Fuel Injection problems of the 2004 Ford F-350

Six problems related to fuel injection have been reported for the 2004 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Fuel Injection problem

The truck started to stall on several occasions as I was attempting to get up to road speed of 55 mph. The truck was losing speed, jerking and black smoke coming out of the exhaust. There were no indications of engine failure to warn me of any problems, ie. Engine light. This occurred on more than once, causing potential traffic hazard. 2 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

The contact owns a 2004 Ford f350. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the fuel injection control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

3 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350 super duty. The contact was traveling 40 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and was able to restart the engine. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and was informed that there was a loss of communication to the fuel injection control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,000.

4 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Ford f350. While the vehicle was parked the contact turned the key in the ignition and the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technicians stated that the fuel injection control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that there was a recall on the 2004 Ford f450 for the same failure but not for the f350. The approximate failure mileage was 178,000.

5 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact placed the gear shifter into neutral and was able to restart the vehicle. In addition, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. While driving various speeds, the battery, oil pressure and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injection control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they did not have a record of the vehicle being serviced. No further assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

6 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2007

Vehicle had a stalling problem on accelleration. Vehicle idled fine, but frequently on acceleration from a stop after vehicle started to roll. Engine will misfire, shutter, or backfire for several seconds until clearing up. Also, vehicle misfired at highway speeds. Vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occations to find the cause of the problem, but they reported could not duplicate the problem. Dealer replaced several injectors and egr valve to no avail.
