4 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/07/2020

Intermittent electrical failure of the advance trak traction control system causes the vehicle to unexpectedly pull to the left or to the right while under acceleration on vehicle speeds above 20 mph without indication from the tell-tale to the operator to indicate there is a problem or intermittent failure of the traction control system. This unexpected pull to the left or right is violent enough to cause the vehicle to veer across the centerline of a lane, potentially causing a risk to oncoming traffic and well as the operator of the vehicle to become involved in a crash. The failure will continue to occur intermittently without indication to the driver until the event occurs frequently enough during an ignition cycle to trigger the tell-tale to indicate a failure of the advance trak system, but this tell-tale on the dash only stays lit during the current ignition cycle and will not be present on the next ignition cycle, again failing to indicate the intermittent failure of the advance trak traction control system via the warning light tell-tale on the dashboard.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

My door started to say that the rear passenger door was open. And 1 week later I got a recall notice for the driver side door sensor saying it is open or ajar. I asked Ford if this included the back door. They required that I take in my car. I took it in and they never informed me if it included the back door they just went ahead and fixed the front door which was always working.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 05/07/2019

The engine stalls without warning while driving, even on highway or intersection or filling gas and the vehicle don't restart right away engine lights misfire. And engine throttle body sensors/oxygen sensors broke. Have fixed without resolve to issues (recurrent). On multiple dates and multiple times a day.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Passenger ajar sensor is faulty, constantly remaining on. This keeps all lighting on when reversing posing a great risk when backing the vehicle up especially in evening hours. We have been told this is a common problem with newer Ford vehicles and our surprised this has not been recalled yet. It is very difficult to safely drive with the interior lights staying on.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

The driver side door sensor keeps saying that the door is open when it's closed. While driving the car says shift to park and constantly alerts because it thinks that the door is open and won't allow the doors to lock. The car alarm goes off randomly even when it's locked and you aren't able to use the buttons to turn off the alarm without manually inserting the key in the door while pressing the button. . And the light on in the car will stay on all night because it thinks the door is open. I have seen this as an issue for many other people who own the Ford Flex as well. With the doors not locking during driving and battery drainage this concerns me as a mother.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 03/12/2018

Right passenger door keeps saying ajar when closed. Interior light stays on when doors shut and car is in motion. . Open and shut door several times but indicator stays on. Alarm goes off randomly at anytime car is parked. Doors do not lock anymore when car is being driven. Safety concerns that door is not shut when car is in motion.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

The door sensor keeps saying that the door is open when it's closed. The car alarm goes off randomly even when it's locked and no one touched the key. And the light on in the car will stay on all night because it thinks the door is open. Sometimes it says the door is shut and will be fine and other times it's open. I have seen this as an issue for other people as well. If there are enough complaints will you recall it?.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 11/28/2017

Repeated steering failures. Initial failure (spring 2016) occurred several months after collision repair (December 2015) done at dealer service department. Repaired vehicle came back with tighter steering than previously experienced. Failure in spring 2016 involved complete loss of power steering upon startup of vehicle. Shut down and restart did not restore power steering operation. Steering gear replaced by dealer service department. Second failure (spring 2017) involved loss of traction control, stability control, cruise control due to failure of power steering control module. Power steering control module replaced by dealer service department. Third failure (November 28, 2017) is loss of power steering gear upon vehicle startup. Shut down and restart restored power steering operation.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Door ajar light come on while driving even if the door is closed.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 07/15/2017

Service advancetrac and collision warning not available notifications present when driving, specifically occurring when turning. Ford dealership indicated the power steering control module (pscm) was detecting a motor position sensor fault and recommended replacement of electronic steering gear. I spoke with Ford customer service and the grand ledge michigan Ford dealership regarding recall safety recall 15s18 and both indicated that my VIN was not included in the recall. I would like to find out if my VIN may have been improperly excluded from the recall if the recall states Ford Flex models 2011-2013 assembled in oakville for all engines.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

Initially started in 2014 car seemingly locked up on me when exiting work place driveway and making right turn. Took car to airport marina Ford they keptt it for approx 2 -3 days unable to duplicate. Trouble has now reappeared in may and again today. Not sure what to do because of previous dealership case with them not being able to duplicate. I actually refused to take car back asking the the manager drive it around nothing found.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Door latch and door sensors over the course of at least a year, Ford has been recalling vehicles because of a faulty door latch. Ford has not recalled the Flex. Safety issues involved with the door latch include the inability to lock the door for safety because if the sensor registers the door is open, the door locks will not engage. There is also a knocking sound from the doors with a faulty latch. It sounds as if the latches are not fully engaged. As a result of the sensor problem, inside lights run for hours on end as if a door is open, running down a perfectly new and charged battery. I have spoken with Ford corporate and dealerships about this problem but they said it will not be fixed on their dime until a recall is issued. Assumingly, if other models are being recalled because of safety issues with the door latches, the Ford Flex, which also has door latch problems should be recalled for safety as well. Ford is aware of the problem but would rather Flex owners pay $500 per latch to ensure our family is safe while riding in a negligently manufactured vehicle. Does it take a kid falling out of a Ford Flex for the recall to be issued?.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

The vehicle was stationary, would not turn over to start. It would stall. Lights and electrical would come on. This has happened three times. Its a concern and safety issue with the fuel pump as believed by the reference of this site recall.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 02/16/2017

This 2013 Ford Flex has experienced several electrical, mechanical, and lighting issues. All 5 door latches, door sensors, car's alarm system, and battery has failed. The car's bcm has reported intermittent door ajar alarms. This effects the car's door locks as well as the car's dome light and car's alarm system. At no point will the car's doors lock while the car is in drive. So any child can open up a door while the car is in motion. The dome light comes on causing a vision glare at night. Twice my wife has almost pulled out in front of oncoming motoris at night, do to the light glare within the car. Because the car's dome light comes on intermittently, the car's battery drains down while parked. You cannot set the car's alarm without the door sensors setting the car's alarm system off. My local Ford dealership has replaced all 5 door latches and sensors, the car battery, and the bcm at a financial loss to me at $1700. 00. At no point has Ford offered to help with these issues. Now. . . It's time for the NHTSA to act and help protect the consumers before a tragedy strikes. Luckily. . . . I had the money to fix these issues to protect my family of six. Thank you!.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

Sensor indicates one of the back seat doors is ajar, but it appears to be closed. Repeated closing of door does not resolve issue. Car alarm sounds when vehicle thinks door is ajar. Inside lights stay illuminated when driving. This problem has been occurring over the last few weeks. I see that there has been a recall on other models, I've seen similar complaints from Flex owners online, and I believe the Flex should be recalled as well, especially since they are family vehicles and often (as in my case) are used to transport multiple children.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 10/30/2016

Drove my 2016 Ford Flex I tried to avoid animal on road and steering assist light came on couldnt steer and hit a pole. The dealership wouldnt look at cause I had it towed there told me I had to go where my inusrance would fix it I had no car for four months theres no recall on it cause its a new truck there were problems with this Flex in 2010-2016 getting the brushoff from my dealer.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

July 22, 2016. Wife started car in school parking lot and headed to the exit. While making a left hand turn onto the main road, and accelerating, loud noises again heard under the car and it lost power even while giving it gas. Had to pull over to the side of the road. Shut off car and re-started. No issues. Wife refuses to drive the car until fixed. Taken to dealer on July 29, 2016. Unable to duplicate. Returning to dealer Aug 5 for computer re-flash. This is a significant safety issue that is being reported all over the Ford Flex forums and it appears Ford motor company will not address the issue.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 06/28/2016

Passenger door, rear passenger door, and hatch door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. -interior light stays on -alarms goes off in the middle of the night -faulty latch dome light stays on and creates a night driving hazard. Creates a safety hazard when the dome lights stays on and I am sitting in a public area at night. False door ajar signal prevents me from recognizing a real door ajar situation, which is very dangerous. Doors sometimes may or may not not lock. Windshield wipers randomly turn on.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

Wife started car in school parking lot. Turned left and headed short distance the lot exit. While turning right onto the main road and starting to accelerate, heard ¿load noises¿ that seemed to be under the car. Car started to slow down even though she was giving it gas. She pulled over and shut the car off. Didn¿t notice any dash lights (abs or tcs). Restarted car and everything was fine. Car has 128,000 miles.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 05/09/2016

Drivers side door ajar alarm sounds when door closed. The dash shows a picture of the car with the drivers door open. The interior lights stay on, door alarm chimes. The car electrical stability system does not recognize that the door is closed. Been happening for days. Happens as soon as I get in and shut the door. Try several times to close the door hard, softly, quickly, and it stays on more and more. Now the car alarm sounds a couple times a day when car is parked and off.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

-passenger door, rear passenger door, and hatch door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. -interior light stays on -alarms goes off in the middle of the night -faulty latch -ignition key switch dings until I put key in and turn key back and forth and then take out again. Dome light stays on and creates a night driving hazard. Creates a safety hazard when the dome lights stays on and I am sitting in a public area at night. False door ajar signal prevents me from recognizing a real door ajar situation, which is very dangerous. Doors sometimes may or may not not lock, nor will the trunk open sometimes- causing a safety hazard/possible dangerous situation when I am trying to get my groceries out of the trunk at night. These same issues happened to our vehicle in 2013, 2014, 2015, and now again in 2016.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 02/25/2016

The doors are always saying they are ajar and they are not. I have taken it to the dealership they took out one sensor on my door and then after that two others went off and now they continue to go off. My lights will stay on for about 10 minutes and they will finally shut off and sometimes they shut off turn back on and then my alarm goes off in the middle of the night most of the time. I'll shut it off lock it make sure all the doors are locked and then I will go back out and the alarms are going back off. Again all the doors are shut the car's been sitting there for probably about 3 to 4 hours and I'm pretty sure that the lights keep going on and off after a while the alarm starts going off. It is draining my battery my battery is going bad because of it I don't know what else to do. I need this fixed. I work at the hospital and we have to park our cars a couple miles away so if my cars going off I have no idea there has been several times that I have had to get my car boosted because my battery was dead.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 11/05/2015

Both passenger door ajar sensors are malfunctioning keeping the interior lights on which is draining battery. Lights will not go off until a certain speed is reached while driving. (clearly a safety issue!!!) also alarm keeps going off randomly and the frequency is increasing.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

Ford Flex 2013 door ajar light remains illuminated after doors are shut. After several attempts at closing door tightly and door appears firmly shut, the light still indicates open. Also, doors do not auto lock when car is parked for some time and doors do not auto lock while driving. Very dangerous safety issue with children traveling with me everyday in the back seats. I hate to think what might happen if I have an accident and the air bags don¿t deploy because the sensors indicate the door is open. My car has 28,000 miles ¿ well under the factory warranty of 36,000 but Ford will not cover the replace part because I am second owner with the car having pasted it¿s 3yr marker. This is a well known issue for Ford and should be handled as a safety recall.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

While accelerating from a stop with the ecoboost system , the car will almost stall, then speed up with out your foot on the pedal. It blows black smoke and then it will be fine. This has happened on and off for the past several months, the car had an extended warranty in which this showed up. While this was going on I have had to replace the power transfer unit because it locked up, then the car would only work in front wheel drive, have had nothing but trouble since the car radiator fan system burned up and they replaced. They have re-flashed modules after they could not figure out what was happening, however it still does it. I am worried as the car has speed up to 2000 rpm while driving and stayed there with out the gas pedal being pressed.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

These same issues happened to our vehicle in 2013, Jan. 2014, Aug 2014, and now in 2015.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Upon acceleration, usually from a complete stop such as accelerating from a stop sign or on a green light, it feels as though the gears do no catch & the car jerks and the rpm's raise but the car stops accelerating. Will also have a "stuttering" or "jerking" while at a complete stop with break pedal being pressed down. I have taken this issue to the dealership as it is still under extended warranty and have been told that everything checked out normal & the mechanic at the dealership was unable to get the vehicle to have such described malfunctions because it is doesn't happen every single time the car is driven. The jerking while driving actually occurs on a daily basis but is sporadic & can jerk you forward due to the sudden loss of acceleration capability, startling and painful because the seatbelt mechanism has engaged in the past.
