1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

While flat towing my 2022 Ford f?350 behind a motorhome using Ford’s neutral tow mode procedure, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic transmission failure. The Ford dealer documented this clearly on the service invoice: “happened while the vehicle was flat towed. ” after the tow, the truck had severe slipping, delayed engagement, high rpm with no movement, and a wrench light. The dealer confirmed fault codes p0741, p1744, and p27b4. The dealer found catastrophic internal damage: “fluid is burnt with metal debris… filter is packed with metal debris… torque converter has came apart and filled transmission with metal debris… it is catastrophic failure. ” these components are available for inspection. The dealer also documented a low battery condition: “batteries. Low state of charge. ” Ford’s neutral tow mode relies on electronic control modules that require stable voltage, but Ford provides no warning that low voltage can cause the transfer case to exit neutral tow mode. This creates a safety risk because the transmission can be rotated internally without lubrication while being towed, which can lead to sudden drivetrain lockup or loss of control. The problem was confirmed by the Ford dealer, and the vehicle was fully inspected by them. The only warning symptom occurred after towing: wrench light, slipping, and no movement. There were no warnings during the tow itself. This failure mode is not disclosed by Ford and cannot be detected or prevented by the owner.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2025

The fan clutch assembly failed and as a result the drive mode would not change from tow/haul mode to any of the other 4 drive modes. Accelerations and decelerations were negatively affected as a result creating safety hazards when driving. The engine was always responding as if a trailer were attached and subsequently accelerations were difficult and decelerations consistently utilized the trailer engine braking system, similar to semi-trucks utilizing the jake-braking systems, this is a significant safety issue and needs to have a recall issued for the replacement of these fan clutch assemblies.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2025

Driverside rear axle snapped. There is a recall right now for the 2023 with similar issue. The truck is sitting at murray Ford in kingsland,GA waiting parts to completely replace a new axle. It does go into park or anything.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-350 sd. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle was shuddering abnormally while shifting from second through fourth gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 100,100.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2025

1. Spark plug wire failures: oincident 1: on December 15, 2024, a spark plug wire failure on cylinder #1 caused a misfire and check engine light (code p0301), reducing engine power while towing a 10,000-pound trailer on I-90. Wendle Ford spokane repaired it under warranty. Oincident 2: on April 10, 2025, another failure on a different cylinder triggered a misfire and check engine light, requiring a $766 repair (invoice attached). These failures are a known defect in 2020–2022 super duty trucks, per owner forums and a 7. 3l motorhome technical service bulletin. Osafety risk: misfires reduce power and control, endangering occupants and other drivers, especially during heavy towing in winter conditions. 2. Front differential failure: oon April 5, 2025, the front differential failed, disabling 4x4 throughout the 2024–2025 winter. Discovered during a snowstorm on a rural job site, the loss of 4x4 compromised traction and stability, requiring a one-week repair. Osafety risk: loss of 4x4 in adverse conditions increases the risk of skidding or stranding, particularly for a heavy-duty truck used in construction.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission before the vehicle jerked while shifting from park(p) to drive(d). No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the transmission hesitated to shift briefly before accelerating and then functioned normally. The failure became regular. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 3 times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2022

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? transfer case shift motor failure, transmission slipping in 3,2,1 gear and when accelerating from 7-8 gear. Electronics on dash have gone out while driving multiple times. Tailgate opened up while driving multiple times. Trailer brake. Drivers side faulty window (glass) fracture across entire window when not moving. Yes, all can be inspected or paper work reviewed for repairs complete. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? could not use 4 wheel drive in icy/snowy conditions to get to destination. Transmission slipping caused my foot to come off brake pedal and immediately had to reengage brake pedal due to the force of the transmission slipping (like the transmission was falling out from under the truck), nearly hitting the car in front of me on both occasions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. All issues have been confirmed by local Ford dealer and fixed by certified Ford mechanic, but once issue is repaired, the electronics issues and transmission issue continue to arise (exact same issues). Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, by the dealership (Ford representatives). Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, no warning signs for any of the defects other than a letter for the tailgate recall, brake recall and wiper recall.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2022

Today I was getting ready to blow some snow out of my driveway and had to move my truck. It's normally parked at a slight incline where putting it in park is usually sufficient and have never needed to use a parking brake. When I re-parked the truck, I had to put it in 4wd to get up in the driveway because we had a lot of wet slushy snow. So after I get it parked, I put it back in 2wd, put it in park, and turn off the ignition. I then got out of the truck and started over to the snow blower to get back to work. I suddenly started seeing the truck rolling backwards as if it was in neutral (which is was not). I was running towards the truck to try and jump in and stop it, and then it suddenly stopped on it's own. But I bet it rolled back a good 3 or 4 feet before it finally stopped. It actually set off the alarm system in the truck, which was no surprise rolling that far. I feel this is definitely a safety issue because if a small child was behind the truck, or even myself, it could have been disastrous.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2022

Multiple fail alerts for the transmission and engine. The transmission was not shifting gears, very loud noise inside cab and vehicle would barley move at times. Initially, dealer said nothing wrong and cleared the dash alert. Issue returned the next time it was driven. Multiple alerts stated the transmission torque converter clutch was not operating/failed, along with a four-wheel drive fault.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2022

Unknown what the cause is. Put the vehicle in drive and once began moving forward, the transmission tool light came on, then shortly after the engine light appeared. Inside the cab got loud and the truck barely moved. Have called all local dealers. The dealer purchased the truck from 3mo ago has no one available to service. Will not diagnose, because the tool light is on. Next nearest said they are not providing appts, because they are several weeks out. Stated to drop off the vehicle, but unknown when they can get to it. A third can only diagnose a few weeks from now. As soon as I said the transmission was having trouble, the service tech immediately asked if it was a F-350 diesel. This has to be a recurring problem, for a specific question like that to be asked. Unable to get a diagnostic, as no dealer currently available.

11 Power Train problem
