Failure Date: 07/18/2016

I received a letter about a recall on Ford Fiesta door latches in June 2015, stating that more information would be send when sufficient parts for replacement were sent to all Ford dealerships and that if I experienced a problem that I should report to a dealership immediately. Soon after receiving that letter my back passenger door would not close. I went to capital Ford in raleigh nc to have the latch repaired. I was told that because the recall was not "official" and the dealership had not received a shipment of replacement door latched from Ford that only the broken door latch would be replaced at no charge, but that when the parts were sent and the recall was "official" that the remaining door latches would be replaced at no charge to me. Just this week, my front passenger door now will not close. I called capital Ford again and they are telling me that I am no longer eligible under that recall because the repair has been made already. They sent me an invoice for my repair which clearly indicates that only one door was replaced. My letter from Ford motor company clearly states that all four door latches would be replaced when the parts were made available to the dealerships and that existing problems would be repaired. I explain to capital Ford that I should still be eligible because only one latch was replaced, but no one will return my calls. Ford motor company keeps referring me back to the dealership to determine why all four latches were not repaired and if I am eligible for the other three latches to be repaired (one of which is currently not functioning) and I finally decided to pay for the damaged latch to be repaired elsewhere. Still no update from capital Ford and no help from Ford motor company. I am driving a vehicle that is a hazard and either of the two unrepaired doors could fly open at any time and yet no one is concerned about this error.

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

Over the past several months, maybe a year, I have received several notices to contact my dealer about a safety recall of the pawl spring tab inside one or more of the side door latches. I have duly contacted the dealer, and in every case was told they would call me. I believe they have no intention of honoring the recall.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2016

Trouble with transmission making the car shake, jerk buck and difficult to stop. Taken to Ford three times this year and twice in the past two weeks and the same transmission light keeps coming on which disables the entire vehicle.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

While driving the 2012 Ford Fiesta it is difficult to shift, has a shuddering, jerking motion, rattling sound, car jerks during shifting enough to throw you forward at times. This happens when car is in motion shifting in all gears mostly 3rd to 4th gear and when you stop. Unsafe to drive when car is shifting into gear. In previous repairs has gone backwards when at a stop. Ford is aware of the issue with the car and is now replacing clutch for the 5th time. This is the 3rd version of the clutch unable to fix and unsafe and can cause an accident. Several times have received rental car from Ford service in acton MA told unsafe to drive. Now going in for 5th clutch told safe to drive when it is not. Will not replace car only clutch due to lemon laws in MA. Has has been in shop for same issue approximately 100 days total since owed the car. Car should be recalled and replaced.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

Car jerks and shudders uncontrollably. Lurches into intersections after coming to a stop when clutch fails to disengage. Unpredictable speed. Does not accelerate onto freeway. Jerks violently when taking foot on or off gas pedal. Dangerous and terrifying. Replacement clutch has been ordered by dealership and is backordered 3 months. They must be recalled before someone dies.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

Right side rear door will not shut. Does not latch. Car was parked and locked and when opened for a passenger to enter the door would not close.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

I purchased a 2012 Ford Fiesta last weekend and noticed the day after that as I drove, the front of the car would rattle. Then I noticed when I would stop and go the car would take awhile to accelerate. I registered the car on sync (associated by Ford) and it indicated 2 items were faulty. Made an apt with Ford who was aware of the issue. On the way to drop off the car after I made a stop, I accelerated it went but then suddenly came to an almost complete stop on its own luckily then caught and accelerated, if someone had been behind me I would have been hit. Ford charged me $105 to run diagnostics then said that it had to hit 250 with the shuddering and my car was only at 180, after pushing the service guy we got him to admit he knew it had a problem but they couldn't do anything about it. This got my attention and went online and found out many people have the same issue and some have been in accidents or near accidents. Do people need to die for Ford to take action, would their ceo give this car to his children or grandchildren. I just paid all the money I had for this car I don't have money to fix it which could save my life or the life of others. This is a danger on the road. Please help! I have some docs here that can help my faulty transmission error that proves that Ford knows about it.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2016

Transmission/clutch has major design flaws. We have had to have this reprgrammed twice and the clutch has been replaced twice as well. Is going back in to the dealership for the same issue, for what will now be the 4th time, to potentially have another clutch replaced. The vechicle "sputters" and jerks. This is a known issue with the transmission. This has been ongoing since purchase of the car, but most recently 4/21/2016.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

I purchased a 2012 Ford Fiesta automatic literally 3 days ago. After only 3 short days of driving it, it says "transmission service now", and also has shuttering in acceleration and delay in acceleration. It frightens me often when I am pulling out, turning or at a stop and go. When trying to accelerate it will shutter then receive a huge burst of speed. Which will then cause me to swerve almost losing control or will cause me to almost rear end the vehicle ahead of me.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v246000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

Recall--it may be possible for the pawl spring tab inside one or more of the side door latches to break. This condition will typically prevent the door from latching. In certain situations, where the door is able to be closed, the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. We had the recall repairs done our vehicle and was charged $22 toward the rental of car because repairs could not be done in half a day. The recall repairs were to be done with no charge to us but because the dealership (dick smith Ford, raytown, mo) did not cover all rental charges we had to pay $22 because they couldn't get repairs done within one day.

I was driving my 2012 Ford Fiesta on Sunday, November 1st, 2015 when the rear passenger door flew open!!!! I fear for my safety in this vehicle!!!! this is yet another manufacture's defect on this dangerous car!!!! what if I had my pet in the car??? or a child??? I can not believe you have not made Ford recall this car!!! in addition to my latest episode I have also had my transmission's computer tmc updated 3 times and the entire transmission replaced!!! and my car drives worse. It jerks, almost dies at take off, sputters and hesitates and then suddenly jolts forward!! it is only a matter of time before someone is killed in this car! how can you continue to allow Ford corporation to abuse it's consumers in this manner! I thought this agency was the governing agent over these types of issues! I will be sure to document all of my problems with this car in the event that something horrible should happen to me while driving this car! we as american consumers need your help! I called Ford headquarters and spoke to a customer relations agent named le roy today, November 3rd, 2015 and was told that Ford will only authorize 1 day car rental to repair any transmission problems! I know of no dealership that can perform the repairs in 1 day! how in the world can this repair be done in 1 day? it took 3 weeks in November 2014 when they replace the entire transmission. I was told I could pay for any remaining days rental if I wanted my car repaired! the transmission is faulty, dangerous and I should have to pay any rental days it takes to repair this car? this is a manufacturer defect and should be repaired at no cost to any customers! I hope you start taking this matter seriously. As an american I try to buy only american made products and this is how a big corporation is allowed to treat it's customers is an absolute disgrace!!!!! recall this car. . Please before someone dies!!!.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

Ford Fiesta 2012 transmition shakes everytime I go from stop to first and second gear, it vibrates and hesitates horrible, and the dealers keep saying it is "normal" even though I test drove a new Ford Fiesta and it does not have the same issue. I really do not know what to do now. I would not be able to sell it like this, and it can not be repaired because it is "normal"!.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2015

I bought the car less than 5 months ago and have driven it 2,580 miles. The transmission and clutch are defective. It has been to the shop 3 times, they have already reprogrammed it, replaced the clutch and now they are replacing the transmission control module. The car has not shifted right from the day I bought it. It feels like it is going to "stall" when I'm in reverse (in motion), or when going from stop to go. I have been braking on numerous occasions, when it decided to upshift, lurching the vehicle forward, once into a crosswalk, once very close to another vehicle. This is very dangerous. It never drives the same way twice. When entering traffic, it doesn't always want to shift properly, and has lack of acceleration or a delay. It shakes, hard sometimes (in motion and stationary), it feels like you are in a massage chair. It makes a weird clicking noise, at times (in motion. ) other times a weird grinding noise. Today it wouldn't get out of 1st gear (in motion) and had to be towed back to the dealer. I had to call out of work and I am concerned for my safety. Car bought 7/72015 - problems have been going on until today - 12/7/2015.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2015

Closed the rear passenger door and it wouldn't shut at all. There is no way to secure the vehicle. Can't be drove because it won't stay shut. Presently at valley Ford and Ford said we need to wait for a letter when parts are available. Presently having to pay out of our pocket $48. 00 a day for a rental because our son is at college in portsmouth and needs his car. Ford hasn't given us a date of when parts will be available to repair vehicle. They said they might be able to reimburse us.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

Radiator ac condenser cooling fan will short out and catch fire without warning. Extensive damage. .

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

I went out to dinner and when we came back to the car my passenger opened the passenger front door and it would not close. I proceeded to walmart and bought bungie cords to tie it shut and when my passenger opened the rear passenger door the same thing happened and I had to tie that one as well. Upon contacting Ford and the local dealership I am very dissatisfied with how little is being done to fix this problem since it is under a recall. I have been told that they will only fix the two that are broken now and will fix the other two once the parts are in a plentiful supply. I was told it would take an extended period to get the parts and that I could drop my car off to be fixed. This is very unacceptable, the car is not able to be safely operated thru no fault of mine. I drive at least 30 miles to work every day and depend on this car for transportation, and no offer of assistance with that has been offered either.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

The transmission for this Fiesta is experiencing problems. It shudders and doesn't stay in gear. There is an active recall out on it but Ford refuses to acknowledge it. They also don't tell you unless you call them. It is a safety hazard. It could be as simple as a bad seal in the automatic transmission or it could be a clutch problem which is back ordered.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Rear passenger door will not secure. Latch seems to have broken/malfunction. Cannot drive the vehicle unless the two back doors are tied together from the inside, to prevent them from opening while driving.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

On warmer days, with the a/c on, vehicle intermittently stalls coming to a stop. It stalls about every 25-50 stops.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Around may 1, my front passenger-side door flew open while I was driving to work. A few minutes of internet research identified that this was likely due to a recall that had been recently initiated by Ford (door latch replacement - NHTSA recall number: 15v246 - Ford recall number: 15s16) (this failure confirmed later by the shop). I had my vehicle towed to the nearest dealership and managed to work with Ford to secure a rental car for me until the time that this recall repair had been completed. Specifically, "to have all four door latches replaced with a more robust service part. " now that was over three months ago. I am still in the rental car, yet the recall status is still "12 - recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available. " furthermore, I have not received any paperwork about this recall or instructions for remedy. And finally, I am concerned because "the ending date for reimbursement eligibility is December 1, 2015. " is there any way I can get more information about this recall? in phone calls, Ford has not had much information about the status of this recall. Can the NHTSA do anything to make them move faster?.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2015

This morning when I was going to drive to work, I found the front right door does not close. I tried to close it several times but failed. The door just didn't stay shut. This is not the first time this happened to me. About 8 months ago, the door at back right side had the same issue. It caused me $400 to fix that. Now another probably another $400. . . .

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2015

Rear passenger door latch failed and door does not stay closed. Happened after checking on my son in his car seat. Thankful it didn't happen on the interstate since we were traveling all morning. Ford states it is not under warranty nor has the latch been recalled yet. Had the timing of the latch failure been different it could have been catastrophic.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2015

The rear passenger door unlatched while turning a corner (child-lock was on). My 3 yr old and 10 yr old was in the back when it happened. They both have autism. Thankfully, no one was hurt!! the door will not shut. I just received a call from the dealer and they said the latch is broken. Are you kidding me??? even worse. . . . The repair is 501. 63. What???? this is a safety issue!!! my car is so only 3 years old. There should be a recall on the latch, ASAP!! this is ridiculous!! thank god my 3 yr old is restrained in his car seat and didn't put his hand/arm out when the door opened. If it had been my 10 yr old. . . . He might've jumped out (he has zero sense of fear due to his autism). I will sue everyone in my path of a hair on my child's head gets harmed. As a parent, I do everything I can to protect my children. I shouldn't have to worry about my car door opening for no reason!! especially if I have the child safety lock on!! please fix this!!!.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

Car was parked at a store when my friend got into the backseat she didn't realize the back passenger door wasn't latched. I pulled out of the the space as my friend was latching her seat belt and fell out of the car. She ended up with an abrasion on her right arm.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

On April 6, 2015 my rear passenger suddenly stopped working. I had just arrived at my destination, was there for a few minutes, and then started my car up. The light alerting me that I had a door ajar came on. I figured it was my drivers side front door and reopened and closed it again. I noticed that my display said that the rear passenger doors side was ajar. I thought odd because nobody uses my doors. I got out, and tried to close the door only to have to bounce back at me. The door would not latch closed. Fortunately, a friend was able to loan me a bungee cable to hold my door closed. It is currently secured with rope and the bungee cable. On the 21st, as I was making a u-turn in a residential area, my driver's side passenger flew open. At the same time my drivers side door started to unlatch as well, terrifying me and resulting in a minor collision. I managed to get my drivers side latched again, but now I have to have all of my door secured, I bought this car brand new from the dealership. A brand new 2012 Ford Fiesta failing in early 2015. In addition to my door problems, my model had a recall notice for I believe some transmission problems. My car was violently shuddering, cutting out/turning itself off, etc. This occurred when I was at a red light, while driving, reversing, etc. I took it in to have the problem fixed and it is still occurring. I'll try to give the car some gas and it'll shudder and die, I had to replace my car battery because it kept getting drained which did not help the problem, trying to reverse while always result in my car cutting off unless I hit the gas, and it seems it doesn't shift gears correctly. As I said before, I bought this car brand new. I am honestly scared for my safety. I can no longer driver my cat which is utterly unacceptable. I refuse to risk my life.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2015

I bought my Fiesta last year in March. Since the day I got the car it has violently shaken and shuddered when pressing the gas and moving the car forward. It makes a horrible grinding noise. It's almost as if the transmission is going out but I've been told by the dealer that I bought it from that it's not the transmission and that "it's supposed to sound like that. " I don't think so and after reading all of the similar complaints from other drivers, I'm starting to get frustrated. This sounds like a serious issue and I would like to see it corrected. My car had somewhat stalled several times in oncoming traffic both in the city and on the highway and I fear for my safety and fear for myself financially if this vehicle dies before it even turns 5 years old.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2015

This car has had 2 door latches fail and need replacement after only 50,000 miles and no collisions. In October of 2014, the rear passenger side door latch failed and required replacement as per the dealership. The car was outside the bumper-to-bumper warranty at this time. However, I believed this was a major safety concern as the door would not close, requiring me to tie it down with a bungee cord. I contact Ford motor company multiple times and they would not offer any sort of assistance with the repair. After paying for the repairs out of pocket, the front passenger side door latch failed in March of 2015. Once again, I contact Ford. This time my case was escalated to a regional customer service manager but the end result was the same. This car is only 3 years old with 50,000 miles on it and two door latches have failed. This is a major safety issue. Two defective door latches have left me with two doors which would not close and required tying ropes and bungee cords to seats to secure them. Even with these measures, the doors were still prone to swinging open while driving. Without the doors being able to fully close, I also could not lock my car. As of March 24th 2015, no recall on these door latches has been issued despite this being a known issue with the service manager at my Ford dealership and the Ford customer service. This is unacceptable and I believe Ford should be required to fix these defective door latches. Once again, these are major safety issues and substantial expenses costing me $400+ per each door latch replacement.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2015

After shopping and loading the groceries into the car. The right rear passenger door would not stay shut. The door latch would not latch. After tying it shut and taking it to my mechanic, he advised me that the door latch had broken. This vehicle was not involved in any incidents or accidents. I called my local Ford dealer and they reported they were aware of an issue with the rear door latches but that there was not an active recall on them. It will cost me at least $300. 00 to have it fixed.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2015

Went to shut rear passenger door and the door will no longer close. There was no damage to the car. It was never in an accident and is less than 3 years old but is not covered under warranty as you have to have less than 32,000 miles.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2015

The rear passenger side door just came open on its own and would not close. My 6 year old daughter was riding in her booster seat in the rear driver's side seat when it came open. Had she been in the other seat, she could have fallen out! the door will not close at all and in fact, bounced back and hit me when I tried to close it. I now have to tie the door shut with a rope connected to the other door to keep it in place. The dealership wants $600 to fix it!.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

I put something in the passenger side back seat, as I closed the door, it bounced back open. I thought something was in the way of making the door close, I checked, nothing was there. I thought the latch was stuck, it wasn't. I had to find some bungee cords to keep the door closed on my 42 mile drive home. I could only imagine if my kids were in the car when something like this was to happen.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2015

Got my 3yr old child out of the passenger rear door. Went to close the door and walked away. As I turned it didnt sound right as the door shut. So I tried to close it again. The door latch failed to close the door. So now I am unable to keep the door shut. I was forced to get a rope and tie the door to the other rear door to keep it shut so my interior lights shut off and not kill my battery and to turn the door alarm off.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2015

Rear side door latch not locking the door. Was about to drive with my 2 daughters on the back seat when I noticed that the door is not locking.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2015

While the car was in motion, the door open light and the interior car lights turned on, then I immediately noticed that the back door behind the passenger's side opened by itself. I stopped and tried to close it and it would not shut or lock. The passenger at the time had to hold the door until we got to our destination. Real hazard to the cars that were right by mine and my passengers. It was scary to think of all the things that could have gone wrong because the latch suddenly failed out of nowhere. Called Ford and it's a more than $300 fee to fix the latch system on that door and the service clerk told me that this is something that happens. This does not make sense. If Ford knows this, why aren't they doing anything? never before have I heard of a latch breaking while a car is in motion, specially when my car's back doors are almost never used and my car is still relatively new. I don't want to think that this might happen with any of my other car doors as well. This conveniently happened when my car's warranty expired.
