2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2003 Ford F-450

Failure Date: 06/15/2005

Contact states while applying the brakes it is difficult to turn the wheel left or right. The harder the brake is pressed the harder it is to turn the wheel until the steering is locked up. Eventually the steering gear started leaking, leading to replacement of the steering gear. This did not repair the problem.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2002 Ford F-450

Failure Date: 06/17/2004

When depressing the brakes pedal went all the way to the floor before stopping. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The booster was replaced, but nothing changed. The consumer tried other vehicles at two different dealers and the vehicle displayed the same problem. As soon as one applied the brakes, they would lock up and there would be no friction to turn the wheels on and the computer would think that the vehicle was stopped.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2001 Ford F-450

Failure Date: 11/15/2001

While driving 35 mph, pressure was applied to brake pedal to stop vehicle and the brake pedal fell to the floorboard unexpectedly. Driver was unable to bring vehicle to a stop before truck traveled approximately 75 yards and rear-ended a stopped car. Dealership has examined vehicle and could not determine cause of the problem. Please provide any additional / information / documentation.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2000 Ford F-450

Failure Date: 06/04/2001

While traveling at approximately 45 mph steering became very loose and difficult to control while brakes suddenly became mushy and increased stopping distance. Dealership examined vehicle and determined that a clamp that holds hydraulic fluid hose to frame was missing, which allowed the hose to move under hood, causing hose to rupture. Also, a stabilizer bar was not put in this vehicle to assist with steering control. Please provide any additional information/attachments. *note: the dealership mentioned to consumer that this problem occurred in one other vehicle.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1999 Ford F-450

Failure Date: 02/16/1999

Other failures 4-24 at 55mph stopped with only trailer brakes: 4-29 at 40mph able to slow with gears.
