I have more files and receipts vehicle information: •make: Ford •model: F-550 super duty •year: 2020 issue summary: after a recall service (22e04) for powertrain and transmission software updates, the vehicle experienced a complete power failure within 40 miles, leading to a stall and loss of control, resulting in the vehicle veering into a ditch. Incident details: •recall service date: ] •mileage at service: 63,993 •incident mileage: ~64,030 miles •description: post-recall, multiple warning lights activated, including powertrain malfunction and traction control off. The vehicle stalled, became unresponsive, and veered off the road. After multiple attempts coming after multiple attempts to call the dealership and corporate with no answer, forced to leave a bad survey and then someone contacted follow-up actions: the dealership attributed the issue to a missing 10-amp fuse. However, prior warnings from the Fordpass app indicated powertrain malfunctions since October 2024. A subsequent recall notice (24s78/24v957) in January 2025 highlighted potential high-pressure fuel pump issues leading to power loss. After multiple attempts coming after multiple attempts to call the dealership and corporate with no answer was forced to leave a bad survey and then someone they’ve let me leave the dealership twice now saying that there was nothing wrong with my truck and then to find out that there’s a recall a couple weeks later safety concerns: the unexpected power loss and control failure pose significant safety risks. The recurrence of issues post-recall raises concerns about the effectiveness of the initial repair and overall vehicle safety. Requested action: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to ensure driver safety and hold the manufacturer accountable for providing a reliable remedy.

Ford motor company has had a known issue with the truck frames cracking on the F-550 chassis. They acknowledged it by doing a recall, which either replaced or repaired the chassis frame or installed reinforcement braces if no cracks were visible. The recall expired in September of 2023. In October 2023 we noticed a crack on the frame just outside the recall reinforcement brace that Ford-certified technicians installed. We found another in November (reinforcement brace installed) and another in January (with Ford's new and improved frame produced due to a recall issue). Ford has denied making the repairs since the original warranty expired, even though this was the same related issue. We have been dealing with Ford motor company since October in hopes of resolving the issue but they continue to give us any resolution. The problem has not only caused a burden on our workforce but also caused great safety concerns. With Ford avoiding responsibility, they are allowing trucks to operate daily on our highway system, which becomes a safety concern for not only the driver but for many other motorists. The problem existed, but the issue was not resolved, all we are asking is that they take responsibility for making the repairs and permanently resolving the issue for the safety of all motorists.

I have only used the truck for five months and have had several business interruptions and issues with the truck from the gas tank leaking, problems with the brakes and the box hoist that would not raise. I have had the box hoist fixed multiple times but the weld keeps breaking. I am sure Ford knows about the hoist problem but they have not issued any recalls for it. As a consumer I feel cheated. My recent problem is the engine, it had stalled unexpectedly and shut down completely for no reason at all and without warning while my son was driving on the highway. It was a safety issue and put my son's life at risk. I looked up the above VIN number on the internet but could not find direct recalls relating to it. Ford has put out recalls on some of the engines for Ford f550s yr 2012 but only for ambulance type trucks not dump trucks. I am complaining because my dump truck has the same engine stalling problem as on the ambulance type f550s from year 2012, when it unexpectedly shuts down completely and without warning.

Vehicles pto pressure witch is leaking onto exhaust and per jerr-dan who has a recall for the same complaint on the same vehicle range and application (ref num. 14v-507) this vehicle is not covered? vehicle is a 2012 f550 with a muncie power take of unit with a pressure switch mounted next to exhaust.
At forty five mile an hour the transmission literally fell apart internally. My F-550 has only pulled a trailer five times and it has a complete tow package. I was not towing anything nor did I have any other weight on the truck when the transmission made a low clunk and stopped functioning. The F-550 has less than 75000 miles on the odometer, and has been used very seldom to haul anything. I have spoken to several dealerships concerning this issue and find that many of these same transmissions have likewise failed.

This complaint is a follow-up to your ref# 521328. It concerns an un-delivered emergency vehicle that plastiscol composites, that is being paid with fema funds under a federal grant and is trying to force a vibrating drive line problem vehicle to other companies without telling them. The vehicle is now over 930 days late, due to poorly engineering the drive line after installing a pto in the drive line to power the rear mounted pump. On numerous occasion, plastisol workers brought the vehicle to the repair shop to be inspected for acceptance, but on each occasion, numerous defects were noted including cold welds, loose parts poor assembly. And the most serious, was the drive line vibration that began at 40 mph and became worse. Plastisol workers admitted that they have no engineer assisting them to resolved the problem and don't know what to do. The is equivalent to NHTSA recall campaign # 10v092000. I would like you to investigate this vehicle and determine if the drive line vibration is safe and the vehicle is road worthy and won't cause the failure of the universal joints and a crash , which could jeopardize the lives of the firemen or the general public. I would like you to inspect all welds of the fabricated cross member . The pto is attached to and determine if they are within industry standards or poorly welded and unsafe. I would like you to investigate all trucks produced by plastisol. . . Updated 12/17/13.
