Turn Signal problems of the 2012 Ford F-350

Two problems related to turn signal have been reported for the 2012 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2017

Rear brake lights and turn signal failure. My rear brake lights and turn signals intermittently stop working with out notice. I have replaced the bulbs many times only to find out that they are not bad. They will stop working one side at a time and some times both stop working at the same time. This leaves you no indication that you have no brake lights or turn signals working. I have noticed that some times when I turn on my turn signals, one side will flash fast than the other, at about twice the rate as normal. I was in a left turn lane waiting to turn with turn signal on and started to smell electrical burning smell or electrical smoke. This is when I decided to look further into this matter. I have discovered other complaints with 2011 f350 having the same trouble and they have gotten a recall to replace the body control module so it doesn't short out and cause electrical fires. But my 2012 f350 there is no recall for the exact same symptoms. I have called the dealership many times to complain with no solution. My truck was build in 10/11 and only has 37000 miles. I have been having this issue for at least 7-8000 miles. I guess its going to take an accident or fire to get Ford to correct this defect.

2 Turn Signal problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

Recurring event: rear lights, turn signals and brake lights stop working. Some or all may fail at any given time. Does not seem to be associated with any weather related condition. Vehicle placed in two different dealership repair facilities with multiple 'fixes' being made. None of those repairs has worked as a permanent fix. The rear lights go out without notice on panel warning systems. Extremely hazardous at night, in unfavorable weather conditions, and with trailer tow. With no rear lights the truck cannot be seen by other approaching drivers and no indication of stopping or turning can be detected. Vehicle has been in dealer repair facilities eight times and the service people say they cannot determine what the problem is and one repair facility stated it is a problem they have seen on other same year model trucks. Ford has been contacted and the only 'help' offered is to continue to take truck to shop each time and let them 'reset' the system. Truck is too heavy for coverage under lemon law. This 'fix' is a temporary band-aid. It works for a limited amount of time then goes out without warning again. The lights can be checked for operation before driving, but once driving they go out without any warnings or notifications. Truck purchased new from dealer.
