The car started jerking and slowing down on the highway and would not accelerate. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and had the car towed to a service center. A repair shop did a print out of the error codes from the computer which indicated an error relating to the power steering control module. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Flex. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle independently accelerated instead of stopping. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
My Flex has repeatedly lost power while driving. I can feel the car lose power, and the yellow wrench light comes on. After reading up on it, I learned that you have to turn the vehicle off, wherever you are, and restart it after a few minutes. The wrench light turns off, and the car runs as normal, with no records of codes. This is talked about over and over in online forums. The safety issue is that it has happened on the freeway several times while traveling at a high rate of speed. The car loses power, and you cannot accelerate. You have to find a way to stop immediately, put the car in park (and listen to the transmission clunk) and turn it off. This last instance put me in harms way on the freeway. The car lost power while traveling 70mph. I immediately lost speed and had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to pull over to turn the car off. All of the forums talk about the throttle body, but everyone says that’s not the issue. The oss and tss sensors are also discussed. The dealerships cannot find out what’s wrong because once the car is turned off and restarted, any codes are erased. The issue persists, and the car keeps losing power wherever and whenever. I am referencing the most recent incident on this form, however, this has happened at least 12 times since September, 2020. Please, please force a recall on this issue!.

My vehicle has 188,000 miles on it and is an awd model. It has always, until the last two oil changes every 3000 miles, been serviced by the Ford dealership and the car was bought from (leo caytes Ford). The rpms skyrocket to 3000 - 4000 rpms when the car is controlled by speed control suddenly, but the car doesn't speed up. When the speed control is released, the rpms drop to the normal setting for that speed. This doesn't happen every time the speed control is used, but, much more frequently as of late. The front awd mechanism (between the front wheels - ptu????) is leaking and the oil has shavings and "different colors" in the fluid. And, on occasion the left interior front light ( by the rear view mirror) will turn on by itself. These are recent events and I love my Flex and would buy another one if I could afford to do so. It has really given me no problems for the most part, and I would say, "its the best car I've ever owned, foreign or domestic!!!! also, on most occasions, there has always, from the beginning of ownership - bought new - been a problem in the winter that when the car is stationary (parked or at a light) with the heat on, it blows cold air! the dealer has tried to fix the problem several times, but, to no avail. As soon as the car moves, heat functions ok!.
Service advancetrac and collision warning not available notifications present when driving, specifically occurring when turning. Ford dealership indicated the power steering control module (pscm) was detecting a motor position sensor fault and recommended replacement of electronic steering gear. I spoke with Ford customer service and the grand ledge michigan Ford dealership regarding recall safety recall 15s18 and both indicated that my VIN was not included in the recall. I would like to find out if my VIN may have been improperly excluded from the recall if the recall states Ford Flex models 2011-2013 assembled in oakville for all engines.

I was driving in the highway going about 65 mph when without warning I started loosing speed and ended going 20mph. I was able to pull of to the shoulder and notice a wrench icon appear in the dash before the car lost power. It was an extremely scary situation and I was thankful I was able to get to the shoulder of the highway without any incident. I towed it to my Ford dealer which is still there being diagnose. I don't know what happen but I believe its a defection because nothing was done to cause it. These is a very dangerous defection and can cause the life of the driver and passangers. I want to make the Ford company aware of this situation and demand it takes action before a tragedy happens. I hope my Ford Flex is fixed but I will never feel fully safe in this vehicle again. I never knew that manufactures would be careless enough to place these defective cars on the road and now I am stuck with one. Please have a recall of these Ford vehicles before lives are lost.
Throttle body issues 1) vehicle was in motion on city street - attempted to accelerate and experienced loss of power. Managed to coast to a side street. Turned off engine, restarted few times and continued to work without issue. (below is same day) 2) vehicle was in motion, accelerating to merge onto state highway. Experienced sudden loss of power and managed to get to shoulder of highway. Turned vehicle off, restarted several times and eventually made it to dealership.
My Flex started having a hard jerk and bang when going from reverse to park. Was not always but frequent. The car started to run hot when sitting in a drive thru or traffic but would go right back down when I started moving. I took it into s mechanic and he replaced the fan. After replacing the fan the car began to have a really bad grinding noise when idling or traveling. Do bad I did not want to drive it. I took it into the Ford dealership and after 2 days they call and say they can't find anything wrong. Within 4 minutes I get another call daying I need a new transmission. The car would eccellerate on its own, shut off intermittently, and car would lag between 3rd and 4th gears. Ford dealership advised me to have a knew transmission put in. Car will shift properly most of the time even on highway. Only get whining noise at low speeds. I was also in an accident causing $13000. 00 worth of damage to front end and airbags did not deploy after hitting a car doing 35 mph.
2010 Ford Flex. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle throttle problems. The consumer stated the vehicle would accelerate on its own, which then caused the vehicle to go into safe mode. The vehicle immediately slowed down and would not go above 10 mph or it shut off completely. Ford informed the consumer, the fix would cost $550.
Driving stopped at a stop sign noticed the wrench light on (happens often while this happens will not accelerate like normal until it hits 2-3rd gear). I press the gas to accelerate after making the turn I had to make another turn about 1/4 mile up the street. I released the gas to make the turn but my car kept accelerating it was not going very fast but the engine was accelerating pushing the rpms up to 6000. My foot was not on the gas and nothing was pressing the gas no floor mat or items in the way of the pedals. I pressed on the break (with the engine still accelerating) put the car into neutral and pulled over. Turned the engine off and restarted the car. The car ran fine after restarted it. No check engine light was on at any point just the wrench light. The light did go off after I restarted the car. I drove it about another 40 miles since this has happened and has not recurred since. I did have the car taken in to check the codes at about 90k miles (without the wrench light because it goes off as soon as you restart the car) nothing came up for codes.
While driving 30 mph the car simply dies. All lights come on and the car just shuts off. Left with no brakes, steering, or control. Dealer brought in engineer, after a week with the car dealer cannot replicate problem. Ford motor company decides nothing is wrong and force me to take dangerous car back. Incident occurred twice in the month of April/may.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Flex. While driving at 35 mph, the vehicle began to lose power and stalled. The contact was able to move the vehicle off the roadway and restart the engine. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the dealer found the throttle body had become defective. The throttle was repaired accordingly and the vehicle was left with the dealer for further diagnosis of any additional failures. The failure and current mileages were 3,100.
