36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

While driving the car starting suddenly sounding like fireworks were going off. Loud, and scary nearly causing accident. Continued to blair startling loud sounds for prolonged time.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2017

Strange egg type smell coming from vents when I turn on heater, difficult to breath in car when this occurs. This continues to happen.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

The driver's door will not latch shut. The car was in the drive way and when I tried to close the door it would not close.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2017

It started smoking all of a sudden from the engine area. I think the manufacturer is not revealing the real problems in the recall notice.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2017

2013 Ford Fiesta had door latches replaced in January 2016 under recall. No problems had occurred with the doors previously on this vehicle. 18 months later, the replaced door latch failed. The vehicle was stationary. The failed latch was on the driver's side rear door which is rarely used.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

Door is having trouble latching. Sometimes feels like the door is closes and comes unlatched while driving. Trying to close the door several times has resulted in a dent in the door and broken interior door handle.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

I have been experiencing transmission problems including the car stalling when accelerating while trying to complete turns in traffic during turn signals. I have at one point a situation at a stop light where brakes were applied and car went forward unexpectedly. Additionally since almost the beginning of the vehicle it has run rough, sometimes having difficulty changing gears, multiple incidents where it stalled when accelerating on interstate. Had 2 different repairs to review problem, including Ford computer fix that was supposed to help, but did not. This happened multiple times for these instances. Instance I demoted on calendar involved vehicle stalling at turns which has happened multiple times as well.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

The front passenger door latch failed. It would not close. I had to use a thin piece of plastic and lasso it between the door, the front passenger seat metal part of the headrest, and along the door handle. Despite doing this the door remained opened (as displayed on the instrument panel) and the inside dome lights would not cutoff. I noticed the door was open just as I had began pulling off. I hopped out shut the door got back in on the drivers side only to see that the instrument panel was still displaying that the door was open. What's ridiculous is on sept 6, 2016 I went into the dealer (marshall Ford were I bought the car brand new with 13 miles on it) because the rear passenger door did the exact same thing which was under recall 15s16. Was advised by the service manger 'jim" at marshall Ford, 1075 west terra lane,o'fallon,mo 63366 that the "replacement part had a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty'. . I'm within the 1 yr timeframe but have exceeded the mileage component. I had to get it fixed so I can get around and was told by "randolf" at Ford motor company customer relations (800-392-3673) to keep the receipt incase Ford issues another recall. This is beyond unsafe and ridiculous.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

This car has transmission/clutch issues. I've taken it to Ford and they are saying it's the brakes. The sound that my car is making has nothing to do with brakes. My car hesitates, shudders, jerks when driving. It also has a loud noise that I've been told once by Ford that it sounded like the clutch. Now they say there is nothing wrong with clutch/transmission. My car feels like it's a stick shift and when driving sometimes it feels like it's going to stall after stopping. Sometimes I can't get it to reach the speed I want and it has difficulty accelerating. I do not feel safe driving it that is why I have taken it to Ford again. I have videos with the noise it's making and I have even played it for the people at Ford. Despite having heard the video and having driven my car, they say it's fine, nothing is wrong with it. The noise is getting worse and I feel like if I continue driving the car I will get into an accident.

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

This happened back in Nov. 2016. I seen the the recall from Ford on 2. 9 million cars. Although my make and model is not specifically named in the recall, it is exactly what happened to me. I went to eat at a diner and pulled in to the parking space. I put the car in park, and took my foot off the brake. When I did so, my car jumped forward on to the sidewalk and crashed into the building. This caused both myself and my mother who was 82 at the time to be thrown forward toward the dash and front windshield. It was necessary to call the ems, fire, and ambulance to inspect the structure and tend to me and my mom. There was not any lights or warning when this happened. It was my first time experiencing this from the car. We had the car taken to the body shop to repair the damages, however there was never a mechanical checks done on the vehicle (we would not have suspected the need to do that).

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2016

Went to start my vehicle and it did not turn on at all. There is just a clicking noise, so the starter is good, however the battery was dead. I jumped started the car and was able to drive. My information screen said, "transmission malfunction please service now". The vehicle would run at 4,000 rpms before shifting when usually it's supposed and did shift at 3,500 rpms. As I would brake and be under 5mph the vehicle would lurch forward and I would have to slam my brakes in order to make a complete stop and avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. I took it back home and haven't drove it since. Today I tried to unlock my car with my wireless key fob and the doors wouldn't unlock. My vehicle completely lost all power. On the Ford website for my specific vehicle, it shows I have field service actions. Fsa title: transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension. 150,000/ 10 year warranty. Fsa title: transmission control module extended warranty coverage. I have learned the transmission control module can end up having a short and your car can shutter when it shifts and it can lose all power. This is very dangerous and should be addressed by Ford and the national highway traffic safety administration, before someone loses their life.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

My car has transmission issues. It shudders and hesitates when trying to go into gear. It has been to service well over 6 times in 2 years. I am told that this is the design of the car and I need to understand that this 6-speed automatic shifts internally different. When on the open road and it is in gear it functions ok. In town going from stop light to stop light is when the issue occurs. It hesitates in acceleration and shudders. It has failed me exiting onto a major freeway by not kicking into the proper gear. I no longer try to merge onto a freeway in this car. There is not a doubt in my mind that this car is a safety issue. There have been numerous complaints just like mine about this car. I have tried and tried to tell Ford corporation and the local dealership about these issues. I have written a letter stating my concern for my safety in this car. I have gone to the local dealership on numerous occasions and made many attempts at getting them to listen to me regarding these transmission issues. I have left there so offended by them acting like there is nothing wrong with this car when I know they know there is a problem. They put in back on me the driver that I don't know how to drive the car. I have been driving for 38 years most have been 5 speeds, I understand completely how a car is suppose to drive and for them to insinuate otherwise is insulting to me. Again this car is a safety hazard and more so than ever now, because the safety latches have malfunctioned on the passenger rear and front doors. I do not feel safe at all driving this car but I have no other options as Ford low-balled me on a trade in because they are aware of these issues.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2016

This car has been a nightmare . I complained about transmission and catalytic converter. I now notice that the fuel is not getting the an mount. I m averaging 20 to 25 miles even though it says 33. I see it jumps. I called they said plugs don't have to change until 40000 miles. The milage is moving even though I am driving in a 10 mile radius.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2016

At 18,250 miles, rear door latch failed. Door needed to be tied closed in order to travel to dealership on 09/12/14 for repair. On 9/12/15 front door latch was replaced per recall. Other doors inspected. On 1/20/15 the right front door latch failed on the car while my 17 year old daughter was driving the vehicle. In order to get home, she had to reach across the passenger seat and hold the door closed while driving. I can not for my life think of a more dangerous situation for a young driver. The car has been taken in for the latch to be replaced. The only documentation that I have are repair orders from the incidences. Please contact me if you need to have them sent to you.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

I was unaware about the Ford Fiestas having a recall on the transmissions. My car hesitates , jerks and hard to accelerate. It is very dangerous for me when I'm driving on the highway to school and to work and also it has been at Ford service center many times for them to tell me that's just how Ford made the car and just accelerate more.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2015

I purchased a 2013 Ford Fiesta I purchased on December 23, 2015 at the laurel, maryland carmax store. On Saturday, September 24th, I went to jim coleman Toyota to buy a Toyota prius. They examined my Ford for its trade-in value. The manager, who was a former carmax manager, examined the car and informed me that my Ford Fiesta has unibody damage. The rear driver's side as be replaced. The car has unibody damage was not disclosed to me when I purchased this car on December 23, 2015. I purchased the car for $14,000, which is far above the blue book value of $9,419. In March 2016, I bought the car to carmax in laurel for overheating. The heat pump was replaced for $250. Additionally, on September 15th, I paid for repairs at the carmax gaithersburg store. The repairs were for the following: 1-front passenger door latch;2-truck latch; and 3-horn I was charged $250 to repair critical safety features. While the car was in gaithersburg, the battery drained. The car door could not close, so the interior lights remained on. I reported the door latch problems on Monday, August 29th. The car was in park. My sister and I were trying to leave for church and the door would not close. However, I was not given an appointment until September 8th in gaithersburg and September 13th in laurel. That was quite a long time to wait for such a critical issue. I would have never purchased a car with unibody damage had it been disclosed. To be charged for a recall item that should have been repaired prior to purchase, is unconscionable. I am totally outraged.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2015

Buzzing, thumping, fluttering through speakers - even with engine off. Noise can be extremely loud and occurs unexpectedly while driving.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

Ford has recalled transmission control module on my car, it has been determined a transmission clutch is needed to repair the car to prevent the car from changing gears while the car is in motion and can cause damage, harm and death. The dealership will not repair my car as required by Ford motors company as I have requested a rental car while my car in in service. I am seriously concerned if my car is not repaired the car could cause harm to me and possible death as the car does hestiate and stall while going thru intersections and at stop signs and take off.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

The transmission has been slipping constantly. When starting from a dead stop the transmission slips preventing its from catching the first two gears. Also the passenger side door latch will not close. The door all of a sudden came open while driving. This car is unsafe.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

Car is stalling and chugging at low speeds. Car does not accelerate properly and will jump/skip. This is an ongoing issue. Car was originally taken to dealership for service 09/2014 and it was determined that fluid in the clutch was leaky. Problems reemerged in 02/2015 & 04/30. Dealer determined car was running to Ford specifications. Car continues to exhibit same issues.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2015

Rear passenger side door will not latch to stay closed causing door to swing open at any time.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

I purchased a vehicle which came with some recalls so far I've had 3 my newest one is the transmission clutch which is very distracting and annoying as I drive I was at one point ready to give it back to the dealership I need it fixed do I can go on vacation but it seems a very long time if a wait since I heard back from the dealership this was added on as a recall but why is it I don't see it listed under yours I also got nothing on the air bag but I see it on yours and of course I knew about the latch for door I got a notification on that.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Loss of power. . The transmission control module may experience electrical circuit failures causing loss of transmission engagement, no start, or lack of power. . Only been driving vehicle 6 months , it has been in shop already but they say they can't fix it unless Ford gives them permission. . Contacted Ford case # cas7928058. . This loss of power most frequently happens at take off. . Stoplights, stop signs, busy intersections. . .

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

The door latch of the back passenger door malfunctioned and would not latch/close the back seat door. The latch was determined to uncorrectable and the door was unable to completely close. Houston's Ford helfman provided information that the malfunction was recall, but the current recall was not released publicly. When contacting houston's helfman Ford dealership they proved to be rude and very difficult to provide quality information on correcting their manufacture's malfunctioning part. The vehicle is currently in their shop, however the status of resolving the issue was unknown by the end of the day. A formal complaint was made then about a half hour later the service manager called and apologized for his team's unprofessional and rudeness. Additionally, he stated he will escalate the issue to get it resolved or begin the inspection process. The point of this complaint is the fact that we were fortunate to discover this malfunction in the drive way. If we were driving with passengers - young children, canines, or elderly - in the back seat and the problem was discovered at 60 mph on a highway then this could have been a tragic failure.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

While taking the baby to visit the grand parents, we arrived there and taking the baby out of the car the passenger rear door popped open and would not latch. We had to tie the door closed. The car is not safe to drive in this condition, rely on ropes and bungee cords to keep the door closed. It offers no protection in the event of a crash. This condition should be reported to the car owners now, they should have to wait for doors on the vehicle to pop open to find out they have a problem with the car.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

I bought the car in October 2014. It was a week later I noticed the issues with the transmission that I would push on the gas pedal that it would either jerk or take a second just too get the car to move. I took it in to a dealership and the dealership was terrible and said they fixed it. However when I got the car back the next day I was driving to work in sandy, utah on state street when the transmission went out and I had to get it towed back to the dealership where they wouldn't take any ownership of the issue. They said it was a "coincidence". They fixed it and I didn't have an issue until two months later the issue started happening again with the jerking forward and feeling that it was lurching forward.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2015

While driving on the freeway, my passenger door suddenly swung wide opened. I had to pull over and then hold the door all the way to dealership. The dealer said they will fix the passenger door only since they were not allowed to fix the rest of the doors even though all 4 doors are in recall. My car have been with the dealer for the past two weeks since there is no part to fix my door latch. Its very unsafe to drive this car and Ford do not care about it.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2015

Rear passenger door latch failure. Ford dealer has car for two weeks with no repair. Received recall letter but will not repair due to lack of. Parts. I am left with an unsafe car to transport my child.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2015

The car shudders and spits at take off. Sometimes stalls both in forward and reverse when I first give it gas.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2015

As my family backed out of the driveway to go somewhere, the car started dinging like the door was open. I saw it was saying the rear passenger side door was ajar (I was sitting by that door), so I opened and tried to close the door. The door could not latch, and nothing could get it to latch. Not even locking the car would make the car latch. We obviously couldn't go anywhere in the car since the door could fly open whenever it wanted, so this is insanely crazy. This car has less than 9000 miles on it, and I can't close the door, I can't imagine what could have happened if a child were in the backseat. This is insanely dangerous. Right now, I have a bungee cord holding the door closed! I'll take it to the dealer in the morning since the service dept is closed today.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

This vehicle has been in for service four times for the same issue. The issue is the throttle pedal sensor. While driving, the vehicle will lose power and the service lights illuminate. If in cruise control, the cruise control shuts down and the vehicle loses power without warning. On the interstate, this requires an immediate action to avoid an accident. I was able to reset the car by shutting it down and restarting. The repairs only stopped the problem for 10-12k miles.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2015

On Friday may 22nd 2015 at approx 4pm I took my family out for dinner and when we got to the restaurant the passanger door would not close, and it hasn't since then. I learned by researching on line that this is an effective recall. It has happened to me previously on the rear passanger door as well which is the door where my daughter child seat is, same story we went ourtfor dinner, got to the place and the door would not work. It is very frustating because when you buy a new car you expect not to have any issues for a long time. I bought this car with 700 miles on it, at 18k I had a blown engine that was replaced by the dealer (what an inconvenience), then I had the rear passanger door latch broken, right after my warranty miles (dealership wanted almost $500 for the replacement) so I got that fixed some where else. Now at 67k the other door. Being my only car I have, it makes things very complicated, to arrange moving the family every time this car breaks down its a mission impossible. If mr. Henry Ford was alive his would be ashamed of what these people are doing with his brand. How it is possible that a car manufacturer that has existed for over 100 years cannot make things right the first time and we as consumers have to pay the consequences. They should be mandated to replace the entire car by now, not only repair the faulty equipment besides they don't know what customer service is. I wished I would've stay with my vw jetta which I owned for almost three years and never had issues, customer service was amazing, but I wanted to support the us industry, I was wrong, I had the same issues with Chevrolet. From this point on I won't by american cars anymore unless you can buy and return it for the full amount and no questions asked.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

Incident occurred 3 times. At highway speeds, with the cruise control engaged, the engine malfunction warning came on. The cruise control immediately disengages and the car slows down. This is dangerous when going up hill at highway speeds. There are no codes stored in the computer. The alarm should not flag without storing a code. Searching the internet shows this has been a problem with the Fiesta for many years. Dealers have made the same repairs several times on the same vehicle with the errors reoccurring. The primary concern is the error flagging without a code present. Ford needs to fix this poor design. In my case the cause of the error is likely a poor connection under the hood. That alone is a problem but if the system logged the error at least it would be easy to find. Many people have had their cars repaired thinking they were ok only to have it happen again. It’s scary driving on the highway when the car suddenly loses power.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2015

Car shakes and shudders when accelerates. At times it jerks and hesitates when stopped. When moving forward sounds like gears grinding , it is automatic. I have taken it 4 times to Ford in cocoa florida where I bought it and to be repaired and it still making grinding sounds and jerking! I am very cautious to pull out in traffic, afraid for me and my family to be riding in it.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2015

I had routine maintenance performed at the dealership on my 2013 Ford Fiesta on April 10, 2015. Everything passed inspection. Shortly thereafter, I began to notice the vehicle was sounding louder. As the weeks went on, it got progressively louder, I liken it to the sound of an airplane engine, and it would sometimes hesitate. On April 24, 2015, while running errands with my wife and 2 young children, the car stalled as we attempted to pull out of a store parking lot onto an extremely busy route. An SUV narrowly missed hitting us. The car finally went into gear and we were able to proceed with caution. From that point on, it has been shuddering and there is a grinding noise that can be heard. I brought it in to the dealership the next day. They say they are aware of this problem occurring with numerous Fiesta's and focus's, but cannot do anything because the parts are unavailable. I feel unsafe behind the wheel and I fear my car may be irreversibly damaged, or worse, someone may lose their life.
