Diesel Fuel System Tank Assembly Problems of Ford F-550

2006 Ford f550. Consumer states problem with turbo chargers and fuel tank liners the consumer stated the turbo was replaced twice and the fuel tank was replaced once. The fuel tank lining broke down and clogged the fuel filters as well as the fuel injectors. Ford informed the consumer, the problem with the fuel tank was due to the additives in the northeast diesel fuel.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-550 superduty. While driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle stalled. It was towed to another location where the driver was able to get it restarted. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the driver was informed the fuel tank was DE-laminating due to rust and corrosion. It was not repaired. We have a Ford 2004 f550 dump of which the fuel tank is flaking and clogging up the filters and stalling the truck or not even starting. Ford does not want any responsibility for this repair. I know we are not the only ones out there with this problem only want to know how long Ford gets away with this before someone steps up and does something . This repair runs anywhere from 1,800. 00 to 2,000. 00 dollars ,I guess this is just another win for the big guys and screwing for us.

We have 4 f550 buses that have had the gas tank replaced twice on each bus do what we believe is coating failure. We now have an f450 that is experiencing the same conditions, we are forced to replace the gas tank on this vehicle as well. We take our vehicles to Ford miramar truck center, and have had a Ford factor representative look into the problem only to tell us its not a tank failure issue. After what will now be 9 replaced gas tanks, I truly believe there is an issue here that must be seriously looked into. On a side note, after the second tank failure we changed gas stations thinking the problem was bad fuel-not the problem.

Internal coating failure on fuel tanks on f550 super duty Ford trucks. The fuel system becomes clogged with rust and the tank must be cleaned or replaced. We have four vehicles and have incurred 8 to 10 failures in past three years. We are unable to get Ford to address the problem which I think is improper application of the coating material.

Fuel tank on 2002 f series Ford dump trucks are coated with a substance that breaks down and causes blockage of fuel lines; original tank replaced August 2005 same problem with replacement tank, 6/coating breaking down; causing engine to shut off; extremely dangerous and offers no warning. 2003 f550 4x4 60,000 miles, fuel tank has 4 stress cracks, leaks over 2 gallons diesel fuel daily. Fault caused by manufacturing defect, Ford states no recall. Tank was soldered, would not hold, replaced with new tank. Defective tank available.
