While driving at approximately 60 mph, the front end began to shake violently and the steering wheel was shaking upon driving over a few minor bumps in road. Death wobble! the know problem Ford has with their super duty truck but won't fix! I am a 56 year old woman and was driving on the expressway with my daughter when the death wobble happen. My steering wheels tarted shaking so hard I thought all 6 of my tires had blown. I had no control over my vehicle and than god there was no other car's near me. It is just getting worse now. I hit any little bumps on even the side road and the death wobble happens again. Called my Ford deal and they say no know fix for it. I can bring it in and they can try to replace the staring tracking bar. But don't know if that will fix it. Ford needs to be held responsible and pay for the fix! I am afraid to drive my own vehicle!.
(jl - no dealer or manuf info) the contact owns a 2016 Ford F-350. While traveling 55 mph, the steering wheel began to vibrate. Initially, the contact thought there was a flat tire. After pulling the vehicle over to the shoulder of the highway, the contact observed the vehicle and did not see a flat tire. The contact proceeded to drive on the interstate at 50 mph and the vibration recurred for 40 seconds. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure mileage was 27,000. Jl listed this as the place where the vehicle was purchased, but did not mention if the vehicle was taken here after the failure. I was driving down highway 101 and hit a bump going approximately 65 mph. There were 4 adult males in the truck. After I hit a bump in the road, my steering wheel started shaking "violently. " everyone in the truck was scared. I took my foot off the gas and started slowing down. When the truck got to about 35 mph, the violent shaking stopped. On my return back home on the same trip, again the same exact situation happened when I drove over a lane divider. My steering wheel is now out of alignment from when I bought the truck about 1 1/2 years ago. I took my truck to harper motors in eureka, CA (robert barrera service manager 707-443-7311) to be checked out on June 28, 2017. The r/o number was 785884/1. Their result was the following and documented "customer states around 60-65 mph slight right turn over lane dividers front end shook heavily has happened twice. Check and advise. Work performed by tom curtis. Test drove unit to trinidad and back unable to verify concern. Inspect front suspension all components look good. No concerns found made customer aware. " nothing was done to my truck to address this issue nor was my steering wheel placed back into alignment. I have done my research and know this is called the "death wobble. " it should be noted that less than 1 week prior to this happening, I took my truck into harper motors for a full inspection and oil change. At that time, my tire pressure was also checked.
