehicle still sways. Front end pulls right when braking due to brake caliper failure.
Air intake hose to the manifold came loose when the turbo was needed. Intake hose has been replaced four times between February and may with less than 5,000 miles on vehicle. Axle/calipers and repairs to driveline had to been made because of the air intake manifold. Ford was replacing the truck. Please provide any further information.
