The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer stated that the air blockers failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and acknowledged the failure but provided no assistance. The failure and the current mileage was 98,000.
Upon leaving the freeway at 55mph, I proceeded up the exit ramp to a stop light. I braked to slow and noticed that the vehicle was still creeping forward and the engine was still racing. I slammed the brake all the way to the floorboard and shifted the automatic gearshift into park as the engine was still racing. The engine only then returned to a normal idle. If anyone was in front of me I would have hit them or continued into the intersection. Vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer but they have yet to determine the problem.

Without prior warning while in traffic vehicle surged forward while pressing the brake pedal, causing a collision with a tree. There were minor injuries. Both driver and passenger were transported by ambulance.

The contact stated that the vehicle will rev up to 2000 rpms, and if the vehicle is in drive the vehicle will start to accelerate without touching the gas pedal. The contact stated that the failure has been going on since the vehicle was purchased and has progressively gotten worse. The dealer stated that the failure occurs because the injector control pressure sensor is causing the failure. The failure mileage was 75 and the current mileage was 33714.
Loss of power while attempting to accelerate. Took it to Ford dealer and was told that there was no fix, that I should pull over and turn off the ignition and reset the computer to correct the problem. This could result in a seriuos (head-on) collision if it occur while passing on a two lane road.
