Bosch cp4 high pressure fuel pump failed in transit cost $10,713 to repair only 155k miles on new engine. Diesel fuel spilled from engine on highway, lucky no fire. Ford no help.
Death whoble.
Component; fuel filter component available; yes safety; fuel leak on engine ( fire risk ) reproduced; no inspected; no warnings; smell of fuel/fuel on ground and water.
Truck died and never started again. Metal shavings from fuel pump.
Cp4 high pressure fuel pump catastrophic failure. My fuel pump grenades and I lost all power on a busy road. I was able to use momentum after the loss of power to safely exit the roadway. I had no warning lamps prior to failure my vehicle will not start now and is currently at a shop being investigated.
I was 300 miles from home for work for a week. On day 1, while driving on a residential street, I suddenly got a message on the dash that stated "stop safely now". Seconds later, as I was pulling over by the curb, the truck shut itself down and would not start back up. I had to rent a vehicle (being away from home). On day 3, I tried again and it started. I drove it a block away to the place I was staying. Entering the parking lot, I got the message and it shut down again just as fast. At this point I had to arrange transport of my truck back home. $650 and 3 days later, I finally got it home. Started it, ran for a few minutes parked so tried to drive it. Made it about 1000 feet when it shut down again and left me stranded on the highway. Each time it shut itself down, I had to wait a minimum of 1 hour before it would restart. After researching, it seems that my egt13 sensor has gone bad and has to be replaced. Had it shut down while I was on the interstate, the results of this could have been a whole lot worse than the expense of a rental and transport. My research brought to light that this seems to be an ongoing problem with Fords that needs to be addressed and.
I have a 2012 Ford f350 crew cab 6. 7. Miles 72160. 6, eng hrs 3877 and eng hrs idel 1700. Which is very low for the egr to go bad and notice there are thousands of Ford owners are having the same problem. Which many are bypassing this system. I think its about time someone looks in to this problem with Ford manufacture. This way Ford owners do not do bypassing the emission systems. I wondered why hwy patrol was pulling over diesel trucks. Looked on line and found out for inspecting them to see if any bypass emission was done on that truck (California). Egr (emission) is just a major headache and this needs to investigated.
Def system/engine cleaning issue. Message continuously shows on dash "drive to clean engine" regardless of driving highway speeds for 30+ min at a time.
My truck has 32,000 miles on it. 6. 7 diesel. Upon starting the truck ( stationary in my driveway ) #3 fuel injector popped out of the engine, causing a misfire and spraying diesel fuel all over the engine. It was found that the #3 injector hold down clamp had broken caused by a crack in it. . Ford is well aware of this defect. . This could have resulted in a fire and possible loss of life if it had happened on the highway. Ford agreed to replace half of the defective injector clamps. (4) this leaves the other 4 prone to fail at any time. I was charged $897. 67. For the" half repair". Ford should be forced to recall these vehicles as it is a well known failure and documented on numerous internet websites. There is a TSB from Ford to their dealers on it. It also filled the crankcase with diesel fuel which did not do it any good. This truck has only 32 k miles and has been meticulously maintained since new. The Ford dealer repair order states:"found vehicle leaking fuel. Found injectors # 1 & # 3 blew out breaking hold down clamps. Also found other clamps cracked and return line broke as well and leaking fuel. Ordered parts on back order paco # 5934349 contact Ford case # cas-15233762-q2p6to. Ford agreed to assist $ 1500. . Ford should pay for the whole repair because it is a defective part that caused this dangerous failure and they are aware of it. Please force them to initiate a recall on these defective fuel injector clamps on their 6. 7 diesel engines before there is a catastrophic failure resulting in vehicle fires. The engine will most likely shut down if the vehicle is driven with the injector out of the engine. If someone was towing a trailer this could be life threatening. Luckily mine failed in the driveway with the engine at idle. .
Summary: we purchased a brand new 60000 dollar truck in 2012 or 2013 and was assured by the dealer that it had a warranty to cover any issues until either 100,000 miles or 5-6 years, whichever came first. After 4 years of ownership and around 67,000 miles, the truck started experiencing problems with a high idle and then abruptly shutting off. When taken to the dealer, they couldn't replicate the issues during a brief evaluation. However, a week later, while on the way to the bank, to get cash out for are stay at the hospital to give birth to are 6th child the truck shut off and wouldn't start again. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty high-pressure fuel pump due to water in the fuel and tried to charge the author $15,000 for repairs. The author questioned why the diesel fuel water separator and the second fuel filter system on the truck didn't catch the issue earlier and criticized the dealer for their negligence in ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
When she purchase the vehicle Dec 2016 it had the check in light on with the figure of a engine on , its being reading turbo ndercharge boost error code p0299 cocequence reduce power, several links on the manifold and I can smell the fumes inside the cabin while driving the strong fuel from the diesel.
