Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-350. While driving 75-80 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to autonation Ford brooksville (7200 south broad street, brooksville, FL 34601, (866) 483-4606), nick nicholas Ford inc (2901 FL-44, inverness, FL 34453,(352) 726-1231), and crystal Ford (2440 NW, us-19, crystal river, FL 34428, (352) 795-7371); however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 24710433w3g5b1. The contact was referred to a local dealer. The failure mileage was 96,000.
While driving at 55mph, received a "low fuel pressure" warning. Seconds later, a fire broke out in the engine compartment which could not be controlled. Result was a total loss of the truck and the fifth wheel trailer that was being towed. A fuel filter had been changed two weeks prior to the fire and suspicion is that the fuel line was not properly reattached. The origin of the fire was in the area of the upper fuel filter which helps confirm this suspicion. Proper removal and reinstallation of the fuel lines in this vehicle are key safety items. Ford should reconsider the method by which fuel filters are changed in order to eliminate the need to remove and reinstall fuel lines.
