general problems of the 2000 Ford F-350

Three problems related to structure have been reported for the 2000 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Structure problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2004

While pulling into my garage I heard a strange clunck noise from the rear end. It turned out to be my spare tire falling off. The factory spare tire carrier cable broke. The cable showed no signs of corrosion, I finally found the crimped on end in the driveway to confirm the cable broke at the point of crimp. Thank goodness this happened in my driveway and not at 70mph, who knows what kind of damage or who would have been killed as a result of this. I called my local Ford dealership to inquire on a recall or at least a TSB, none existed. I installed a safety chain to catch the spare should the cable break again.

2 Structure problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2001

Blue smoke coming from tail pipe. Form letter reply. The tail latch was sticking, the rotor had to be machined, the windshield had to be re-sealed due to it leaking, the ball joints and serpentine belt were replaced, the valve cover gasket was leaking and had to be replaced.

3 Structure problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2001

Cab floor cracking at seat mounting bolts. Dealer has denied warranty repairs. Nlm.
