Failure Date: 12/17/2025

On this day, I financed the vehicle and was promised that it was safe to be on the road. This is the second vehicle. He’s done this to me with. He gets these vehicles and just put stickers in the windows and then people break down or their lives are in jeopardy so I left there after I purchased the truck the following day I was driving and I noticed a bunch of defects which included a death wobble, front end parts being bad and engine light being on I took it to another shop and they said that it should’ve never even gotten an inspection sticker I also went on carfax. Com and found out that the vehicle did not go through any emissions test and being a diesel it’s supposed to that’s why the engine lights are on on the third day of owing it. The driveshaft snapped right off this dealership has multiple reviews and reports of being shady and just putting inspection stickers in the windows. He has somebody at another auto shop that he pays extra just to put the sticker in the window not only is this unsafe for other people it’s not fair and it’s illegal and he does it all the time every vehicle on his lot has issues and the inspections are not done at alll so many issues half of them shouldn’t even be on the road. The dealership is. Low priced auto in rome NY and the people who inspect are sharkeys auto in rome.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle experienced a death wobble. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel were shuddering violently from the right to the left, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact stated that he was able to regain control of the vehicle upon decelerating to 10 mph. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to litchfield auto repair, where the axle track bar ball joint, the steering damper, the drag link, and the tie rod or the tie rod end were replaced. Additionally, the mechanic performed the front alignment; however, the failure recurred while driving 75 mph and hitting a bump. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was inspected, and the contact was informed that the previous repair was performed correctly. The dealer replaced the tires because the tires were worn out. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.

Within a span of 30 min. I experienced 3 uncontrollable steering oscillations also known as the "death wobble. " the dw experienced, the speeds were around 50 miles per hour. Less than that, the aforementioned oscillations were not experienced. Reason for the 30 min time frame was due to making it back home from the first occurrence. First oscillation was on smooth road, the other two were on less than smooth roads.

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

While traveling down the highway at the speed limit, the truck hit a bump and started to shake violently. I slowed down and pulled over to resecure a freezer that was shook loose. We continued on and when I went to make the next right turn, one of the straps, which was sliced during the death wobble, snapped. The freezer slid and seesawed over a cooler. The corner of the freezer came through the rear window striking my wife in the arm and head. I have brought the truck to multiple shops, replaced steering stabilizer, shock, and tires to no avail.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2022

At any given time traveling over speeds of 50-60 mph truck has a wobble that can't be stopped until I slow down completely. At highway speeds this can be very dangerous.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

When you hit a bump, the truck violently shakes. This usually occurs at speeds greater than 40mph. The only way to get it to stop is to come to almost a complete stop. Very dangerous if someone is behind you and you have to stop fast to get it to stop. This occurs very frequently. I replaced parts the repair ship tells me is bad and the problem continues to occur. This occurs almost every time I drive.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2021

We were driving in a street road and hit a small bump and the car started shaking violently and my husband lost control of steering, we almost hit a light pole but were able to reduce the speed and only hit the curve. When we slowed down the tie rod was broken and we had to call for road assistance. All of the things we experienced were exactly as they are described by other people who have experienced the “death wobble”. There were no warnings that it was going to happen, it was sudden. Luckily we weren’t in a highway so we weren’t going at high speed, but otherwise it would have been very dangerous also for the cars surrounding us. After the incident we took our car to Ford to be repaired and it was a very expensive repair, they didn’t give us a reason as to why it happened but that just left us wondering if it might happen again in the future. The insurance company doesn’t seem interested in getting in touch with us to see if there is something they can help us with. And now we are just left to hope it doesn’t happen again to us or other people. Ford needs to recall his trucks.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2021

On 5/8/21, while driving at approximatly55-60 mph, I hit a pothole on hwy231 south (4 lane) and the front end of my 2011 f350 truck started to shake violently and became hard to steer. I had to almost stop before it quit shaking. I was afraid we (wife & I) were going to loose control and hit another vehicle. I took it to a repair shop and after inspection, they told me there was a problem only a Ford dealer could fix. The shop had seen this before and Ford refused to tell them what parts were needed to do that fix. On 5/12/21, I took the truck to tallassee automotive Ford dealer for repair. After inspection, they said they knew the problem and could fix it for $1100 (or $11?? something. I was flabbergasted at the amount, but had to have it fixed and agreed. They oredered parts and called two days later to come pick it up. Upon arrival, they said my bill was $1450. I complained loudly that they told me $1100 something. After consultation between someone I did not see, they agreed to discount it by $300. Later someone told me they had heard of this Ford problem and I should look it up online. I did and found stories about something called the "death wabble. " my purpose for this complaint is to add my voice to the group of pepople who have had a similar experience and may require Ford motor company to take responsibility for their obvious design flaw that could cause injuries or death to unknowing people. As for the repairs, it seems they replaced everything between the two front wheels and the steering column. Not being a mechanic, I do not know what caused this or what was really necessary to fix it. No symptoms before this incident indicated there was anything wrong with my truck. There were no warnings or events that could have made me check out any problem like this situation. I have not contacted Ford motor CO. , the police, or insurance company. Looking on the internet, it is apparent Ford is aware of thiis problem and claims no responsibility.

11 Suspension problem

The vehicle is shaking terrible at 50 maybe 60 mph can't tel exactly because I was scared . I got new tires and is still doing same. I was on hwy 83 toward scott city KS.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2021

My low mileage 2011 f350 has what has been called a "death shake". If while driving at highway speeds I hit a bump the wrong way the front wheels seem to go in non-parallel directions, causing the vehicle to bounce from side to side. During this time there is no control or steering possible. The goal is simply to hang on and not get thrown from the seat. (the bouncing from side to side has destroyed my relatively new shocks. ) braking hard to slow the vehicle will eventually realign the wheels and allow me to regain control. This has been happening for over a year. In September 2021 I paid over $2,500 to capital Ford, hillsborough, nc for the problem to be repaired. They replaced a rod and ball joint in the front end, aligned the front wheels, and told me the problem was fixed. I still have the problem. I am very surprised, and apparently lucky, that I have not been involved in a major accident or run off the road into something while my truck was bouncing from side to side and I had no control. (I have ended up off the road but have been lucky enough to have not hit anyone. ) when this happens, vehicles around me get as far from me as they can as it is quite clear something very dangerous is happening. My wife's internet search turned up many f350s with exactly the same problem. This is where I learned this was called a "death shake". Her search also showed that Ford does not seem to know what to do about the problem, as they have no standard fix for the repair and many "fixed vehicles" still exhibit the death shake. At this stage I don't know what to do with the vehicle. Its book value is over $20,000, yet I don't dare sell the vehicle as it may kill someone. I clearly can't afford to junk it. Ford apparently doesn't know how to fix it. It's that or Ford isn't willing to admit this is a major design flaw and is unwilling to incur the cost of a recall. My only hope at this stage, is for the NHTSA to order Ford to recall and fix the f350 front ends.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

When driving down the roads the front end and steering wheel goes into a violent shaking and vibration to point where I have to almost stop the truck. It seems to happen on both town roads and highways it also seems to be worse on the highway.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2021

On the highway driving about 60 mph and the front end and the steering wheel starts to shake uncontrollably. I had to slow down to about 20 mph on the highway before the shaking stopped. It’s done this over 10 times now. Each time scarier than the last.

Failure Date: 11/08/2020

Truck is experiencing death wobble at highway speeds, happened numerous times over last several months after Ford replaced many components of front end.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2020

Vehicle hit a pothole on interstate 75 north near dalton georgia at approximately 65 miles per hour. The front right wheel and front end violently shook and the steering wheel shook so bad control of the f350 became an issue. I was unable to control the vehicle until I slowed to below 20 miles per hour. The incident presented a very serious safety issue.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

I was driving and my steering arms caught on fire.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2020

Death warble twice 7/15/2020 on the highway doing the speed limit almost killed several people with truck and empty trailer. Death warble needs to be addressed immediately. Have spent too much time and money on a truck that should be considered unsafe to drive on the freeway.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2020

The steering wheel shakes violently . It occurs at above 50mph. The steering wheel can not be held or the vehicle controlled. You have to slow to almost a stop to regain control of the wheel and ultimately the vehicle. The shacking was very subtle to begin with but now it is getting more violent as time goes on.

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2020

At high speeds the truck enters into a death wobble.

21 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2020

On three separate occasions while driving on highway at approximately 70 mph the front wheels began oscillating (death wobble) after going over a rough patch of road or bridge expansion joints. The oscillation makes it impossible to steer and the only way it will stop is to slow down to 25 mph or below. Nearly struck in the rear end by another vehicle while trying to regain control.

22 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

My super duty is doing a death wobble which is violent shaking in the truck it only happens on the highway and there is no warning to when it happens and doesn't happen all the time my friend has 90 of those trucks and more than half of his are doing it Ford replaced everything in the front end and he drove 5 miles and it started to do it again Ford has no idea how to fix the problem and it's happening to the whole line of super dutys I have almost killed myself and other people because of this problem I don't know what else to do Ford is going to take it in and see what they find but I am not confident that they will be able to fix it my truck is stock with 68k mileage 2nd owner every service has been done at the same dealership they either need to do a recall or give me another truck because I have called everyone been to multiple dealerships and each one told me that it was a different problem in the front end the truck is still under warranty this first started in June and has happened every time I get on the highway at least once so I stopped driving on the highway because someone is going to get killed and because Ford won't acknowledge that there is a problem the warranty won't cover it if you send me a way to send you a video of this I will Ford headquarters is going to try and get this fixed or possibly buy back the truck but it is paid for and I don't want a truck payment so I would only accept something like a new truck or more than what it is worth which is 40000.

23 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2018

Death wobble, I have replaced every single parts that moves on the front of the truck and at 60 mph turning slightly left and hit any kind of bump in the road and steering oscillating left and right and only way to stop is to brake hard down to 25 mph, Ford unwilling to help. Truck has been in the shop 5 times for 3 days each time, at a total cost of $3800. It started June 20th 2018 and is still acting up as of today 13 months later. Truck is 100% factory.

24 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2018

I was driviing on the highway 65mph an the truck started the death wobble it was out of control. Things on the back seat landed on the floor due to the uncontrolable shaking of the truck. I had to slow down which I almost caused an accident. This is a scary an unsafe issue. . It has happened quite a bit an is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt or even die. Something has got to be done. Ford has got to recognize they have a big issue here an do something about it. I have to keep the speed down an even then its still an issue. I am scared to drive the truck its that bad in one instance I thought I was gonna die I couldnt get it to stop finally was able to get over to the breakdown lane an stop I was shaking an scared to death. I have not been to the dealership due to dueing my research an findin out it was the death wobble an there is no fix for it. Please there has got to be something you can do to help I would appreciate it. Thank-you.

25 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

At speeds of 55 to 60mph, mostly when hitting some kind of bump or dip in the road the truck steering wheel goes out of control shaking back and forth, along with the entire front of the truck. I have to slam on the brakes and it does not stop untill the truck is almost completely stopped. Is been in and out of automotive shops with the problem still remaining. When looking it up online (the world wide web) this is definitely a very common Ford issue and not just individual trucks. The shaking is so violent you can barely keep it in control and waiting for something to break. I can't believe this is not a safety recall issue.

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Death wobble, has been to dealer several times. Said it was the tires cupping less than 20,000 miles new tires did not help, they aligned it and said they rotated tires. Now it is back, 40,600 miles, just as bad a ever. They know the problem and refuse to repair as there is no safety recall. Guess it will take a few deaths to get some help or a high named political/sport/rich figure, for any help. Yes for us to spend $1500 bucks there may be some relief. Why should we need to pay for something they know how to repair. It is the same problem associated to the 1967/68 Ford bronco. We had one at the albertville dealer when as a young man almost lost my life driving it as I went across the median and 2 lanes of traffic when I worked there in service. Speed 45 to 70 mph on any road surface at any time it wants to act up, only way to stop is slow down several times till is stops hope it will not come back. This is verrrrry in-nerving when pulling our 2014 redwood 42' RV with a combined weight of 24,600 pounds. How many kids< children<adults can I kill should this cause the steering gear box to bust, as it did on the bronco??.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced the death wobble after driving over a bump in the road. The contact stated that the vehicle violently and uncontrollably shook after driving over the bump in the roadway and the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle once the vehicle had slowed down. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2016

Vehcile wobbles/vibrates "death wobble" at high speed or when hitting a bump on freeway, only way to stop the wobble is to reduce vehicle speed to under 30 mph, vehicle only has 35k miles, I have heard of many complaints about this issue occuring around 30k miles on Fords, Dodge (a class-action lawsuit was started in 2014) & Jeep (congress has already requested a recall). I am asking that this issue is looked into further before a serious injury. Thank you.

29 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2016

At any freeway speed if you hit a pot hole or a seam in the road on a turn, the truck will shake violently until you come to a stop. We have had Ford look at this a number of times with not success in getting a solution. The truck is not safe and it has happened to multiple drivers of this truck.

30 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

Truck goes into a death wobble when driving 60mph or faster. Usually happens when you go over a bridge, cattle guard or bump in the road. Cause the cehicle to shake uncontrollably and you have to come to almost a complete stop. I have had Ford work on it and nothing has cured the problem. This issue is going to cause serious accidents if not taken seriously.

31 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

When traveling usually at highway speeds and I come to a difference in surfaces a slight difference in the road say going over an overpass, the stearing wheel shakes violently. On you tube there are hundreds of videos about this problem. Its very dangerous, I left the dealership today and after spending $1,300 to repair the problem I can only assume that this will be a year or two fix as the same parts will fail again. Ford should solve this problem.

32 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2014

**2011 f350 sd 4x2. First noticed this phenomenon at 65mph on the thruway. When hitting certain rough road surface, or bumps, or concavities etc. , front wheels "hop" to one side, steering the vehicle into the shoulder, if "hopping" to the right, or into the left lane of traffic if bump causes a left side "hop". Can "hop" either way dependent upon which wheel strikes the rough surface. If both wheels strike the rough surface then it can go either way. This happens at lower speeds as well. Can hop 12" or more. I am frightened by this vehicle as I could easily strike a concrete barrier or concrete curb or a pedestrian or another vehicle. I have driven other manufacturers vehicles of similar gvwr, over the last 35 years, and this problem is particular to this make and model only. I compared with a 2015 Ford, same vehicle, and that does the same thing. Ford claims its normal. Ford claims it is normal until you "load it" to capacity, just over 2 tons. "once its loaded, you will be ok", says Ford. So their theory states its ok to be an unsafe vehicle while you're traveling to pick up your 4000lb load, then once you're loaded its ok. So if you have no load for 50% of the time then its ok to have a vehicle that is unsafe 1/2 the time you drive it! this is obviously an engineering problem and I doubt Ford will admit it, but it certainly is unsafe and somebody had better look into this before someone is killed. **incidentally, this is a 2011 that I bought brand new in 2014. It sat on the lot for 3 years. This has no bearing on the issue however since the 2015 displays the same tendencies.

33 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

2011 Ford F-350. Consumer writes in regards to severe steering wheel oscillation problems. The consumer stated he must bring the vehicle to a complete stop, to get the vehicle to stop shaking. It has happened several times. On two occasions, the shaking was bad the tread separated from the tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and nothing was done, except rotating the tires and checking the air pressure. In February 2014, the dealer replaced the steering damper. The problem went away for about five months. The dealer informed the consumer, the vehicle needs new tie rods, front drive link, a front track bar and an alignment.

34 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Was on freeway about 55 to 65 mph and all of a sudden the truck went into what I would call a death wobble where it seemed to be shaking the truck to death. Once I pulled to the side of the road and stopped and started out again it was fine. 2 days later it did it again only this time I was just getting onto the freeway on the on ramp. It did it again. Did not seem to hit any bump or pothole just started shaking. Had dealer check ity out the following week and they blamed it on the tires, and said it needed an alignment.

35 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2013

After hitting very small bumps in the road at 50mph, the left front wheel started shaking violently, making it difficult to control the vehicle. The only way to regain control was to slow to about 30mph, very dangerous on the interstate highway. This has happened several times since, always starting with small bumps in the road, left front wheel, causing the violent shaking. Vehicle control could only be regained by slowing to about 30mph.
