The contact turned off and restart the vehicle; however, the power steering and the abnormal engine sound remained present. The contact was able to drive a several yards before the vehicle stalled. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The dealer had already replaced the engine assembly one time and they indicated that the part needed to be replaced a second time. The dealer and an independent mechanic indicated that the engine assembly would need to be replaced. The manufacturer provided no assistance other than the dealer repairing the vehicle.
