Failure Date: 12/17/2025

On this day, I financed the vehicle and was promised that it was safe to be on the road. This is the second vehicle. He’s done this to me with. He gets these vehicles and just put stickers in the windows and then people break down or their lives are in jeopardy so I left there after I purchased the truck the following day I was driving and I noticed a bunch of defects which included a death wobble, front end parts being bad and engine light being on I took it to another shop and they said that it should’ve never even gotten an inspection sticker I also went on carfax. Com and found out that the vehicle did not go through any emissions test and being a diesel it’s supposed to that’s why the engine lights are on on the third day of owing it. The driveshaft snapped right off this dealership has multiple reviews and reports of being shady and just putting inspection stickers in the windows. He has somebody at another auto shop that he pays extra just to put the sticker in the window not only is this unsafe for other people it’s not fair and it’s illegal and he does it all the time every vehicle on his lot has issues and the inspections are not done at alll so many issues half of them shouldn’t even be on the road. The dealership is. Low priced auto in rome NY and the people who inspect are sharkeys auto in rome.

Within a span of 30 min. I experienced 3 uncontrollable steering oscillations also known as the "death wobble. " the dw experienced, the speeds were around 50 miles per hour. Less than that, the aforementioned oscillations were not experienced. Reason for the 30 min time frame was due to making it back home from the first occurrence. First oscillation was on smooth road, the other two were on less than smooth roads.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

While traveling down the highway at the speed limit, the truck hit a bump and started to shake violently. I slowed down and pulled over to resecure a freezer that was shook loose. We continued on and when I went to make the next right turn, one of the straps, which was sliced during the death wobble, snapped. The freezer slid and seesawed over a cooler. The corner of the freezer came through the rear window striking my wife in the arm and head. I have brought the truck to multiple shops, replaced steering stabilizer, shock, and tires to no avail.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2023

I own a 2011 Ford F-350 lariat dually truck and was driving down the highway at approximately 60 mph, when I hit a bump in the road and all of a sudden my truck started to shake violently. I didn't know what happened as this was the first time this has ever happened. I thought something happened with the rear wheels on my truck. I was shaken up, scared and had to stop on the side of a busy road to see what it was. I looked around the truck and didn't see anything and was unaware of the famous "death wobble" that are notorious on f-250 & F-350 Ford trucks. I then returned to the highway with my flashers on and drive, but at a lot slower speed because I was unsure of what caused the shake. I was able to make it home safely and I told my husband about it. He wanted to see if it would happen to him so he took it for a spin and it happened to him 3 times in a 5 mile trip. Therefore he came home and parked the truck. We took it to Ford and they advised that this issue is common. Having a vehicle with this unwanted feature is a concern as we purchased this truck to run a business and now it just sits. Please put yourself in others shoes. Imagine you are traveling 70 mph down the interstate with a loaded trailer and you hit a bump or change lanes and the death wobble starts to happen. Would the driver be able to prevent a horrific accident from happening or cause one by trying to slow to an acceptable speed and sometimes completely stopping just to get the uncontrollable shaking to stop. This could cause a very bad outcome for the driver and possibly other unsuspecting drivers that are unaware of the issue / situation. This is not the situation any driver wants to be in on any highway. Please consider doing a recall on all Ford F-350's trucks so that this issue can be corrected and give owners peace of mind. Imagine if your family was traveling and this happened. I ask you, how would you handle this situation?.

8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2022

At any given time traveling over speeds of 50-60 mph truck has a wobble that can't be stopped until I slow down completely. At highway speeds this can be very dangerous.

9 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

When you hit a bump, the truck violently shakes. This usually occurs at speeds greater than 40mph. The only way to get it to stop is to come to almost a complete stop. Very dangerous if someone is behind you and you have to stop fast to get it to stop. This occurs very frequently. I replaced parts the repair ship tells me is bad and the problem continues to occur. This occurs almost every time I drive.

10 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2022

The steering gets stiff all of a sudden. You have to pull it back when making a turn right or left. It happens intermittent. If you had to swerve to miss an animal or road obstruction you could be in a world of trouble. It seems to be happening more frequent now. Had a shop look at it but didn't act up. We will try again. I'm not they only one having this problem.

11 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2021

The vehicle is shaking terrible at 50 maybe 60 mph can't tel exactly because I was scared . I got new tires and is still doing same. I was on hwy 83 toward scott city KS.

12 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2021

My low mileage 2011 f350 has what has been called a "death shake". If while driving at highway speeds I hit a bump the wrong way the front wheels seem to go in non-parallel directions, causing the vehicle to bounce from side to side. During this time there is no control or steering possible. The goal is simply to hang on and not get thrown from the seat. (the bouncing from side to side has destroyed my relatively new shocks. ) braking hard to slow the vehicle will eventually realign the wheels and allow me to regain control. This has been happening for over a year. In September 2021 I paid over $2,500 to capital Ford, hillsborough, nc for the problem to be repaired. They replaced a rod and ball joint in the front end, aligned the front wheels, and told me the problem was fixed. I still have the problem. I am very surprised, and apparently lucky, that I have not been involved in a major accident or run off the road into something while my truck was bouncing from side to side and I had no control. (I have ended up off the road but have been lucky enough to have not hit anyone. ) when this happens, vehicles around me get as far from me as they can as it is quite clear something very dangerous is happening. My wife's internet search turned up many f350s with exactly the same problem. This is where I learned this was called a "death shake". Her search also showed that Ford does not seem to know what to do about the problem, as they have no standard fix for the repair and many "fixed vehicles" still exhibit the death shake. At this stage I don't know what to do with the vehicle. Its book value is over $20,000, yet I don't dare sell the vehicle as it may kill someone. I clearly can't afford to junk it. Ford apparently doesn't know how to fix it. It's that or Ford isn't willing to admit this is a major design flaw and is unwilling to incur the cost of a recall. My only hope at this stage, is for the NHTSA to order Ford to recall and fix the f350 front ends.

13 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

When driving down the roads the front end and steering wheel goes into a violent shaking and vibration to point where I have to almost stop the truck. It seems to happen on both town roads and highways it also seems to be worse on the highway.

14 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2020

Vehicle hit a pothole on interstate 75 north near dalton georgia at approximately 65 miles per hour. The front right wheel and front end violently shook and the steering wheel shook so bad control of the f350 became an issue. I was unable to control the vehicle until I slowed to below 20 miles per hour. The incident presented a very serious safety issue.

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

On multiple occasions when driving at highway speeds when I run across ruff roads or bumps the trucks front end begins to wobble and shake. The shake is worse if I am in any kind of turn, but it will do it on straight roads also. I must slow down to under 30 mph to regain control of vehicle. I have taken it into Ford dealerships and gotten no results. One dealership claimed it to be in the ball joints and I had them replaced but the problem still exists. Doing online research, I am seeing others with the same issue and some calling it the death wobble. I have been experiencing this since 2018 but the last time was 10/22/2020.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Driving my 2011 Ford F-350 today and hit a bump doing 55mph on a black top road going straight forward, after the bump the "death wobble" started and almost shook my pickup into the ditch. I had to slow down to 20 mph to get it to stop. After a lot of reading, this is a common problem in Ford super dutys that are my pickups age and brand new. Why have they not fixed this problem and made a recall to fix all the older pickups as well??!!.

17 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

I was driving and my steering arms caught on fire.

18 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2020

Death warble twice 7/15/2020 on the highway doing the speed limit almost killed several people with truck and empty trailer. Death warble needs to be addressed immediately. Have spent too much time and money on a truck that should be considered unsafe to drive on the freeway.

19 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2020

The steering wheel shakes violently . It occurs at above 50mph. The steering wheel can not be held or the vehicle controlled. You have to slow to almost a stop to regain control of the wheel and ultimately the vehicle. The shacking was very subtle to begin with but now it is getting more violent as time goes on.

20 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2020

On three separate occasions while driving on highway at approximately 70 mph the front wheels began oscillating (death wobble) after going over a rough patch of road or bridge expansion joints. The oscillation makes it impossible to steer and the only way it will stop is to slow down to 25 mph or below. Nearly struck in the rear end by another vehicle while trying to regain control.

21 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Driving about 60 mph on new highway, steering wheel started rocking violently just about lost control, steering wheel whipped so hard the spoke on the steering wheel hit and hurt my thumb. Took truck to dealer who found everything within Ford acceptable specifications. Dealer said wear was found recommended replacing all moving parts in front suspension plus new shocks and tires. $4000. 00.

24 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2018

08during 2018 we took an extended camping trip to maine. It was at this time we experienced the most instances of what I have heard called "death wobble". The first time was in pennsylvania pulling the fifth wheel camper when we hit a pothole and was terrified I was going lose control. This occurred at least three more times, once more with the cmper and twice just traveling with the truck, but all brought on by hitting a bump in the pavement. All happened on interstates and fairly heavy traffic. Having to come almost to a stop in heavy traffic is not something no one should have to experience. In 2019 we finally got to where we could financially have a Ford dealer look at. This. They replaced the ball joints , upper and lower and aligned the front end. So far it has not occurred again.

25 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2018

I was driviing on the highway 65mph an the truck started the death wobble it was out of control. Things on the back seat landed on the floor due to the uncontrolable shaking of the truck. I had to slow down which I almost caused an accident. This is a scary an unsafe issue. . It has happened quite a bit an is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt or even die. Something has got to be done. Ford has got to recognize they have a big issue here an do something about it. I have to keep the speed down an even then its still an issue. I am scared to drive the truck its that bad in one instance I thought I was gonna die I couldnt get it to stop finally was able to get over to the breakdown lane an stop I was shaking an scared to death. I have not been to the dealership due to dueing my research an findin out it was the death wobble an there is no fix for it. Please there has got to be something you can do to help I would appreciate it. Thank-you.

26 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

At speeds of 55 to 60mph, mostly when hitting some kind of bump or dip in the road the truck steering wheel goes out of control shaking back and forth, along with the entire front of the truck. I have to slam on the brakes and it does not stop untill the truck is almost completely stopped. Is been in and out of automotive shops with the problem still remaining. When looking it up online (the world wide web) this is definitely a very common Ford issue and not just individual trucks. The shaking is so violent you can barely keep it in control and waiting for something to break. I can't believe this is not a safety recall issue.

27 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350 sd. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle shook violently. The contact had to apply the brakes to slow down the vehicle and stop the shaking. 28 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

My wife and I were driving on I 70 west of denver heading towards silt colorado. We were coming down a hill that had a bridge and a turn at the bottom. As soon as we hit the approach to the bridge our truck start what I call a "death wobble" as this portion of the rockies is very steep with narrow corners I was faced with a struggle for life in my opinion. We had brand new tires on it and a fresh alignment. The truck shook violently and I was afraid for our lives. We promptly took the truck to our dealership (columbine Ford) explained the situation and they gave us a loaner. When we got the truck back I took it for a test drive only to find out that the problem still existed. I still have the exact same problem!! I have been a Ford man my whole lifeboat I cannot continue to be a loyal customer when they disregard the problem with fake fixes!!! my wife and grandchildren are far too important to me to allow this to go on without Ford addressing the situation!!.

29 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Death wobble, has been to dealer several times. Said it was the tires cupping less than 20,000 miles new tires did not help, they aligned it and said they rotated tires. Now it is back, 40,600 miles, just as bad a ever. They know the problem and refuse to repair as there is no safety recall. Guess it will take a few deaths to get some help or a high named political/sport/rich figure, for any help. Yes for us to spend $1500 bucks there may be some relief. Why should we need to pay for something they know how to repair. It is the same problem associated to the 1967/68 Ford bronco. We had one at the albertville dealer when as a young man almost lost my life driving it as I went across the median and 2 lanes of traffic when I worked there in service. Speed 45 to 70 mph on any road surface at any time it wants to act up, only way to stop is slow down several times till is stops hope it will not come back. This is verrrrry in-nerving when pulling our 2014 redwood 42' RV with a combined weight of 24,600 pounds. How many kids< children<adults can I kill should this cause the steering gear box to bust, as it did on the bronco??.

30 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2017

When traveling at highway speeds while turning slightly left and hitting any moderate bump in the road the truck shimmys violently and does not stop until speed is reduced to under 20 mph. While the shimmy is occurring steering control becomes nearly impossible. There seems to be an un-dampened oscillation or severe vibration of the front wheels. Not sure what the cause is. I've had the front end looked at and been told everything looks tight and the tire pressure is even and correct. I have also personally lifted the truck and inspected all the steering components and do not see obvious play in any of the ball joints, tie-rod ends, sway bar etc. The truck also has had new shocks within the past 200 miles and that did not help. This problem has occurred more than once and is repeatable given the right conditions. I had purchased this truck April 2016 and during the test drive I complained of a vibration. The service people took nearly a month to figure out a cause. What the did helped, but the vibration never truly went away. This slight steady vibration seems to be related to the sever vibration because it is of exactly the same frequency and speeds, just under normal circumstances the truck is very controllable.

31 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced the death wobble after driving over a bump in the road. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

32 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2016

At any freeway speed if you hit a pot hole or a seam in the road on a turn, the truck will shake violently until you come to a stop. We have had Ford look at this a number of times with not success in getting a solution. The truck is not safe and it has happened to multiple drivers of this truck.

33 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

Truck goes into a death wobble when driving 60mph or faster. Usually happens when you go over a bridge, cattle guard or bump in the road. Cause the cehicle to shake uncontrollably and you have to come to almost a complete stop. I have had Ford work on it and nothing has cured the problem. This issue is going to cause serious accidents if not taken seriously.

34 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

When traveling usually at highway speeds and I come to a difference in surfaces a slight difference in the road say going over an overpass, the stearing wheel shakes violently. On you tube there are hundreds of videos about this problem. Its very dangerous, I left the dealership today and after spending $1,300 to repair the problem I can only assume that this will be a year or two fix as the same parts will fail again. Ford should solve this problem.
