Frame crack right behind cab. Have two trucks with the same issue second VIN ends in [xxx]. Ford had a safety program 21b04 that expired which means they are aware of this issue and should issue a recall for it. Ford has repeatedly refused to help with this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Ford motor company has had a known issue with the truck frames cracking on the F-550 chassis. They acknowledged it by doing a recall, which either replaced or repaired the chassis frame or installed reinforcement braces if no cracks were visible. The recall expired in September of 2023. In October 2023 we noticed a crack on the frame just outside the recall reinforcement brace that Ford-certified technicians installed. We found another in November (reinforcement brace installed) and another in January (with Ford's new and improved frame produced due to a recall issue). Ford has denied making the repairs since the original warranty expired, even though this was the same related issue. We have been dealing with Ford motor company since October in hopes of resolving the issue but they continue to give us any resolution. The problem has not only caused a burden on our workforce but also caused great safety concerns. With Ford avoiding responsibility, they are allowing trucks to operate daily on our highway system, which becomes a safety concern for not only the driver but for many other motorists. The problem existed, but the issue was not resolved, all we are asking is that they take responsibility for making the repairs and permanently resolving the issue for the safety of all motorists.

I was driving about 57 mph headed NW on i270 in the north denver metro area. I went over a bridge abutment and the vehicle started shaking violently in the front end. I let off the gas but the extreme vibration/shaking continued until I slowed down to around 20 mph. I thought I had lost something in the front end. Then it happened again when I was driving between i70 and us 50 in western colorado. I was only going 30 miles an hour and hit a rotomilled section of asphalt(a perfect edge drop to the rotomilled pavement) and the violent shaking started but ended much quicker as I slowed down to about 10 mph. First incident was 8/12/23 and second incident was 8/21/23.
At speeds starting 40 mph the Ford 550 tends to sway and require steering changes. This is a fire truck chassie and when weighed on certified scales it is in the required specification range. The Ford dealer says not their problem. The builder of the fire body keeps asking for more information on tires and weighing the truck.
The contact owns a 2021 forest river georgetown attached to a 2020 Ford motorhome chassis. The contact stated that the weight of the motorhome was falsely advertised and that the motorhome was over the weight limit for the chassis attached to it. The contact stated that motorhome occc(occupant carrying capacity certificate) advertised for the motorhome was19,208; however, the contact weighed the motorhome on his own with the motorhome completely empty and the certified weight was 21,080. The contact stated that while driving the motorhome, an abnormal clanking and popping noise would emit from the vehicle while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle would push its way through corners and turns due to the weight of the motorhome. The dealer was notified of the failure and stated that they can not perform that level of repair. Both the motorhome and chassis manufacturer have notified of the failure, Ford(chassis) claimed that the motorhome was overweight and the cause of the failure and forest river(motorhome) claimed that the weight was correct and that there was no failure with the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,200.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-550. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle failed to drive in a straight line. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer freeway Ford truck sales (8445 45th st, lyons, IL 60534, (708) 442-9000) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Ford F-550 sd. While driving 65 mph, the rear passenger side of the vehicle began to shake, fishtail, and an echoing noise was heard from the rear end. The vehicle was taken to paso robles Ford (2401 oakwood st, paso robles, CA 93446), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer (mullahey Ford, 330 traffic way, arroyo grande, CA 93420) where it was diagnosed that the bearings failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and could not provide a solution. The failure mileage was 400.
The vehicle is a motor home manufactured by thor motor coach that they added to a modified 2015 Ford f550 chassis. Although thor modified the chassis, replaced the front bumper and quarter panels and added the coach body to the frame, they failed to do any alignment process to make sure that the body and the front wheels were properly aligned. This failure has led to severe wear to the front right tire creating a major safety hazard. On page 121 of the owner's manual it states that the front suspension and steering system was factory aligned prior to delivery to the dealership. However, the have failed to supply any documentation regarding this and the antidotal information from Ford and others is that thor does not do the needed alignment after such a severe modification. While they try to pass this off to the consumer, there is only one sentence regarding this in a 151 page manual. Although I have owned other motor homes previously the process of learning everything about a new motor home is quite overwhelming. Secondly I am not aware that vehicle manufacture passes this safety concern on a new vehicle to the consumer. Lastly motor homes are the largest, heavy vehicles with challenging handling characteristics driven by non-professional drivers, many of whom are seniors. The manufactures should be held responsible for making sure that the vehicles are properly aligned for safe operation and tire wear. The failure to properly align the vehicle as a final manufacturing process has lead to severe tire wear causing a major safety issue and significant expense for the owner to replace the front tires and have the proper alignment done in order to make for safe operation. Although the vehicle was new when purchased it had 2,598 miles on it. The damaged tire was noted after a cross country trip of nearly 10,000 miles.

The truck has a vibration, that is worse with the trailer attached, it is causing the steering to be loose, and it is hard to keep in your lane. The dealer can not seem to find the problem. I am afraid this will eventually cause an accident.
