I received a notice of recall from Ford in October 2016 (door latch). I attempted to get my scheduled for repairs and was told that they did not have the parts, but when they have parts they would contact me. I took my vehicle in for scheduled maintenance (and some other issues) Feb/March. 2017 and asked that they repair my vehicle for this same recall. Again, told they did not have parts, but would let us know when they did. I made an appointment with the dealership (again) for August 2017 to have vehicle looked at for warranty work and have the recall fixed. When I picked up the vehicle I was told they still did not have parts, but should have them next week (current week) and will call when they come in and I can get it fixed. I have received at least 2 letters from Ford stating I need to get this recall fixed; but, the dealership (same one each time) does not call when part comes in and has failed to repair my vehicle after multiple attempts. Dealership: marshall Ford in ofallon, mo 63366.
Left rear door will not close and latch. I can pull door open without pulling handle. I also get warning for driver side rear door ajar. I noticed it ajar when I walked by it and tried to close it. It would not latch and stay closed.
Went to run some errands and when I got back in my vehicle"passenger rear door" alarm kept beeping. Door does not stay closed.
I went to get my oil changed someplace other than my Ford dealership and since, the car has been running oddly. Mostly issues with accelerating after sitting at a red light on roads where the speed is anywhere from 35 to 45 mph. It doesn't happen all the time, but I noticed it about a week after the oil change. The other issue, that is more cause for alarm, is that the doors will not close completely. First it was the passenger front door, then the passenger rear door and finally the driver rear door. All while stationary, thank goodness. Since then, all but the driver's side front door have been secured with bungee cords for the last few weeks, because I did not have the funds to replace the door latches. One of which had been replaced only last year and cost me nearly $500 because the part hadn't been on recall! I then found out today that there is a recall on said parts that began in January 2017 but I have yet to be notified by my dealership! I only noticed because I wanted to see -if- there had been a recall due to hearing about a few other people having this same type of issue. See photos of bungee corded doors. This is extremely dangerous and those who own this same model of car should be notified immediately of a recall, not when parts are available. I would never have known had I not thought of doing my own research. I may never had known if I was waiting on my dealership to notify me. . . I may have been seriously injured or worse if I had waited on them.
Ford is a manufacturer that needs to be under a microscope. This is the second for vehicle I own that opens a door on us while driving.
Having issues with car being repaired. Door handle latch is broken and I am currently using wire to assure it stays closed. Experiencing this for 5+ months now. Service station would not fix for free at first because an "official" recall was not issues, even though this was an extremely common issue with this cars year, one that I was unaware of. Once I received the recall notice they canceled my initial appointment due to backup. They rescheduled my appointment for July of this year. Extremely dangerous scenario and the manufacturer is unwilling to expedite my services. Is there any course of action to take?.
There is a current recall for my door latch. My door has now stopped latching. I called the dealer when I received my recall notice and was told there were no parts available and that I would receive a call when the parts were available. This was 4 months ago. Now that my door will not latch I am told that I can bring it in, but they do not have parts, cannot guarantee a loaner, and that I have to sign a waiver stating I will pay $180 for an inspection if it is not part of the recall. I am very disappointed and unwilling to possibly pay for them to inspect my vehicle. I also have an issue with my transmission while driving. Once my car still showed in drive, but was in neutral while I was driving at 40 mph with cars behind me. I had to pull to the side of the road and place the car in park and back into drive. I have had 2 similar incidents since then, though the car still worked, but felt like I was grinding my gears. All were on city streets, luckily not the highway.
My son got into an accident with his 2012 Ford Focus hatchback and his airbags did not deploy none whatsoever he ended up with bruise shoulders his friend with a scraped knee his car a total loss but none of his airbags deployed.
My last report was on the affects of the tcm failure and the computer failures of the engine, wipers and not being able to start the car. As I continued to observe the continued issues of the Ford Focus, I now have a problems with the doors. The doors are not unlocking. Some will unlock and some will remain lock. At this point with the mileage at 73400 the problems with the Ford Focus is not going away. I still owe money on the vehicle and I can't drive it any more because of the safety issues it has. 1. Tcm 2. Shutting down without notice 3. Jerking back when initiating park 4. Wipers going on without notice 5. Engine shutting down when in drive.
My wife got in the car in our driveway and the drivers side door wouldn't latch closed. I tried to remove the latch assembly and gave up hours later. After I put the door panel back together I checked the right front door to make sure I had the trim panel on correctly. When I tried to close that door it wouldn't latch either. When I put the VIN in on your web site the only response I got was: "foreign server responded with an error. ".
My vehicle has been in for service 3 times this year alone for the same transmission issue. Every time I go in they adjust something or replace a small part, but never completely fix the problem. It shudders, hesitates, bucks, and kind of stalls because the transmission is trying to shift or making grinding noises. It can do it speeding up or slowing down or in the middle of the drive, it is unpredictable. I have had the transmission also over heat and tell me to pull over on large busy roads and have a loss of power when not stopping fast enough. It is scary when my car is shuddering going no where and I am in the middle of traffic or going through an intersection with my 2 kids in the car. Fords response is to continue driving the car, some times they say it is within specs and sometimes they say that I have to drive it while I wait for parts to come in, which are usually back ordered. The service adviser told me herself that she wouldn't drive the car but I am expected to drive it because they can not give me a loaner and they have no parts to fix my car, and even when they do "fix it" the same problem starts again within a couple months. I think they are just waiting and riding it out until the warranty runs out on it. Now to top it off there is also a recall on the door latches where the doors can just open and they also do not have those parts. It is an unsafe car and a horrible experience that I am going through.
I purchased my 2012 Ford Focus in July of 2016 with 29,000 miles on it and I was aware of the transmission problems when purchased. However was not notify about my door latches unable to close. Apparently October 3, 2016 Ford decided to send out a recall letter claiming that my doors won't close while driving or just won't close. Asked me to take my car to the nearest dealership to get my car repaired. My back driver door just stopped closing completely, I damaged my side of the door from stopping the door from coming open. My nearest dealership told me that parts weren't available for my car and that I'll have to wait until next year to get my car fixed. I begged them to do at least something to keep my car doors close and they tied my seatbelt to my back car door to prevent the door from opening. However my front passenger door still opened and stayed open randomly which cause a few of my friends to fall out of it! my car was like that for about three months. Then they finally "fixed" it by putting replacement parts on it until the actual parts become available sometime this year. My front passenger door is even worst than before. Usually it takes me slamming the door three times before it closed, but now it takes more than three times and I have to slam harder!!! I've had enough of dealing with this car, I think it shouldn't be doing that when it was almost new!!!! also they still won't do anything with the transmission because of the "parts" which I think there's not going to be any parts. I don't even know what I purchased, if my transmission doesn't work or my doors don't close how can anyone considering this a car?!?! what did I buy?!?! this is outrageous!!! I don't know if one day if my front driving door will come open and I'll be flying out somewhere dead on the highway. I just don't feel safe and I wish someone would do something about this!.
I received notification of a recall on door latches that need to be replaced. It also stated that a reimbursment for a replacement is also included and will take 60 days to process. Once I received my letter I sent in the paperwork for reimbursment of a left rear door latch assembly along with the original receipt. I have yet to receive my check for the work done. It is now 30 days over the date that the documents were mailed in on October 20th, 2016. Jay stouse.
Frond driver side door refuses to stay shut due to the door latch not operating properly. . I. E. , the door does not remain latch/locked. Problem appears to be with the latch. Some how the latch has corrected itself in the past. Problem has now return.
I received a safety recall 16s30 letter from Ford on 10/6/2016. I called my local Ford dealer & was told they do not have a remedy for the side door latch problem & to call back in April, may or June of 2017. Letter says if there are symptoms to call my dealer for diagnosis & repair. I do not know what symptoms are, & how can they repair if parts are not available until next year? now I'm afraid to drive for myself and my passengers. Not enough specific info provided. Recall causes more fright than if I didn't even know about the problem to begin with.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the door sensor illuminated indicating that the rear passenger side door was opened. The contact discovered that the door had erroneously opened and could no longer be secured and locked. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. Jft.
Recall on the door latches. My drivers side back door will not close and latch. I have contacted the dealership. They've ordered an emergency replacement but saying it's going to be 2-3 weeks before it arrives. At this point I'm driving with my back door literally tied closed. Since it won't latch the door open alarm is dinging constantly when driving. My complaint is first of all if Ford knew this why aren't replacement parts available? second of all I feel like they should be responsible for getting me in a car that is safe while waiting on parts to become available.
My wife's 2012 Ford Focus sel driver side rear door won't close. My wife was driving to work on a blvd. Going straight and the car computer started to ding ding ding. . . The message stated the driver side rear door was open, now the door won't stay closed. We keep the rear door closed with bungee cords now. Luckily she didn't didn't have a rear seat passenger at the time. There seems to be a disconnect between the brain and the body when talking about Ford customer service, Ford recall hq. , and my local Ford dealer. It all sounds good on the phone but the rubber ain't meeting the road on anything actually getting done. Anything.
The rear door swung open when driving. Will not latch back close.
The door on the front passenger side of my 2012 Ford Focus suddenly opened while the vehicle was in motion nearly causing an accident. I was travelling on the highway at approx. 50 mph when the front passenger side door sprung open causing the vehicle travelling next to me to swerve away. The week before the front driver side door open unexpectedly.
Ford recall#16s30 - its a safety recall on my car for door latch replacement. Its been a few months the recall was issued but upon checking with Ford, I am hearing that there are no parts available and it won't be available till mid of year 2017. Since its a serious manufacturer safety recall so I am excessively concerned for my and my family's safety here. Requesting NHTSA immediate intervention here to help me expediting the resolution of this issue. I would like to get this fixed at the earliest. Please help. . Thank you!.
Aug 2015 - drivers door flung open while making a turn. . . Unable to close door and had to tie shut to get car to dealer, car had 88k miles. Dealer determined latch was defective and replaced it under extended warranty - customer pay deductible. Repaired at jordan Ford in san antonio TX, Aug 2015, work order #90121 29 Aug 2016, same car, front passenger door flung open during slow speed left turn, luckily no passenger in car, car had 105k miles. Door would not shut and was tied shut and taken to dealer who stated latch was broken and had to be replaced $780 cost as car was outside 100k mileage on extended warranty. Same dealer used for repairs, work order number unavailable as car is still being repaired.
The front passenger side door opened while driving and will not latch closed. The local dealer reports door latch failure as the cause. This is a major safety issue that has already been recalled on other models (fiesta, fusion, etc). Ford motor company should also recall this part on the 2012 Focus model as it's an obvious major safety issue as the door will open while driving.
The door latch on the front driver's side door is broken and will not allow the door to close. I cannot lock the car door or shut it. When I attempt to close the door it "pops" back open. The incident occurred while the vehicle was in motion on a city street while turning. I was driving and the door suddenly opened by itself when making a turn, due to the broken latch.
While driving on I-75 from atlanta to tampa my driver side door just flew open while I was doing about 70mph. Thankfully nobody was next to me at the time and I had twine in my car to tie the door shut.
Car door randomly stopped latching. Second time this has happened, once in motion and once not in motion. Terrifying and frustrating experience. One repair has been done so far, costing 450 dollars. Huge safety hazzard, especially due to the randomness of it.
While I was backing out of my parking space my passenger door had swung open.
I was driving through an intersection making a left tun when all of a sudden my drivers side passenger door flew open. My dog was in his crate in the back seat and almost flew out. I pulled over and could not get the door to latch. I've had to tie it down because I can not afford $600 to pay to get this fixed. Please Ford recall this model so I don't have to drive around in this dangerous vehicle.
Car front driver door won't latch, it happened when I was driving in the highway when my driver door just widely opened in the middle of the highway at 65 miles an hour!!! Ford issued a recall for the specific model but my VIN number is not included for the recall! it's very dangerous and unsafe, I feel in danger when I need to hold the door when driving because the door opens wide when I make a right turn.
Door latch on both front and rear doors fails to operate. Doors cannot close.
Driver's front door inoperable, won't latch at all. Door remains unlatched, even when car is in motion (forward or reverse) after all other doors latch/lock automatically. Driving the vehicle became unsafe, since the door can/will swing outward into oncoming traffic, that became a high risk for an accident. Door had to be tied manually, to keep it from opening, while driving the vehicle to the dealership for repairs.
Driver side rear door latch failed while pulling out of my driveway. The left rear door open light illuminated and the door swung open. Tried to close door but the door will not latch close leaving vehicle non operable. Ford says my VIN is not covered in the attached recall notice, although it meets all criteria of notice. Also local Ford dealer was not able procure new part because of availability. Customer service just said they were sorry. I now have an inoperable vehicle and by every indication it should be covered under this warranty. Other wise it will cost me over $400. 00 to have this fixed if they ever are able to get the part.
On two separate occasions the door latches (rear passenger and rear driver side) on the vehicle became stuck open/locked. One occurrence resulted in the passenger rear door fully opening while making a right turn the other incident (8/24/2016) involved not being able to close the rear driver side door, latch was stuck in the lock position and would not allow for full closure.
My door latch stopped working on my front driver's side door, seemingly out of nowhere. I noticed the issue when I had parked at work and the door was not staying shut after locking it.
Today I was going home from work and my door opened and closed way too fast but I thought nothing of it so I just kept driving. As I drove off the door swings open on me. Well I stopped to take a look at all of my doors and then the back drivers door jammed on me and wouldn't close. So I tied a rope to the door to hold it tight and I held the font drivers door as I drove home for 1 hour! I managed to unjam the back door but my car is unable to close in the front so now I have to worry about a dead battery in the morning. When I called Ford they told me I have to pay out of pocket because there is no recall for my car when I have seen this complaint for over 400,000 Ford Focus cars! I live in florida how am I suppose to get to work in this heat? how am I to trust Ford if they wont even help me. I need answers my car in unsafe right now.
