The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that fuel was leaking underneath the front driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the fuel pump block-off plate and plug. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
This vehicles issues began with the galvanizing of the interior of the fuel tank flaking off and getting into the fuel system. It is a diesel. It has been to the shop to have the fuel tank replaced, injectors replaced, high pressure fuel pump replaced to name a few. All after the fuel tank problem. Since then the vehicle has shut down a number of times while on the highway. This is extremely hazardous to lose all power. Fortunately our drivers have been able to maneuver it off the highway before causing an accident. Ford has denied having a problem with their fuel tanks; however, when we checked around we found it to be quite common. In fact we had a difficult time securing a new tank because there were so many replacements being done. I believe Ford should step forward and admit there is an issue and deal with it. We discussed this with a zone manager and got nowhere.
Fuel tank liner is delaminating causing fuel system to clog up and truck to lose power. Ford refuses to cover this problem under warranty saying it is not their fault.
Was driving on a heavy traffic highway, in the middle lane, and truck just quit running. This is unjustifiable!! over $5000. 00 in repairs to get to get this truck to run! why hasn't Ford issued a recall on this notorious problem on these diesel engines?! I will continue to pursue a class act lawsuit over this, I do believe there are enough Ford owners very unhappy regarding these continuing issues.

This is a 2006 Ford ambulance that has been having issue's with the fuel system over the past two years the most recent was during a emergency response when the ambulance lost power and shut down the crew was unable to complete their response to the emergency because the ambulance would not restart. The ambulance was towed to the Ford dealership they reported the fuel tank was coming apart on the inside and clogging the fuel system. We contacted Ford and complain of all the fuel problem and the most resent the fuel tank the end result was their claiming its not their problem but ours the repair est is over $7000. 00 this ambulance has spent more time in the shop then responding to emergency calls and has left our crews sit while in route or on the scene of medical emergency. The Ford dealer and Ford motor company refuse to do anything to correct this problem we have never had these type of problems with any ambulance we owned over the past 15 years and a ambulance breaking down in the middle of a emergency call is a dangerous issue to the patient and crew . . . . . .
We own a Ford F-350 diesel pickup. It is a 2006, purchased new. It has had repeated power failure in the last two and half years, with other similar problems before that. Most recently we had it towed to our dealership to the tune of $2500. 00 repair for fuel injectors and fuel injector modules. The problem, is safety for our lives and possibly others in our path. The vehicle has recurring engine failure causing it to die while driving. This has happened not only at a stop light, but through intersections, and on straight roads. We most recently had it die twice while pulling 2 horses in a trailer. Quickly shifting into neutral to restart to avoid an accident. It had to be towed to our home just last Thursday April 14th due to not restarting. Today, April 18th, we took this truck to our local Ford dealership as was recommended by Ford motor CO. Apparently there is an issue with these trucks having engine/power failure and other things associated with the International parts that were used for this year truck. We are retired, trying to run a business which depends on this pickup. We are fearful of this happening while driving on a highway, through an intersections, or coming to a stop and losing poser. Our lives are at stack and those around us. Our warranty is up on the truck. The last time is was just out of warranty one month. No one from Ford ever mentioned renewing our warranty at any time either. We would like to see this addressed as there are thousands out there having similar issues. It is not just a "lemon", it is an error made that should be recalled.
2006 Ford F-350 super duty diesel dump truck. This truck has been to crowley Ford in plainville CT. Over 50 times , yes thats right I said 50. The truck has been towed in no less than 6 times in 4 years. Many times leaving a crew of 5 stranded on the side of a highway. Ford technicians have not been able to determine what is wrong with the vehicle. Truck will suddenly loose power or just shut off. Ford has denied that there is anything wrong with this particular truck and motor but there are many contractors in our area that are having the same problem. Recently the truck sat at crowley Ford from March 1 through the end of March, their techs nor Fords techs could figure out what was wrong with it. They are still denying that the gas tank delamination has any bearing on the situation. Completely disgusted with Ford and their lack of attention. I assume its going to take a fatality or two before the press picks up on this story and finally holds Ford accountable. In the mean time small contractors and truck owners are taking it in the wallet because Ford will not acknowledge this problem. Please help us out here!!!.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350 sd. While driving 50 mph the vehicle stalled. After three attempts the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the diesel fuel tank was contaminated and the coating inside the tank came apart. They will not repair the failure under warranty because he used the wrong diesel fuel. The contact will be responsible for the repair cost of $7,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 11,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350 diesel. The vehicle at idle or driving down the road will without notice begin to buck, and suddenly increase rpm's and accelerate,or will stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the erg valve. That corrected it for about 30 days and then it started it again. I took it back and they told me I would have to replace the manifold next, because the carbon that had built up in the manifold. After a lenghtly discussion they admitted that this is a serious problem with this engine. The Ford engineers told them that this engine was designed by International for the european market and their diesel fuel is more refined than ours, stating that is what is causing the problem. Ford refuses to stand bethind the problem. Just look at the internet about the 6. 0 diesel engine and there is page after page stating the same problems. At this point I have not corrected the problem, I am still trying to decide how I shall proceed. The vehicle has 96,000 miles. I have only used exxon or shell fuel.
F-350 egr cooler went bad and smoked up entire neighborhood. Other motorists could not see as the smoke emitted from my F-350 was like a very very thick fog. I contacted Ford, who knows about the ongoing and extensive problem, but they refuse to do anything but "document" the problem and want NHTSA to make it a recall. Apparently there are a lot of other F-350 owners with the same problem. This is very dangerous. I'm not sure if the fumes that are emitted from this problem are safe either.
Engine filters get clogged up and cause the truck to run erratically and stall, caused from debris from a faulty fuel tank.

Diesel fuel tank failure on 2006 f350 powerstroke.
2006 Ford F-350 fuel tank liner failures. Tank liner coming apart causing the fuel tank needing to be relined, and replacing the fuel pump and fuel filter.
Fuel tank delaminated causing engine stutter or complete shut off. Fuel tank replaced by Ford under warranty. Had vehicle in for service/ repair and was told that there was problems with new tank but that it was not covered under warranty.
I purchased a new 2006 Ford F-350 diesel truck from monaco Ford in glastonbury, CT. The vehicle now has 52,000 miles and has been in for service twice for lack of power. The service dept at monaco says the problem is that the gas tank is deteriorating & the fuel pump is compromised. I have researched the problem and found numerous complaints from Ford owners this exact issue. Ford refuses to take responsibility. They insist that the problem is fuel, not their product. I do not use bio-diesel fuel or buy from discount fuel suppliers. How can so many owners have the identical problem? Ford motor company needs to recall these vehicles. Suddenly loosing power on the highway in a large, heavy truck because an inferior part was used, is a real safety issue. I respectfully request that you register this complaint and look into the issue of recalling deteriorating gas tanks in Ford products. Updated 11/07/08.
