Tank Assembly problems of the 2013 Ford Focus

1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle failed to start-up after several attempts. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. Soon after the check engine warning light illuminated, the vehicle hesitate while depressing the accelerator after coming to a complete stop. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer referred the contact to western slope Ford (2264 us-50, grand junction, CO 81505) where the information provided by the manufacturer was confirmed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the fuel tank vacuum pump was defective. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v515000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a misfire and sputtered. Additionally, the contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle occasionally stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to quick lane at saw grass Ford located at 14501 west sunrise blvd, sunrise FL 33323, where the mechanic performed a software update under NHTSA campaign number: 19v515000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where an additional unknown software update was performed but failed to fix the failure. The contact indicated that the fuel tank was damaged however, the fuel tank was not replaced as stated in the NHTSA campaign. The contact stated that the vehicle also received a fuel system cleaning and a fuel induction injection however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
