The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping. The contact restarted the vehicle and the transmission worked as designed for a while. While traveling up a hill or at a stop light, the vehicle would drift backwards. The contact had to let the vehicle drift to shift into gear. At times the vehicle failed to shift. The engine and wrench warning lights were illuminated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Vehicle stops and starts with a jerk. Jumping causing slow down even while on the interstate. Ford is aware of this problem and has done to fix it. Seems like every Ford has this problem at some point.
I was on my way home coming down farrow rd. And my car stalled out, so I slowly pulled in the median turn car off and back on. When I got ready to pull out of the median the car wouldn't go no faster than 5 miles and hour. So I had my friend help me pull it out of the road and take me home and tow my car to the house. When I got it home there wasn't any acceleration, rpms wont move at all, car has power and cranks but when I put it in drive it won't go anywhere. It stalls and cuts off, even in neutral no acceleration. Everything lights up and cuts on but no acceleration. From my photos below you will see I have replaced alternator, throttlebody, the red and black wiring on the back of the intake I've checked all my hoses there was no splits no cuts no vacuum leak and every time I get a reading on it it gives me a different code please read and reply if this is a recall I need my car fixed immediately.
The intake manifold is melting on the inside causing melting plastic to drip into the throttle body, causing the car to run very poorly are not at all!!!.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle stalled and the wrench warning indicator for the transmission illuminated. The contact turned the vehicle off and back on, but it lost acceleration. Also, when the vehicle was placed in drive or reverse from a park position, it lunged forward and the brakes had to be applied immediately. Furthermore, the vehicle stalled four times since it was purchased two months ago. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing; however, an appointment was scheduled with duncan Ford (19999 virgil h goode hwy, rocky mount, va 24151) for August 26, 2019. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 102,797.
On a 55 mph road when you go to make a right turn and accelerate it would downshift and make a loud thud loud enough to make change rattle and it's almost like almost locks up for a minute you could loose control while turning but that's just how it started now when your going down a 55 mph backroad and go up a hill and the car downshifts it does it too my car only has 102,000 on it.
Hard knocking in transmission during normal operation. Interior lights come on while using vehicle and won't go off.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. When the contact placed the vehicle in reverse, it rolled forward and struck another parked vehicle. There was no damage to either vehicle and no injuries. A police report was not filed. When the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, it operated normally. Tom peck Ford (located at 13900 automall dr, huntley, IL 60142, (847) 669-6060) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
I own a 06 Ford fivehundred and at only 100,000 miles I began experiencing really hard downshifting and sometimes complete slip from gear slamming back into gear after rolling freely for a while happens when car reaches normal running temp was told whole transmission needs to be replaced seems like almost everyone with this vehicle regardless of the year has this same problem.
My car shut down and wrench came on in the dash stoped and it craned back up.
When temperature is below 25 degrees fahrenheit transmission either goes into safety mode or stops working ( no forward or reverse, a bit unnerving in at intersection). When transmission warms or ambient temperature is above 25 degrees works fine. This is a repeatable event, so appears to be a design flaw and not a mechanical failure. Have reviewed sites and have other owners with similar experience problems. Took to Ford dealer and told $2500. 00usd to fix but then stated unclear if ir would fix problem. Please remember it is not a mechanical problem but temperature related as auto works within specifications when temperature is warmer. This is a all wheel vehicle, so designed for winter weather.
Throttle body is defective due to build up within the throttle body's valve causing it to stick open or stay closed during reverse and forward driving. This in return causes a surge where at any unsuspecting moment the vehicle wood attempt to drive either in reverse or forward on its own regardless you physically pressing the brakes or the gas pedal. This is an obvious problem wiz 2005 2006 and 2007 Ford 500 and some models other than the 500 such as Ford freestyle Ford montego. This is a very dangerous issue and if not already will cause bodily injury or death. In my particular incident my vehicle have surged on a bypass causing me to almost rear end a large truck at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. There had also been countless incidents of my vehicle reverting into safe mode where my car I had slowed from 70 to 75 miles per hour down to 20 miles per hour within seconds. Both incidents have happened stationary in motion on city streets on highways and while turning. I was told the throttle body's electrical components are faulty and I was to pay $1,000 for a replacement part and installation.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that the vehicle had an unexpected acceleration as the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle or place it in reverse when the failure occurred. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. Additionally, the contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to accelerate out of first gear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 56,000.
When I start the car. . Everything is good. . I start driving and about 15 minutes later . . The check engine light comes on and the wrench light comes on. . . Then when I press the gas. . . The car barely can take off. . I can be at 3rpms and be barely moving . . I can put the car in park and press on the gas an their will be no rev up. When I put in reverse or back in drive . . It shifts real hard . . When I turn the car off. . Let it sit for a while. . U know, cool like 10 min. . . Then \ I start the car up its kind of back to normal for about 15 minutes. . . Then the warnings lights come back . . .
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle became unresponsive to acceleration attempts as the wrench icon and the traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the shaft was broken and the transmission would need to be rebuilt. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but did not rectify the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 126,000.
When I am in park or neutral my motor makes a ticking noise. When in drive it hoes away. Weird.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle would not respond upon acceleration attempts as the wrench warning icon illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the transmission would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
At times when placing car into reverse or drive it will lurch forward. When going up any hill and the 6 speed transmission needs to down shift, it seems that it pops into neutral and then pops into lower gear causing the car to jerk very hard. . The jerking can be so hard that I am scared that its going to break the motor mounts or the drive axles. This happens every time I am going up a hill or trying to pass someone on the interstate on flat land. Had to replace the low beam headlight sockets due to them overheating and melting the socket and causing the bulbs to stop working. The driver side window, when trying to bring it up it will stop and go back down. Sometimes it will do it a couple times before I can get the window all the way up. This is my first Ford I have ever owned and I am love with the car but not with the problems I am having with the car. Also, when the car hit 100,000 miles it started to burn 1 quart of oil between oil changes. I cannot find any leaks. I have see a lot of people having the same issues I am having with the lurching and jerking of the transmission. Wish Ford would do a real call for these problems because I just love this car!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, she attempted to accelerate to pass a vehicle but the vehicle jerked and would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 95,000. Kmj.
Had car set on cruise and all the sudden it just started jerking bad, like it was jaming in and out of gear.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the wrench warning icon illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the transmission would have to be replaced. Additionally, the vehicle would lunge forward when shifting from park to drive. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated while traveling approximately 60-70 mph, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle by shifting into neutral gear. The vehicle began to function normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the power train control module needed to be replaced. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was repaired previously under a safety campaign for the power train. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.
Vehicle surges for no particular reason and shows. A check engine light on (wrench). Control of acceleration is mixed and vehicle either lurches or feels as though transmission is in neutral and rpm's increase without acceleration by driver. Have a scheduled service call with Ford and have been issued a notice from Ford that this issue will be covered.
In multiple incidents, on hot summer days, the car has suddenly accelerated (with no foot on the accelerator) when backing out of parking spaces and sometimes when put into drive right after the sudden acceleration in reverse. It has required rapid, firm braking to prevent the car from hitting other vehicles. About a week after the problem started with this car, it started to happen occasionally with my other Ford Five Hundred (a 2005 model with a little less mileage). A separate complaint has been filed on that vehicle. Research online has revealed that hundreds of Ford Five Hundred owners have reported this issue and that the throttle body is the likely culprit.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated that while attempting to drive out into an intersection, the vehicle would not move forward. The vehicle rolled backward and stalled it. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 85,235.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the power train wrench icon illuminated. The contact was able to shut off and restart the vehicle in order to operate normally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body sensor failed, sending the vehicle into "limp mode", and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted on several occasions. The contact mentioned that the electronic throttle body sensor was replaced twice. The vehicle recently went into "limp mode" again. The dealer performed a diagnostic test, but a failure code could not be found. The vehicle was also test driven, but the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Car surges on its own, after putting it into gear.
I was turning on to a road and when I went to accelerate the engine just revved up like it was in neutral. I have had this car in to bob boyd Ford 2 times because the transmission jerks but they have told me there is nothing wrong with the transmission. The first time I had it in there for the jerking they said it was the computer and it needed reset. I have done research on the internet and found other people having the same problems as me and I don't understand why this problem has not gotten a recall issued for these cars. I am going to take it in one more time but if they tell me there is nothing wrong again I will be pursuing legal help with getting a class action started. If the NHTSA is really concerned for peoples safety and well being they should look into the problems people are having with the transmissions in these cars. All I had to do was look up on google 2006 Ford 500 recalls and I found all kinds of complaints about the same problems.
5/29/2009 transmission had to be replaced at 86,000 at a cost to me of $5197. 36 total. Brand new Ford transmission installed warranty given of 3years 100,000miles. 6/21/2012 again transmission needs to be replaced at 150,000 4weeks after warranty expires. I understand Ford has had so many problems with thuis cvt that they stopped installing them. Ford dealer commented they have had to replace so many and are surprised a recall has not occurred. Very distraught that I am going through this again.
I was approaching a red light and as I lifted my foot off the brake pedal. . . . . . . . . . . . . . The car accelerated abruptly and I was unable to stop causing me to pass red light, almost striking an oncoming vehicle that was making a left hand turn and driving onto sidewalk. Fortunately no one was hurt and an accident was avoided due to my quick response. The vehicle has accelerated abruptly on several other occasions. I was parked in a publics parking lot when I put my vehicle in reverse the vehicle once again accelerated almost hitting parked vehicle behind me. I was advised the throttle sensor was defective on 2005 & 2006 Ford Five Hundred models and no recall yet! this defect causes vehicle to accelerate abruptly (even when parked) or not accelerate at all! there have been many reports regarding this issue and nothing has been done about it. When a life is lost or someone is severely injured. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Is that when some action will be taken? according to reports even if the part gets replaced it does not guarantee it will not go bad again. Repairs have been known to cost between $450. 00 to $750. 00.
Car lunges forward in reverse and drive and while at a stop position. Mainly when the air conditioner is running. I'm always afraid of hitting the car in front of me while parking or going in reverse. God forbid a person is walking across a crosswalk. I see many complaints here but no one chooses to do anything about it. Took it to dealer and they said never heard of the problem and nothing to worry about. Well Ford will have a lawsuit if something terrible happens that causes injury or a accident to a parked vehicle and or person. I don't understand why this website is here if nothing is being done about it!!! I can see with other complaints its the dealers problem. We aren't all crazy about what's going on with our vehicles seeing how there similar stories here!!!.
At a reduced speed in drive and reverse transmission becomes erratic and unpredictable.
I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred that will lunge forward at odd times especially when the a/c is on. It is a major problem and I believe should have been recalled a long time ago. I bought my Ford Five Hundred in Jan 2008 and it has been doing it ever since. The dealer also replaced with used transmission and two weeks later that one was doing it. Problem started for me at about 45,000 mi . The dealer I purchased from said there was a bulletin out but no recall so I had to take the used transmission or buy a new one. It will just lunge forward even when braking or stopped. What a pain. I am amazed I haven't rear ended someone. Please recall this Ford before someone seriously gets hurt[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2006 Ford 500. The car will suddenly surge at idle. . . It also surges during gear shifts from park to drive and park to reverse. If you do not have your foot firmly on the brake pedal the car will suddenly surge forward. This can lead to damage of the vehicle or injury to a pedestrian. Arfc website has 125 reports of this problem. Seems to get worse around the 60-65,000 mile range. . . . Conveniently out of warranty. Taking car to dealer today for evaluation and repair.
Cvt transmission started making a "clicking" sound while in park, we took it in to our local dealer, they diagnosed it as under a TSB, but there were no parts available to fix it. So while we waited for the parts to be made (as we were told), the transmission went out as my wife and 7 month old child were driving it. So now I have a broken car with no parts available to fix it. Repeated calls and emails to Ford customer service had offered no solution.
