The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact the extended warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
I'm still making payments on my 2012 Ford Focus se. 3 days after buying it the check engine light came on said catalyst coverter is plugged up. Now the transmission is missing up. It has never one time passed the emissions control test since owning it. There isn't a day that goes by that this car hasn't throw me a different code from the check engine light. I got screwed. The car isn't safe to drive idk how many time my daughter and I have almost got hit because of the car not moving when giving the gas too it. I took it to the Ford dealership to get all my recalls done and they only did 1 recall and that was the tcm. They said that would fix the transmission problem im having. What lies.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 45-60 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to wray Ford (2851 benton rd, bossier city, la 71111, (318) 686-7300) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired that however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the fuel tank was replaced but no further assistance was provided. The contact stated that there was a discrepancy with repairs. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall and that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was 121,000.
I received a recall for the canister purge valve. I took it in to a dealership last year and was told it was fixed. Now my check engine light is on and it the dealership tells me it was tested and their was no issue, so they cannot do anything now. My vehicle could stall and not crank back and Ford refuses to fix a faulty part they had a recall on?.
The check engine light comes on and the car will shudder. Have had times where the car had trouble pulling through a not so steep driveway. Have driven it on streets and highways (not very long). Sometimes it is on for a few days then the next day the light will turn off and drive alright. Was told the tcm (total control module needs to be replaced). Have had issues with the clutch assembly which I needed to completely replace as it was falling apart.
I was driving about 40 mph on a city street when the warning message "transmission not in park" flashed and the speedometer went to zero. I pulled over and put the car in park and everything shut off. I was able to restart the car. I have had all factory recalls replaced and most recently the catalytic converter replaced as well. The check engine light or any other warning lights were not on when this occurred.
Recall 18s32. Brought the vehicle in to dealership on 9-8-19 when I received the recall notice. I was told that software needed to be updated. At that point, we had not experienced any of the symptoms of the recall. I was told that there was a check to see if the software needed to be updated and it did not. On 10-9-19 while my daughter was driving the vehicle, the gas gauge went up to full (it was only 1/2 full) check engine light was on (it has consistently been on for weeks) and most importantly and most frightening is the vehicle completely shut off while she was driving 65 mph on a highway. All of these things that occured are directly what the recall is for. Although my daughter was driving on a hightway , thankfully she was not hit or killed by other drivers and did not crash the vehicle. Now because the vehicle was initially brought in before any symptoms and Ford determined no software update was needed, they are denying to replace the canister purge valve which is what we were told by the dealership needed to be done. The vehicle cannot be driven now because of the fear of putting whomever drives it in danger. Not only is this is unacceptable but I am very frustrated and feel that this safety issue should be addressed by Ford immediately. There is also a recall (recall #19s22) stating dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. I have tried to get this addressed not only through Ford's customer service directly but by speaking to the service manager at the dealership where the car was bought and serviced. Seems like this is not an urgent matter for anyone but us. I do have a case number that was assigned by Ford which cas-24503630-j8w6y7.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated she had her vehicle serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) at local dealer star Ford Lincoln located at 1101 s brand blvd, glendale, CA 91204, (818) 956-0977. The contact stated the day she picked up the vehicle after recall repairs, the ignition failed to start and the dealer was able to recharge the battery. The contact stated she was able to drive to her residence. The contact stated 2 days later while driving 25 mph, when depressing the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she replaced the battery. The vehicle was taken to local dealer and the contact was unaware of the diagnoses. The manufacturer has not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 118,834. Dp.
19s22 recall. I was driving home from port huron to clinton township. My car went from 70 mph hour on the freeway to 35 mph. Absolutely no warning. I cannot accelerate more than 35 mph. The very next morning I brought my car into the Ford dealership at 9 mile in harper because the same problem had occurred months before in may. I told her that same thing happened before my car is not accelerating my rpm shot up and I cannot go anywhere so she asked me to bring it in I did I asked her about the outstanding recall on the car she told me that her guys forgot to look at it. Ford had my car for a week I lost my job and I also do lift on the side so I'm out $1200 just in the week. They called me, and said itll cost around $2k for the clutch system. That's funny because I don't use the manual side of the car but apparently it's built into the transmission. So again I asked about the recall. It clearly states on your website that if Ford has to do the recall and there's any other repairs that need to be done with for the cause of all of this that the parts and labor are free. They charged my dad's credit card $1938. 78. I asked her again but there was a recall down on the car she said OH well we did the recall and that was for the purge valve I said ok well where is that located she told me was in the engine so you didn't do the recall 1st you just went straight for the clutch? then you're telling me that had nothing to do with it well how do we know now after he took the 2000 and even admitted that you didn't do the recall 1st gear went straight to the clutch system so if you wouldn't did the recall 1st I wouldn't have been out $2000 if you just did your job. Then I pick up the car. And the same thing happened again, and the check engine light came on. So again I had to drop it off.
Canister purge valve recall (cpv) and prior powertrain and pcm recall issues. History involving powertrain, pcm and cpv. Check engine light (cel) came on a few years ago and the car could not restart. Could have had an accident. Recently, in the summer 2019, cel on and gave a code about faulty catalytic converter when I spent $106 at green Ford to read and diagnosis the code. The light went on and off and on September 8, 2019, the car stalled and/or would not start back up many times when the cel was on. The car would not crank the next morning, twice, on the way to green Ford, and waiting on recall to be performed. The car has 151,000 miles and is a one owner vehicle. The powertrain, pcm and this current issue has been the only issues that seems to be connected.
We purchased a 2012 Focus for our 18 year old daughter as her first car. The check engine light is illuminated and the car shudders as you accelerate like its shifting gears but it's a very aggressive jerk. Once it reaches certain speed it drives smoothly but if you stop at a red light or stop sign and accelerate again it does the same thing. The fault code for the check engine light states it's a catalytic converter problem. I did some online research and found a recall for what I thought was the cause of the issue (recall 18s32). Took it into the dealership to have the recall repaired and they reset the pcm but tech told me the gas tank "passed inspection" so no further repairs were needed. However, the car still shudders at acceleration. I was told I'd have to pay $135 for them to diagnose the problem. I am so afraid for my daughter who is a fairly new driver to be driving this unsafe vehicle. I will be searching for a class action lawsuit as I've read several complaints of the same issue on this website. I don't feel comfortable selling this car to anyone else with these problems either. Ford really needs to rectify this problem immediately before someone gets hurt or worse, dies! the car has 101,000 miles on it.
Accelerating from a stop, suddenly check engine light came on, engine rpm's race with no vehicle speed increase.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While starting and turning the heater on a abnormal odor of fuel was detected. The check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to houston Ford 10719 william penn hwy, huntingdon, PA 16652 (814) 643-3430 where diagnosed that the fuel valve and reprogramming was needed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 71,000. Ap.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Focus 2012. The contact stated that while driving and when going up a hill the vehicle jerk then stalled. The vehicle also hesitates to go forward. The vehicle would jerk forward and backward then stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The technician referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,347. Aw.
I have a 2012 Ford Focus titanium hatchback. I took my car into bob tomes Ford for a shuttering problem and was told to wait and see to continue to drive the car. Months later I had the tcm replace and now my clutch is out. These were all issues at the time I originally brought my car into Ford. After the tcm was replace I tried to pick up my car from bob tomes Ford service center and the service team could not start my car or get it in gear( yet somehow they "test drove" it). My car has stalled in the middle of intersections, my check engine light has come, my transmission is overheating and asking me to pull over and wait 5 minuets. This is extremely dangerous as I am a mother and have up to 3 children with me at one time. I can not trust my car to get me from a to b safely. My car dies randomly when it wants to. My car is now completely undriveable. I am still paying on this car and I can not even drive it! I need something to be done about this ASAP. This is absolutely terrifying that Ford is allowed to sell cars knowing the transmission is faulty before they were on the market.
2012 Ford Focus. Consumer writes in regards to fuel vapor system safety recall. The consumer stated the check engine light was illuminated. The dealership charged for a recall repair that should have been free. The dealership informed the consumer the repair was previously completely and was tested to be sure it had not failed, which it had not. The consumer requested to be reimbursed for the diagnostic fee.
Takata recall after I went to a gas station and fill my tank up with gas drive about 2 miles the car start to stall in the middle of the street with me almost cause me to be in and accident luckily I pull to the side to avoid that then the check engine light came on suggesting I check fuel componet and service engine.

The check engine light will not turn off, the door sensors keep ringing, and the transmission does not shift properly amd rools backwards when I apply the brakes.
Ford Focus transmission module regulator recall. I have had to take my vehicle to the dealer 5 times for issues that I feel are related to this matter. In April, I was driving when I lost total power of my car and then it lurched forward as the rpm's ran over the top. I drove it approximately 5 miles to my home where I had it picked up and towed to larry hill Ford, cleveland, TN. I had the check engine light on again last week and drove there and they told me it was fine to drive while they ordered a part. Today, I stalled out completely while accelerating on 25th street (on my lunch hour). I had to call a tow for the 2nd time. I believe my safety to be in question as I continue to drive this car and Ford does not fix the issue nor have they offered me any type of buyout or trade or compensation for the constant problems not even related to my safety while driving.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the spouse was driving at 40 mph, when the check engine light illuminated as the vehicle started to shutter and stalled. The vehicle was towed to koons falls church Ford 1051 e broad st, falls church, va 22044 (703) 241-7200, where it was diagnosed with the fuel tank shrunk and was not getting proper amount of fuel to operate the vehicle. The fuel tank and purge valve needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned that the dealer informed him that the transmission module was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact stated that the manufacturer made him aware that the vehicle has no warranty for the fuel tank. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
My car is in the fourth time for transmission related issues. Also this time the check engine light came on. Bill brown Ford in livonia mi diagnosed the problem as a failing catalytic converter. This is a known problem with the Focus, but Ford hasn't done anything about it. I've researched the issue on line and there are many complaints about the catalytic converter. I also have a friend who is a mechanic at a Ford dealership and he said Ford is quite aware of the problem. Two years ago I was almost rear ended when the car suddenly went out of gear and the check engine light came on and flashed a warning. Ford replaced the tcu. The car is now hesitating again along with shuttering when accelerating.
My wife traded in her 2009 taurus for a new 2012 Focus sedan back in April 2012 at green Ford. A month or so after getting the Focus, it had a transmission fluid leak. Green Ford fixed the problem. In mid-2015 we started to notice transmission issues like erratically shifting in second and third gear, very sluggish shift between low gears and that the upshift bags down like the vehicle might stall, bucking, kicking, jerking, harsh engagement, delayed acceleration and lurching forward into intersections at red lights due to the failure of their braking efforts to stop the car. We took it to green Ford on 9/18/2015. They stating that it was working as designed. However, for a precaution, they said they reprogrammed the powertrain control module (pcm) and the transmission control module (tcm). However, it was a recall issue for that stated problem/s. In the official service history for the Ford owner's records, there is no mention of the safety recall done on my Focus, just the routine maintenance and a mileage of over 96,000 miles on the Focus at the time. Jump forward to a year later, on Friday, sept. 9, 2016, at 2pm, my wife was traveling in a 45 mph speed zone when the car's check engine light came. Seconds later, the Ford started to stall and have power issues, causing her to find the next side road to pull over. The car completed stalled and could not turn over. After 2 towing events, from the breakdown location to thomas tire, thomas to stearns Ford, and sitting over the weekend, on sept. 9, we found out it was the recall tcm that broke. The tcm was in back order until October 28, 2016. Stearns Ford sent me to enterprise where they paid for a Ford rental. The only Ford on the rental lot was the transit 250 or 350 van (very low mpg). I had to pay for the liability insurance coverage daily. After the 3rd day, I borrowed a family member's car.
Vehicle in motion driving about 60-65mph on the highway, the check engine light turned on the dashboard. Vehicle could not accelerate felt as if on neutral. I began to lose speed and had the fortune no incoming vehicles were behind me. I shut the car off once on the side of the road. Vehicle after being off for 15 minutes was able to drive but reverse gear was none functional.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v331000 (latches/locks/linkages) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while at a stop light, the vehicle jerked with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics however, the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 12,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While driving my 2012 Ford Focus hatchback, the check engine light came on and the vehicle idled rough and the engine stopped working. Restarted and took vehicle to dealer. Dealer stated that the emissions control system had pulled a vacuum on the fuel tank causing raw fuel to enter the emissions control system and the engine causing the issues. The tank had to be replaced due to collapse and the evap tank, tubing, control valve and fuel pump. Per Ford TSB 11-09-03. Shouldn't this be a recall?.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while making a left or right turn the vehicle would stalled. The check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that purge valve not opening properly, the fuel pump and purge valve, purge tank and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v605000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47000. Aw.
After driving for 40 mins, the check engine light came on. I was in stop and go traffic and from stop (0 mph) to 30 mph the transmission would downshift violently and stall. I would give it gas, but the car would not move and the engine would rev up and lunge forward violently causing cars to almost hit me in the rear. I put in a similar complaint a few years ago about a shuttering when accelerating from a stop after 40 + mins of driving. This is unacceptable for a car company to allow this car out on the streets.
While driving the check engine light turned on, the shift display started blinking (so the "d" was flashing) and then the vehicle slowed to a stop where it was turned off. Vehicle would not turn on again. The next day it started, and after inspection by retailer autozone read tcm module issue. Vehicle had a full tank of gas, recent oil change, and had battery replaced with new one as recommended. Following battery replacement the vehicle again slowed to a stop with shift and check engine light illuminated. Towed to Ford dealership where a software update was done and told it would function properly. Approx 30 miles later the vehicle again came to a stop, but the check engine light did not illuminate, only the gear it was in blinked. Told by separate Ford dealership that the tcm module needs replacement. Prior to software update check engine light would go on, but after that it would not but the vehicle did continue to come to a stop. Could rev the engine but to no avail. Stopping incidents occurred several times within a few days. Very dangerous when driving on highway or street as the 2012 Ford Focus se stops within a few minutes of alerting the driver to issue and will not restart.
Purchased a 2012 Ford Focus in December of 2014. The transmission has had shifting issues almost the entire time that I have had the vehicle. In may, the transmission began stuttering at low speeds. When reaching speed on an interstate on-ramp, the vehicle showed the message "vehicle not in park" and shut off as I was pulling into traffic. A day later when driving it, it stuttered again and the check engine light came on. Took it, along with a defective part notice to the dealer for the automatic transmission clutch system, which the dealer said was the issue and supposedly replaced it under the warranty. The dealer also reset the "autolearn" feature in the transmission. For a few days it worked fine, then the stuttering and shifting issues began again. On August 8th, 2015 the vehicle was driven to the store, and worked as it usually did, with minor stuttering and grinding that appears to characterize the Ford transmission. It was parked for roughly 30 minutes while in the store, upon starting and putting the vehicle in reverse, the transmission would not turn or gain enough power to propel the car out of the parking space. As it rolled back, it was shifted into the drive position, the vehicle began to propel until it went to shift and the car "missed" the gear and stuttered losing all momentum. This continued from every start/stop. Stopped at another store, when came back out the car would not start on the first crank, and the check engine light came back on. The power issues to the transmission on take off and the missing gears continued all the way to my home.
First incident traveling approximately 45 mph, as automatic transmission shifts gears, the transmission slips out of gear. Shifting to neutral and back into gear does not work. Pulled vehicle onto the shoulder, put into park, turn off the engine. Engine will not start, no crank. Let vehicle sit for a minute, retry starting, vehicle runs normally. Next incident around 2 weeks later. Similar experience, but travelling approx 75 mph on highway. Required to pull over, restart vehicle. Check engine light on at restart and engine running at lower rpm than normal in all gears. Vehicle rests overnight, runs normally with no check engine light. Subsequent incidents increase in frequency, without check engine light. Simply need to pull over, restart vehicle. Most frequently occurs while traveling on the highway at higher speeds. 6th or 7th incident, about a month after the initial incident. Check engine light remains on. Vehicle service scheduled but not yet performed due to backlog of transmission service repairs at Ford service center.
