36 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

I was driving on the highway and the car just stopped getting gas or responding to me it dropped speed dramatically as a simi was behind me which read oversized load and I was going up hill so I was trying to try my hardest to get in the emergency lane then the engine light popped on fooling a warning of my transmission was hot to stop. I was terrified I had my 2 kids in the back and they were scared also I thought for sure we were going to die that mourning. I'm to scared to drive that car or any other car after going threw that. It's in the shop now but the dearship is already trying to tell me the bill for stuff. I'm confused and vary aggravated thanks to all that I dont know what to do being a single dad trying to do good. This happened on I-25 north bound near highway 66 mead exit. Colorado.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. On several occasions, while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. On another occasion, while attempting to exit from a parking lot the vehicle failed to start. Roadside assistance was contacted and was able to provide a jump start. The vehicle was taken to pacifico Ford (located at 6701 essington avenue, philadelphia, PA 19153, (877) 349-3923) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The transmission control module and transmission clutch needed to also be repaired. The fuel tank and transmission control module were replaced; twice however, the failure recurred. The contact was also informed that it would cost $947 to replace the transmission clutch. The repair was not performed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

While driving in motion, I ramdonly get an alert that there is an engine malfunction, which then causes my car to have very little power when accelerating. If I come to a stop, then give it gas, it goes extremely slow, causing my rpm's to shoot up. My transmission is horrible while shifting. Its sputters, hesitates, jumps, and feels like it cant make up its mind on what gear to go in. And its only gotten worse. Thre has been 3 different occasions where after stopping for gas, or being at work that I have shut my car off, and when I went to start it up again, it wouldnt. It woulndt even turn over. After trying several times, it would finally start. Whatever is causing all of these problems, is also draining my battery as I had to get a new one after just over 2 years. A battery is supposed to last 5 years. Ford said only 3-5 and therefore would not cover it since I was supposedly coming up on the 3rd year. Which I was not. I do not feel safe in this car. And I now have a newly turned 16 y/o daughter whos just is about to learn how to drive. And I should not feel its unsafe for her to have to learn in this vehicle I have a few more years to pay on it and it wouldnt benefit me to sell or trade in at this point. I have attached a picture of the second time I got this engine alert. I can't exactly take a picture of how my car drives or how the transmission shifts. If I can send video's, I'd be happy to do so if it would help.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2019

When accelerating, the vehicle will shake and shudder due to a problem with the dual clutch as described by the manufacturer https://media. Ford. Com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2019/08/14/Ford-statement-on-dps6-customer-satisfaction-actions. Html I have contacted Ford about my issue but they said my vehicle would not be eligible unless the check engine light came on even though I am having the same problems described.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2019

I have a 2014 Ford Focus titanium. My vehicle has just passed the 70,000 mile mark and continues to experience with the transmission to include bucking, kicking, jerking, and delayed acceleration. The vehicle has been in for multiple software updates and a new clutch. The problem continues and I do not believe the company has a solid fix for this. The issues with the transmission are for multiple years within the Focus and fiesta vehicles. Just today, the vehicle lost acceleration as I was going around a turn. Simply put, I do not feel safe in my Ford Focus and I want to know what is being done to resolve this so drivers are safe and secure.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2019

My vehicle is currently in the shop for transmission repair. National news reports that these vehicle models, along with fiesta's have transmission problems that cause shuttering and/or acceleration issues. My vehicle had both these issues, fortunately, I was not killed before I could get it to the shop. My car would accelerate on its own which is absolutely terrifying. I wonder why there is not a safety recall due to this issue? I will now have to pay out of pocket for the repairs.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

My Ford Focus would rev up and down. . . . And when I would hit a speed over 50 mph I couldn't press the gas anymore. I would have to coast to the side of the road because my gas pedal wouldn't take me anywhere. The last time it happened, I almost died. I was pulling out of the gym parking lot and it started acting up again and it stalled in the middle of the road with on coming traffic. The car will stay on but when you press the gas it goes no where. I took it to Ford, and they replaced what they believe is wrong with their current transmission problems. But it still continues to do the same thing. They are not safe cars!!!!.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2019

In the course of less than a month, the car's problem progressed from intermittent starting issues that left me stranded to a full-on failure of the transmission control system. The clutch of the vehicle had been replaced and the transmission repaired in June 2018. On may 30th, 2019, the car was taken in due to transmission starting issues. The lights would turn on when turning the key, but the engine would not crank. The car was returned after the transmission control module was replaced. On June 11, 2019, the car was returned to the dealership for the same issue. Car would not start and took about 50 tries after having been stranded for several hours. Car was returned to me several days later because nothing was found. On June 19, 2019, I was driving down the highway, I was in the left lane going about 60 mph. I tried to accelerate to pass someone, and my car would not accelerate. When I looked down, my check engine light was flashing, my battery light was on, and my oil light was on. The car downshifted and started to rapidly decelerate. Engine shut down, and car was rolling to a stop. I had to rush to the right lane in rush hour traffic, and I managed to roll my way up the exit ramp, where my car shut down completely at the top of the exit ramp. Car would not restart, and I was stranded there for over an hour in a dangerous place and situation. I called a tow, and after trying to start my car intermittently for over an hour, the engine finally started. I drove it straight to the dealership to be checked out again. The same issue with transmission control has persisted, resulting in me having to take the car in on three separate occasions in about two weeks. It started of from intermittent starting issues to the car shutting down completely while traveling at a high speed. This car has done nothing but put me in danger, and I haven't even paid it off yet.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

Car jerks and stalls, outstanding recall, dealership insists that parts are unavailable for repair.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

I was sitting at a stop light and when the light turned green my car wouldn't move, looked down at the spot on the dash where it says what gear you are in and it was flashing. Finally got the car to move into a parking lot. I has it looked at and they said it was fixed. The next day I was driving and it started slipping gears.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

My car has been down for 2 months. I immediately took my car to Ford because it hasn't even been a year since my purchase. After having my car for a week they decided that my car needed a new clutch. Now that I'm reading all of these reviews that are very similar to mine I need answers. My car was shuddering when I first made the purchase, but I was told those types of cars just drive like that. Ford said that my clutch was not covered and I have to pay $2500 to get it fixed. When it's clear that Ford was already having issues with these transmissions. Now I'm stuck between having a repossession or having to come up with $2500 and pay my car note still. This is insane.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

Vehicle shudder problem 2014 Ford Focus se I bought the car from an auction on may 13th, 2019 with slightly more than 78000 miles on the odometer. I could not drive it away because I did not have a second driver and the auction was 1 hour away. I picked up the car two days later. When I put the car in gear and started driving, I immediately noticed the car shuddering/stuttering. This happened every time I came to a stop and tried to accelerate from stop or merge into traffic. The vehicle takes long to accelerate and shakes while trying to pick up speed. I was afraid and still am afraid that it was going to stall. I've since gone online to do some research and I am finding that this seems to be a universal problem for this car. Now, I know auction cars are sold as is, and I understood this when I bid for the car but this seems to be a manufacturer defect that has not been corrected by the manufacturer on many of these cars. The problem in my case is that I bought this car as a surprise for my 16 year-old daughter who is soon going to be 17 and is due to take her road test. With the type of acceleration and stalling issues being reported online, how can Ford not take action to recall/and or fix the problem.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2019

Transmission is sluggish, tugging. . Taking off, not shifting or shift all at once. Even up hill, in traffic. Car speed will take off on its own. Hard to brake. Went down hugh hill, car in control tugging back so hard, the noise was so loud that we thought car was going to blow. 15yr old in car. Dealership had me drive car off lot with a temporary inspection and come back in month. Its not a temporary sticker. I couldn't take car home night I bought it. So all these things happening after taking car off lot. I went back in a couple days later. Told to buy a warranty, they reset the transmission, as if I owned the car for years. This isn't right. They prolonged helping, etc. . . Even asked for my car back. Then thrown in my face that it was at auction. Nobody was helping. Send letters, did a survey, calling, dropping in, etc. . . I documented everything. I need help!! this is a dangerous lemon and they took advantage of me. Ceo is contacted to. I need help incase I get the run around again. The car has someone else's inspection on it 7-19 come back in 4wks. . . What?? day I brought it home. All these suprises!.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

My module control to the transmission went out, I paid to have it replace. Now my car is at Ford because the motor clutch to the transmission needs to be replace, this happened within a week of getting out of the shop for the first time. I can't upload anything, car has been at Ford since June 20.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2019

I recently bought a 2014 Ford Focus hatchback from elliott Chrysler Dodge Jeep in carthage texas not knowing I was buying a vehicle with a active safety recall. Was told buy the salesperson there was no recalls on the vehicle that they are required by law to fix them prior to selling it. And I was driving home 11 days after getting the car and it stalled out in the middle of the highway in the left lane and would not accelerate and the check engine light came on and I was almost hit by another vehicle. I sent the car back to the dealer you tried to give it back to me again telling me that they drove it the check engine light isn't on anymore and we looked up your website to see if the car had an active recall which it did. We refused to take the car back unless they fixed the recall. So they said they were sending the car to excel Ford in carthage texas. That they had called them and verify the recall in which we found out about the recall from the paperwork from the dealership giving us the website. The service tech called and said he called Ford verifying the recall and that the parts for fixing the recall we're on backorder and could take quite a while. A day later elliott Dodge of carthage called us back where we bought the car and said they had the car back the recall was fixed. Along with the piece of paper stating it was fixed but not how. And now a week later if that and the car stalled out again check engine light on and did the same thing it did before the recall was allegedly fixed. Once again nearly causing an accident when the car stalled and will not accelerate. I was just driving down the highway and it stalls check engine light flashes then stays on losing all power and will not accelerate.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Vehicle stalls as if it has lost power. Engine light active. Transmission affected due to vehicle not accurately shifting gears (I. E. Drive to reverse or vice versa).

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

The vehicle idles rough, the transmission slips and the rpms get high in first and second gears, it takes forever to accelerate, the fuel gauge will say 100 miles till empty then die on you, I have been stranded 5 times in less than a year due to that, recently on 2/8/20 the car wouldn't accelerate in the middle of a busy intersection and proceeded to stall in the middle of the road. I had to literally push the car out of the intersection and into a store parking lot during 5pm traffic. I cannot believe this car received a 5 star safety rating, I feel a number of things about this model car and company but safe definitely is not one of them. Doors that have defective latches, opening at anytime, transmission problems leading to cars constantly almost rear ending you, and a car that can stall in the middle of a busy intersection or freeway, is not by any means a definition of the word safe. I will never buy another Ford again, and I will convince any else to not buy from a company that values profits over consumer safety by installing cheap, defective parts and components.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The car turned completely off, engined light would come on and off, the car would stall and while driving on the interstate the acceleration didn't work and the car started moving backwards.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Purchased used on 11/30/2018. While driving on freeway, car suddenly lost power, could not restart, had to pull to side of road and wait for assistance during heavy traffic. Second time, same thing happened hile driving on freeway only I was able to continue at aprox. 15 mph to exit ramp and wait for assistance. Same symptoms during in-town driving: stalling, won't restart, won't shift into next gear- stuck going 10-20 mph, check engine light on took in for diagnostics: obd code p902.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

I took my car in for the issue regaring the recall for "the engine may stall due to a stuck canister purge valve (cpv) within the fuel vapor system" and my second transmission fix within 10,000 miles of the last transmission replacement. The first transmission module fix, my car was in the shop for 19 days. When I recieved my car back, my transmission was shuttering so bad and wouldnt accelerate and was stuck in a gear and would not break or speed up for a couple of seconds. When I tried to take the car back in, they told me that "they fixed the recalled issue so I would have to pay for the diagnostic. " in November, I found out that from may to Nov. I had been driving on a broken transmission clutch. In November, they finally put in a new transmission clutch, however dont have record of them checking for the recall on the fuel system. When I took my car in for work, they told me that it was going to take a couple of hours, then it turned into one to two days and put me in a rental, however didnt communicate with me about the status of my car. I called multiple times a day, however didnt recieve any details from my mechanic. On Saturday, I called again and talked to the front desk agent. I told him that my car was supposed to be done the day prior and I hadnt recieved any update on my car. Later that day, I finally recieved a voicemail stating that they had finished the transmission clutch, however found a oil leak and they "had been doing what best for me" and had been fixing it without communicating to me about it. My car stayed in the shop for an additonal 4 days to fix the oil leak. I ended up being charged for the rental car after I was told that everything was under warrenty and recall so I didnt have to pay for anything. I didnt even know that they were doing this work on my car until days prior. After more than a month, I am still dealing with this problem.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2018

Harsh jerking and shuddering when accelerating. Ford has a recall on the transmission for this problem, yet they refused to fix mine because its 65000 miles. Was never told about this when I got the car (~35000) - would have fixed sooner if I was. Got clutch replaced months ago, fixed this for a little, now the problem is back.

60 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

My car would stall when I was turning or driving, but at first I could turn it off and back on and it would run just fine. Then my car started showing me that I had a full tank of gas when I didn't. I found out that the issue is the gas tank, a $450 fix. These plastic gas tanks are collapsing on itself, my friend had a 2012 Focus and was told that the gas tank was shrinking and that it would keep shrinking until the gas tank was almost completely gone. This needs to be a recall!!!.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2018

The car lost all power and speed on the highway. There were no lights indicating there was a problem and left us stuck on side of the road. Since the incident the car has stopped several times. I also took to Ford dealer where it was purchased making a complaint.

64 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2018

This vehicle bogs down, has low power, and slow acceleration. Does not show any fault codes or service lights. I took this Ford Focus to two different shops; one of them being a Ford dealer. They could not find anything wrong. No part failures. No codes to troubleshoot. They said that they can not explain the reasoning for this by the car seems fine although it has this issue. It makes leaving from a stop very dangerous as the car is really slow to accelerate. It has almost caused two accidents where other drivers arent expecting my slow acceleration. This is common in the vehicles with the automatic transmissions. But my Focus has a manual transmission. So Ford dealers and service support online are at a miss for what the issue would be as the vehicle shows no issues in the health report. After talking to Ford service online they have asked for me to go to the NHTSA and place an official report so that this issue can be investigated as it is not the first. This vehicle has had the spark plugs, coils replaced and still no difference. This is a danger for anyone driving or near this vehicle while driving.

65 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2018

My car is not able to drive in reverse. It is not able to go over 40 miles per hour. It does a jerking while changing gears. It also do this while in park with key in and with key out. Now they are stating it is over $2000 to fix.

66 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2018

When accelerating to around 40 mph, on the freeway, the car started shaking and lost power, check engine light illuminated and the service engine now light also lit up. Took the car to local dealer and they figured cars electronic throttle body (etb) was defective and would cost $370+ to repair. After investigating thoroughly, I discovered this was a defect in more than 1. 6 millon Ford vehicles and told the dealer, but the dealer along with Ford hq advised they would not assist in the payment of the part or repair what-so-ever.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2018

I have had this 2014 Ford Focus since early 2015. I have had problems out of this car since I have had it, with the dealership not ever finding out what was wrong. It started with power train issues which they had issued a recall for and I had brought to them and the dealership still did not fix. The last two weeks the car has begun having steering issues. While I was driving it just locked up and I had to coast to a stop and restart it. It drove fine after it sat for a minute and I restarted it, then three days later would not turn again after I started the vehicle while parked in my driveway and was getting ready to drop my children off at school and then head to work myself. I once again had to turn the vehicle of and let it sit for a minute and had to restart it. It ran okay for another three days. This morning it once again while parked in my driveway will not turn and the steering assist light came on the car. This time it will not turn at all after I have restarted the car several times.

68 Vehicle Speed Control problem

5 speed manual transmission, loss of power at 3k rpm in all gears. This occured on the highway at 60 mph, speed slowly decreased to 45 mph and I was able to exit the highway safely. No check engine lights or warnings. Called dealership and they suggested using a fuel injection cleaner.

69 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2017

Transmission chatters and shudders, and does not shift in correct rpm range (according to dealership test). Ps6 clutch replacement necessary for second time on 2014 Ford Focus. First replacement after 55k miles. Second replacement after another 35k miles (total mileage on car 90k). Since clutch failure is common on 2014 Ford Focus, need Ford warranty extended to cover this expense. (Ford dealership price to replace the clutch is $1341 for 9 hours of labor plus $463 for clutch and $71 for the seal assembly oil. ) clutch replacement is due to mechanical design; not due to normal wear and tear, not due to operator.

70 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2017

While driving on the interstate at about 50 mph the vehicle started to accelerate on it's own and reached about 80 mph in a matter of seconds. The tachometer reached 8k rpm. The rps remained the same even with the foot off the gas pedal and with the brakes fully depressed. We drove the vehicle off the highway with the brakes fully depressed and it slowed to about 55 on the off ramp then accelerated back to 65 mph. The hand braked had to be used and the footbrake was depressed to stop at the red light. The engine continued running at max rpm so we turned off the vehicle. The car was turned back on then the car would not idle it would stall in the middle of the intersection and it did that several times to then accelerate again to full rpm. We were a block away from the Ford dealership so we took it in and the service personnel saw how it was accelerating and even told us to turn it off immediately for safety reasons.
