Electrical System problem #1

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while parked and turned off, he observed a loud explosion noise while he was inside his residence. The contact stated that he left his residence to investigate, and he observed the front of the vehicle and the cabin of the vehicle engulfed in flames. The fire department was called, and they extinguished the fire. Medical attention was not needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed, repaired, or moved. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Electrical System problem #2

Vehicle produced symptoms over time: loss of Ford pass connectivity, inconsistent turn signal function, occasional dashboard alarm for open driver door while driving, unwarranted security alarm triggers when still at home. Second to last incident was an unwarranted security alarm that triggered, and was unable to be stopped by use of the security controls (lock/unlock, alarm key button). Horn "wore out" as if fuse burned. Disconnected battery to stop. Two days later, after reconnecting the battery I drove the vehicle, horn was not functional, and I was unable to stop the engine. Once started, the vehicle did not turn off, even with key completely removed from ignition switch. This was repeatable, every ignition cycle, thereafter. I drove to the dealer, that morning. The dealer mechanic was required to shut off the engine. Dealer mechanic diagnosed failed battery junction box. After repair, mechanic diagnosed faulty body control module. Dealer mechanic also recommended replacement of full "main" wiring harness, interconnecting the two. The cause for all failures was corrosion and electrical shorts due to water ingress. I am aware Ford has issued numerous tsbs and recalls for faulty bcms, in the same age range as this vehicle. Also, tsbs for water intrusion into the bcm. The mechanic took photos of corrosion on both the bcm and main wiring harness. My prior vehicle was a 2011 Ford f-150, with the same 6. 2l engine. No such faults were experienced up to Nov. 2023 sale. Photos of the corrosion on main wiring harness and bcm attached. Dealer has possession of the vehicle. Repairs in progress. Ford has declined support for faulty components; recalls not associated with this vehicle. Estimated repairs to date on 6 year old vehicle on critical electronics in excess of $7,000.

Electrical System problem #3

The connectors (part #1 huzz-14s411-hb) and (part #2 huzz-14s411-fa) are located in on the frame of the truck where the back wheels throw water towards when driving on wet terrain. They tend to hold water which causes electrical damage. This is happening on multiple Ford trucks from 2020 - current models. This is causing tail light, ac, radio and other failures to occur.

Electrical System problem #4

Computer-dash info screens and drive modes. I am unable to change or check onboard dash info upon starting vehicle. Dash does not hold settings one day to the next. Unable to get into or change settings such as trailer settings-so can’t change braking effort-dangerous when hauling 20,000# trailer! cannot put truck in tow mode or any other mode-defaults to slippery road mode. Again dangerous. Says hill start assist, hill descent assist and pre-collision assist is unavailable . This is all very potentially dangerous especially when hauling! dealer cannot find problem. After truck is driven a while settings can be re-entered-truck has to be turned off first. Unable to load video of start up.

Electrical System problem #5

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that Ford pass failed to connect and communicate with the system. The telematics control unit (tcu) b157d 89 was inoperable. The information screen was blank. The contact stated that the failure was related to ssm 49292 and customer satisfaction program 24b47. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Electrical System problem #6

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v957000 (fuel system, diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently and required several attempts before the vehicle started. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle lost power and coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle was restarted after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced; however, the repair was not covered under the recall. The contact was unable to confirm what repair was completed. The failure recurred the following. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately 10 times. The vehicle had not been repaired. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Electrical System problem #7

While traveling vehicle in motion electric tailgate spontaneously released damaging the tailgate and tow vehicle on 8/8/2020, 8/20/2020 and 9/3/2020. Tailgate released on several occasions while towing on city streets and highway.

Electrical System problem #8

Nhtsa id number 10172952. This notification is not being applied to all Ford super duty trucks that have the ultimate trailer tow camera system w/pro trailer backup assist. When reviewing any recalls on my truck, this yaw system sensor required to make the pro trailer assist work that is essential for towing 5th wheel and gooseneck trailers was not included with the truck. Ford has not been supplying this item. The owners manual specifically requires this item for operation. I know this memo is out there but is not being applied to the proper vehicles. My dealer is working on this, but was only aware of the problem after the memo was found and I distributed it. The failure is, Ford needs to list this missing item under all vehicles that have this option. Ford does not have this item available and could not be found in their parts data base. Ford in essence created fraud by selling this option without parts required to make it work. I could not attache pictures, files are to large.
