I've only owned my Fiesta for 2 years and now my car won't move when I am in drive or reverse as I step on the gas peddle to accelerate. Before this, my car would jerk forward when I would go to accelerate and act as if it was going to stall out in the middle of traffic. I've taken it to Ford before to get the recalls fixed because my passenger door swung open while I was driving and they fixed the transmission and clutch recall but now I'm having problems again.
While stopped (at a red light, stop lights, etc. ), when the accelerator is pressed, the car will stall and not move. The vehicle acts as if it is off. I had to double check to make sure that it did not stall (which it does frequently). Once I pressed the brake and waited a few seconds, the car finally moved again. This is scary because it often occurs in traffic. Also, when backing up, the car will shudder while in reverse and act as if it wants to stall out. There will be times when it actually does stall and completely shuts down. I will have to turn off the ignition and restart the car before I can move it any further.
I purchased my 2011 Ford Fiesta in August 2014 with 45,000 miles on it. Car ran fine for a week then I noticed when the ac is on the car jerks when I accelerate. It also does it daily when I drive speeds under 30 mph. The car stalled out as I pulled out leaving wal-mart and thank god it was during the day when everyone is at work and that there was not a lot of traffic!! this car makes me nervous driving it a distance longer than 30 minutes and no car should feel that unsafe. I took it to the Ford dealer this morning reporting of constant jerking and hesitation while I am driving and feeling the gears grinding when I brake. I was told I needed a new clutch and that it is a common problem with these cars and that since the part is on back order it would take minimum 2 weeks to get in!. How there is not a recall on this I do not understand. I have read complaint after complaint about the same problems.
The car slips gears which makes it dangerous to drive up any sort of hill. My car has stalled out going up hills and made it dangerous not only for me, but those around me. The car also has an incredible jerky motion when driving that can cause the car to suddenly jerk forward. Sometimes when I put my car into drive or reverse the car won't even move. Very very dangerous car! Ford issued a recall on parts of the transmission about 4 years ago, but this did not fix the problem. I am afraid to drive the car long distances or around town where there are hills. This has been an issue ever since I brought the car.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The engine warning light illuminated and service engine, transmission soon was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 6,000.
2011 Ford Fiesta ses, manual transmission: car started stalling about 3 or 4 mos ago when I would come to a stop. Yesterday, it stalled as I was driving!!! now I don't dare get behind the wheel! I bought this car in '11 brand new and have had no problems with it until now. And now all I want to do is dump it!.
Car was stalling out / dying repeatedly in heavy stop and go traffic. The car would lurch forward when I pushed the gas from a dead stop and then would stall out completely. I would have to put the car in park, turn the key to start the car, and then put it in gear to get the car to drive again. If I were in traffic, and then decided to turn left to cross over the other side of the street, my car could have stalled and I could have been hit by oncoming traffic. Very scary to drive a car with this defect. I took it in to get repaired and was told that it was the throttle body. It's not covered under the warranty and right now there is no recall on the vehicle for this part.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled when the gear was placed into neutral. The check engine indicator illuminated prior to the failure. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,100.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body failed and would need to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
I purchased my 2011 Ford Fiesta basically when it first came out, brand new. But, just prior to the 10,000 mile mark I started experiencing severe transmission problems, shuddering, stalling out, and eventually overall failure. All of these failing happened either upon taking off or during transit. I've had the car lurch and almost hit another car in traffic as well as fail while driving during rush our traffic; predominantly on city streets but also occasionally on the highway at lower shifts. The issue has been "fixed" and "assessed" more times than I believe and car problem should be without being resolved. Every time I would discuss why it continues the customer service representative would always say "that's just how they work" or some other nonchalant verbage to shrug off the persisting problem that I'm paying for. This continued trouble leaves me with almost no trust in my vehicle and has cost me more money than I would care to admit to. I believe Ford owes me either a lifetime warranty on my faulty vehicle or a brand new replacement for the time and financial damages I have incurred due to their thoughtless/ careless practices as well as the destruction of my peace of mind. Attached is a pdf of my full vehicle service history through cavalier Ford from 2011-2019 as well as pep boys which also includes evidence of attempted fraud in relation to the state of my rear breaks and shocks in the last year.
This was the certified letter I sent to Ford: on June 12, 2012, I purchased/financed a new 2011 Ford Fiesta at andy shaw Ford in sylva, nc. Unfortunately, the Fiesta has not performed with reliability or safety due to chronic transmission issues and has caused ample inconveniences as well as safety concerns for myself and my daughter when I am operating the vehicle. I am very disappointed because I have had the car serviced several times for the same symptoms and transmission issues. Enclosed are copies of the vehicle's service records. Each time, the service department has claimed to have fixed the problem. However, after a few months, I begin experiencing the same symptoms. On numerous occasions, I have experienced life threatening situations on the road while operating the vehicle (almost being rear-ended, getting stuck and almost being hit while trying to pull out of a parking lot or trying to make a turn across an intersection) due to the transmission malfunctioning/stalling/lurching forward and end up back in the dealership service department, yet again. I have also been in contact with a customer service manager regarding these issues, michelle (at 1-866-631-3788, ext. 77796), who has yet to offer any real, valid assistance. To resolve the problem, I would appreciate your replacing the vehicle with one that provides safety and reliability, at no cost to me. I believe I am entitled to this according to georgia lemon law. I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem no later than November 21st, 2016. Waiting any longer will put my and my daughter's safety and life at further risk. ***Ford wrote back and denied my request for a safe, reliable vehicle replacement. They are ignoring the severity of the safety issue and simply told me to keep working with the service department.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving approximately 70 mph, a warning chime sounded, the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated the wrench and oil light illuminated simultaneously. According to the owner's manual, that indicated that the engine oil had expired. Upon driving to the dealership, the transmission failed to shift over and the vehicle stalled. There was gas in the vehicle. The dealer reset the light. However, the engine light continued to illuminate. Updated 02/01/lj updated 02/08/12.
After having no problems with this car for the first 16000 miles it now jerks and the trans feels as if your driving over rumble strips when accelerating from a stop; bumping and jerking. Seems like it cant shift gears and has no acceleration. The car performs worse the hotter the engine gets. This car rides anything but smooth. Always feels like its going to stall.
