Five problems related to hydraulic power assist steering system have been reported for the 2002 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Ford F-350sd 2002 4x4 diesel. When breaks are applied you cant turn the stearing wheel. Reving up the engin does not help. The truck is stock.
While braking after driving 30 mph, vehicle lost power steering control. Consumer managed to regain control of vehicle, and pulled over to side of the road. Took vehicle to dealership where mechanic determined the cause of steering problem.
When the brakes were applied the power steering failed. The dealer inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate or correct the problem.
While driving at any speed vehicle intermittently stalled in drive or in reverse. Vehicle had been to the dealer eight times for this problem. Each time dealer examines the vehicle, but the problem was not resolved. When vehicle stalled, this caused consumer to loose power steering and subsequently causing an accident to take place. Consumer suffered sever pain in neck and back. Expert's automotive report from nextech evaluated that vehicle has execessive effort required to turn steering wheel. Condition occurs when the engine is at idle speed, with accessories operating and vehicle is in gear, forward or reverse. Problem appeared to lessen when engine's rpm increased. Also, the stalling of the vehicle was caused by a fault in the power steering system.
