general problems of the 2013 Ford Fiesta - part 1

Transmission won't move in reverse and goes slow in drive.

Cars transmission went out at 64000 miles car started jerking then showed a message to use brake stop safely I pulled over and then said transmission hot give a few minutes then after a few minutes it said transmission ready then I tried to drive it and it did the same thing all over again. When I got it home I found out the reverse is out.

While driving the vehicle all power was lost and the car was not controlable. The engine malfunction lilght did come on. I did have the car towed and is apparently a know wiring issue related to service bulletin TSB-131115.

6/18/20 car seized up as if hand brake were on. Loud grinding, shaking, barely move on acceleration. Ford dealer said nothing wrong. 6/20/20. Returned to Ford with same complaint but worse. Repaired transmission leak. 8/11/20 towed to aaa recommended mechanic. Said problem was brakes. Made repair. 8/31/20 same symptoms but much worse. Towed to same mechanic. Do not have response yet. Researched symptoms on motorbisquit, carcomplaints, Ford corporate website. All say 2013 Fiesta transmission is a lemon. My car is dangerous to drive.

Engine malfunction service now message appears randomly. Engine loses power, no accelerator pedal function while highway or street driving, in traffic, presenting a dangerous driving hazard. Ford dealer say's" no dtc found upon testing. Cannot determine cause, cannot repair .

Im not sure if I have selected correct options. But all I know is when I slow my car and they try to accelerate the car does not speed up immediately it take few minutes. Hence I have to accelerate more to make the car running. This has always been an issue. Quite difficult while switching lanes on highways or taking turns. Specially driving in winter is scary. I find the car very unpredictable. I took it to the servicing centre in toronto CA at dufferin for the recall that was issued and the issue is still not resolved. After informing them they just disregarded saying this is an issue with all Ford. Thinking im a women and dont understand much of cars I forgot about it. Even when it rains while applying a brake it startles and doesn't stop immediately. This issue was also discussed with the Ford centre at dufferin st in toronto. I sometimes fear to drive my car as I have my child and pets along with me. This is ongoing thing daily so cant specify which date exactly as whenever we drive we have this issue.

While driving on a city street or otherwise, my car's engine malfunction light will come on. The car will suddenly jerk and slow down. No matter how hard I press on the gas pedal, it will not go over 30mph. I have almost been slammed into several times due to the sudden loss of speed. I've taken it in twice and had the gas pedal replaced as the computer picks up a problem between the chip and the computer. And both times the new part has failed. I've looked into this and it seems to be a reoccurring problem across the board, and a dangerous one considering Ford is aware of the problem.

I had to have the transmission replaced after owning the car a few months. At only 30k miles. Thank god it was still under warranty. However, since then, the car has continued to malfunction. I have not taken it into a dealer since because of the other comments and complaints I have seen regarding this car. The car continues to jerk forward when moving from a stop. The car constantly shudders when driving. The car hesitates when accelerating. I even had to pull the fuse out for the radio because the speakers would constantly pop, even with the radio off. I truly believe there is an issue even with new transmissions in this car. If the transmission is replaced, the same problems should not continue. I do not have the time nor the money to keep fixing something that is not fixable. I will continue to drive a car that I feel unsafe in until I cannot anymore. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. On the "when did this happen" field, I put today's date because it happens every day.

There is a recall on this call and I have called the sheheey Ford and they do not have the records on the car the electric system is not working and the engine is slipping.

Purge valve caused fuel tank to be sucked in 3/4 of an inch. While driving I have surging and when stopped the idle is erratic and bounces between 1000 to 2000 rpm. Causes code p0300 to come and go and also p0497 to come and go. Extremely hard for dealerships to find the problem. I have video and picture proof of issue.

While driving "engine malfunction service now" light comes on, then stops accelerating in motion. Turned vehicle off/on light goes out, continue driving and it happens again. Did all my checks and balances, seems like a manufacturures issue. High safety issue when traveling. Had transmission shutter seal replaced twice in 2 yrs by Ford dealership free of charge.

Hello there! it's been a really long story, but my car has had a history of transmission problems that have been replaced twice now on Ford's dollar. It's been having the same issues now and it's even worse. It's non drivable. There are two open recalls for it, 14m01 and 14m02. I took it to the Ford dealership and we've gone back and forth with manufacturing, but it's so broken they can't pull those codes. They say that I need to pay for a tear down (at least 1,200) so they can diagnose it to see if they'll reimburse me. I'm obviously not going to pay for that and I'd like Ford to pay for it, but they won't. I have an open case with them, but reached the end of the line. Can you help?.

It started smoking all of a sudden from the engine area. I think the manufacturer is not revealing the real problems in the recall notice.

The vehicle was not inspected by an independent mechanic, dealer, or the insurance company to determine the cause of the fire. The contact also stated that an unknown warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. Vehicle is dangerous. I have experienced loss of power with no response to the gas pedal. Car jerks violently while driving making it very difficult to steer and maintain. I have not driven car in months because it is a safety hazard. I have taken car to dealer 4 times and each time they are fixing the transmission, but it does the same thing right after getting the car back. Avoid this vehicle do not buy.

When I take off from a stop the engine chugs, jerks, chatters, and grinds.

This car has been a nightmare . I complained about transmission and catalytic converter. I now notice that the fuel is not getting the an mount. I m averaging 20 to 25 miles even though it says 33. I see it jumps. I called they said plugs don't have to change until 40000 miles. The milage is moving even though I am driving in a 10 mile radius.

Car works fine and then sputters and comes almost to a stop. States that I need a new throttle body. The car has been doing this since purchase and the dealership claims they never can find a problem. Now it has been determined that it is the throttle body.

My 2013 Ford Fiesta shudders and or bucks upon acceleration. Moving forward through intersections is incredibly dangerous due to the uncertainty of the transmission. My 2013 Fiesta has had the transmission worked on by way of a Ford dealership and parts replaced. I worry every time I drive my car that it may be the one time I don't make it through an intersection. I would not ever purchase another Ford vehicle again. The last time I had problems with shuddering the dealership had tested my car and the shuddering was within guidelines of passing under the Ford tests. This is unacceptable! I cannot believe that I have to continue to pay for a car that could essentially be a death trap and considered unsafe.

On-going issue w/ chugging,gringin and jerking-front derivers side of car. Started in 2014- told dealership steven Ford(patchogue,NY) they stated no issue. Noise got repeadetly worse over time. Had missouri dealership look at when I foundout there was recall on the transmission- stated reset computer all repaired. Came back to NY with extended issue took to tower Ford (great neck, NY) kept for a week stating they had to diagnosis w/ 260 fee. Was then told it was a part in the transmission - not covered under warranty and will cost $ 5,000. 00 to fix. Was told I could drive off lot-took to outside garage in glen oaks, NY where they informed me I had a hole in my transmission that by looking at could have been noted w/ no diagnostic needed. Tower charged me for the 260 diagnostic and sent me on my way. Ford corporate had been notified of all issues and refuses to help. I am 8 months pregnant- drove this car across the country and no one connected to Ford wants to help- it is a 2013! tower Ford told glenoaks garage that we did this to the transmission when we drove it 6 miles from one location to the other. This car has been a danger to drive and no one advised me of this extensive transmission issue!.

Too many recalls on this car. Only have had it for 7 months. They have sent several recall slips saying that different parts need to be replaced and that some things are wrong with the engine and now I found that the car will not cut off even when the key is out of the ignition. My daughter is 4 months pregnant and she has a 7 month old that rides in the car as well and I would hate for this to turn into a law suit for Honda and Ford. Honda sold me the car and Ford has been made aware of this problem. I would like someone to pay attention no matter how busy they are. My grand kids are very important to me and so are my kids. The car stotters and I get a shutter noise between 10and30mph. It scares me to death that it is going to stop. I have had 4fords before, never new and very high mileage and never had this problem. For a new car it absolutely causes me much anquish. I have had it checked twice. I only have 8,280 miles on it and bought it brand new may, 2013. I am 75 and expected this car to last at least 10 years. What can you do?.

I have less than 15 thousand miles and my catalytic converter needs to be fixed. I took it in and now they have to order the part today. I have had engine leak, a bad transmission, a recall on emission, bad tranny they extended warranty. What next. I barely road the car. They need to be ashamed of themselves for selling . The car still jerks even though they adjusted the tranny.

Took the car in and they gave us a rental. The tech called yesterday to say they are working in it (day 2) then they call this morning to say what it is doing is normal. I told them it is not normal for a car to just lose momentum then when it does go it lurches forward and starts going real fast. There is a problem either with the engine or transmission. Someone is going to get killed and I am deadly afraid its going to be one of us. Ford just does not want to admit there is a problem.

I am bringing this car in for the fifth time now for different reasons. Main problem is shuddering, jolting, and hesitating. I almost got in an accident on February 3rd from the car hesitating when placing foot on gas pedal. I have to replace clutch for second time, and I only have had the car for 6 months. . . . .
