general problems of the 2017 Ford Focus - part 2

Ever since purchasing this vehicle 2nd hand, it has had "fuel rail pressure too low" and "lost communication with fuel pump control module" intermittently. Attempted to fix with a mechanic, had fuel control module replaced. It occurred again, so had fuel pump replaced. It still randomly stalls out, leaving us in danger on the roadway. Pulling into traffic can be dangerous, since a stall-out would guarantee a collision with on-coming traffic. Engine light stays on when it stalls, eventually will start again, and light disappears. This has been an ongoing problem over the last 2 years. Vehicle can only be used for local driving in the event of being stranded, sometimes on a monthly basis. Recently now, the transmission control module has stopped working and needs to be replaced (as of 3/6/23). Mechanic says these parts are on backorder for 1+ years.

Vehicle stalls after filling tank up with gas either to a full tank or less than a full tank. Vehicle throws code for evap issue as well as manufacturer control. Took to a mechanic where I was told there were multiple issues with the fuel system that needed to be replaced.

Upon stopping to fill up with gas once the gas tank is either full or not all the way full, the car has trouble starting and will stall. The vehicle will begin to run after pressing the gas pedal multiple times with the ignition still on. The check engine light is illuminated. I was made aware of a previous recall that I feel my car should’ve been involved in. The approximate mileage is 95000.

Check engine code shows on dash, when checked by mechanic it leads to faulty canister purge valve. The vehicle shutters and stalls intermittently.

Service engine light is on and code reader indicates the canister purge valve is malfunctioning causing excessive vacuum in the fuel management system. Ford has recalled certain 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles for this. Recall is 18s32. My VIN is not on their list for a recall but obviously should have been. Car idles rough and after refueling is hard to start. . . I have to try 3 or 4 time before it starts.

Purge valve failure causing stalling.

Stalling out repeatedly while driving since I have purchased the car. No issues being read on any code readers. Has happened 12 times in 2 years. Plenty of fuel. Replaced battery even when battery was okay. And has been towed to dealership multiple times. No reason given. No warning lights at all. Now finally I have been given a code after 2 years that there is a very small evap leak. Which the repair shop has informed me is a common issue with this car. Because of this. My car risks stalling out even while driving down the highway when I have plenty of fuel in the tank.

The purge valve keeps failing causing hard starts and uneven pressure in the fuel tank.

Evap emission purge valve Ford has a recall but VIN. Number is not included in the recall.

What caused me to realize my car had safety issues was roughly 6 months ago when my car died at the pump after turning on. It chugged for a good 3 seconds as the dash lights flickered and it stalled. I was able to just turn it off and restart it after 2+ tries, and I wondered if it was too hot or if I put premium in, just playing it off. I thought I let the car get too low on e too, so I didn't think too much about it at the time as it didn't seem to happen for quite some time again. I filled my car all the way full at the first occurrence and mcurrently gets 29. 8mpg. It started being consistently a problem when I started to refill on half a tank of gas or lower. The car starts to work harder and you can feel it wanting to die while I'm driving. The battery light does not stay on or come on the dash after the car starts so I know it wasn't the alternator at the time either. I was parked on a slight incline at under a quarter tank and I had to put my car in neutral and roll start it. It wasn't drastic or anything but the car was being weird and idling hard, but my rpms stayed at normal levels. It just was shaking after starting. That's when I realized that the gasoline tank was not only having issues after I pumped gas. My check engine finally came on and a valve sensor for the gas tank was signaled. The car seems to run harder after starting up and it finally died on me while I was parked and idling. The battery was replaced at 55,643, mi. ; check engine light signaled at 53,000 roughly. - the car is available upon request. - I currently own a 2017 Ford Focus & I bought it certified used from a Dodge dealership in northern kentucky. - it didn't signal any warning lamps or other signs of failure until it hit 5 y. O. And after I refueled my tank. I started to panic because I was going to be late for work and I had no time for this. -my car has been serviced twice to confirm diagnosis; once for a simple oil change & code reader, and then at a certified local repair.

My car has been having on going issue with the canister purge valve causing my vehicle to stall I’ve had this replaced by an emissions approved mechanic and this issue still persists if the fuel isn’t above a half tank of gas it has stalled on highways and put me in dangerous conditions. I have been trying for years to resolve and I can’t.

Recalled for fuel system issue. Issue was fixed at dealership. The issue still persists even after problem was “fixed” at Ford dealership. Gas is not getting to the engine.

Code p1450 canister value vacuum. I had this fixed last year, and it's back. Other vins for this model recalled but not mine. My VIN should be recalled.

Electric propulsion system shut down while driving on westbound interstate 495 in queens county. Stop safely now (ssn) red warning light on the instrument cluster appeared and I was forced to coast down a hill in neutral. Unable to restart car and became stuck in side of parkway exit ramp. Car then had no power with 12v battery going dead just trying to keep radio on. Third time ssn light has come on while driving. First time while actually stuck in traffic that the car shut itself off.

Faulty purge valve. Vehicle began to struggle restarting after each fuel fill-up. When vehicle had less than half a tank of gas, it would stall in slow traffic leaving the driver stranded on the road amongst moving cars. Contacted Ford dealer and was told that this vehicle was not under recall despite other 2017 Ford Focus being recalled for a problem with the purge valve. Upon further research, the recall addressed safety issues that were the same as what we were experiencing with our vehicle. Our local mechanic identified the problem as a faulty purge valve.

11/23/21 with 1/2 tank of gas and auto start/stop engaged vehicle died while stopped at traffic light. Filled tank at station on corner of said traffic light. Car started rough after refueling. Drove 1/4 mile, car died again at traffic light. Drove about one mile, car died while stopped at light. Went another 1/4 mile, stopped at light car died. Each time the battery and other usual icons lit up on dashboard so it was not the auto stop. Disengaged the auto start/stop and car did not die the rest of the way home. This is the second separate stalling issue in less than a week. The code p1450, unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum / purge valve canister was diagnosed. Car to be repaired on 11/29/21. This is a recall for Ford with 2. 0 engines but not 1. 0 engines. As this is the exact fuel issue in recalls and nothing to do with engine this should be covered in the recall.

My check engine light is on, had it diagnosed as p0171, my vehicle has been acting like it's going to stall while driving and consistently stalls after put gasoline in the car. I looked up what the p0171 code meant and it was for the canister purge valve. There is a recall for this problem with the 2012-2017 Ford Focus. My problem is exactly as described by the manufacture in the recall and all the comments on several places where they talk about the exact same issue. I'm worried that my car will stall out while I'm driving it, it does try to stall when stopped at traffic lights. I looked up my VIN#1fadp3f26hl340020 under the recall the NHTSA recall 18v735000, but my VIN# comes up as no recall. I'm having the exact same problem with my canister purge valve as the recall describes, currently I cannot get my car inspected because of this code. I need my car to get to work every day and also my daughter drives my car sometimes too and I'm worried that this car will stall while she's driving it and cause a serious accident.

My 2017 Ford Focus engine is stalling without warning. The engine will cut off totally without warning, anytime, anywhere. This is life threatening. So dangerous also after putting gas in my tank, the car will not start at all and this problem is identical to the cars that are recalled #19s22. My 2017 Ford Focus apparently was build may 2, 2017, less than a month after the recall cut off date of April 17, 2017. My Ford Focus has all the same problems as the recalled Ford Focus 2017. I could be killed driving my 2017 Ford Focus and I shutter to think about what could happen. My car dealership just keeps repeating that my 2017 Ford Focus is not recalled. Unable to get any serious attention about this problem by the Ford dealership or Ford motor company. The fact that my Ford Focus is not included in the really, no one is of any help. I'm reporting it now to you that my 2017 Ford Focus is a life threatening vehicle and needs to be reported as a serious safety hazard immediately.

My husband and I bought a 2017 Ford Focus in April 2017. It had 9 miles on the car. Within 6 months after purchase we had to get the automatic/manual clutch replaced. Then two more times after that within the next year. We still have the problems with that part. Which is recalled but my VIN number does not show it as a recall. Then last year in fall 2021 we took the car in for oil change and engine light on and found out the canister purge valve for the gasoline had failed and needed to be replaced. Which is also under a recall and of course my VIN number shows nothing. My car will not start after I put gasoline in it and I have to push my gas pedal to rev it up then when I put it in drive and to hit gas pedal it dies. So why cant I get these parts fixed on my 2017 Ford Focus when they are clearly a recall. I also have documentation at home and at the dealership where everything has been completed since we have gotten the car.

After fuel up the vehicle will stall when attempting to start and throw codes: p1450 and p0456. As well as try to stall and slower speeds and stops. After the engine light turns on the fuel gauge seems to have an incorrect reading.

My car stalled unexpectedly when I was parking it. For a while now, my car has jerked when I accelerate and sometimes shudders. My car stalled and died a few months back so I took it to the dealership and had it fixed. I soon realized,however, that the problem remained. I ignored it but my car stalled on me again and I had a hard time restarting it. I had just filled my gas tank up when it was running low and drove it for a while when the incident happened.

Check engine light on codes 1450 and 0456. Had dealer repair. It was canister purge value. They have a recall for this same problem with a different build date but stated that mine was not a recall. I still have code 0456 showing.

Failed repairs for recalls on the car. Codes showing in my car are related to the 02 sensor and canister purge valve. Ford has serviced my vehicle before. However, for the 02 sensor only a software update was done. The canistrr purge valve was fixed before I owned the car but potentially both repairs have dailed. Ive contacted two differsnt dealerships and Ford customer service. Theyve all refused to do the work. Ive had to drive my car as minimally as possible.

There is currently a recall on 2017 Ford Focus vehicles for an issue with the canister purge valve, which causes stalling while driving and significant safety concerns. My 2017 Ford Focus has this exact issue. However, when I attempted to schedule a recall service repair at my local dealership, they stated it would not be covered despite the recall and that I would have to pay out of pocket. So far, I have been very lucky that mine has only stalled while attempting to start it and while driving on city roads near my home, rather than while I was on the highway. I was able to determine the problem before I ended up in a very dangerous position. I had been having intermittent issues for several weeks before I was able to figure out what the issue was. However, because they refuse to repair it, my vehicle is still unsafe until I can get it repaired myself.

Every time I stop the vehicle to fill up the gas tank there are massive issues getting it restarted I am being told it is a faulty cpv valve and there are a huge amount of Fords that are being recalled for these bad cpv valves also occasionally happens while driving.

My Ford Focus hatchback is a automatic and can shift into super auto/manual are available. My vehicle staggers, shutters, and shakes once in drive mode. My vehicle also rolls backwards when on a incline if I do not press the break pedal, and if I do not accelerate at all or touch the breaks it will lose momentum and begin to roll backwards if the front of the vehical is inclined. This issue is not solely the manual models my 2017 Ford Focus fwd automatic shutters while accelerating from a complete stop. I checked transmission fluid all levels were good there. My electronic �anticipation� score in my cars eco faqs dashboard is 5/5. 5/5 is the best your score can be. This is a serious issue for not just 2014-2016 but 2017 automatics and manuals both! if you can't accelerate your vehicle without transmission staggering, shuttering, shaking and related issues with driving new to preowned 60k-100k and under vehicles this is very concerning. My vehicle is under 52k miles I got it around 49k. It was brand new one owner before me and the car facs report was detailed on its service history and very well maintained. If my vehic is automatic with eco and technology as well as up to date sync updates thent electronically my vehicle is computing incorrectly and this flex fuel is causing some computer issue with my transmission. If my up to date vehicle technology is causing issues then I can't trust my vehicle to know how to keep me safe. If I need to accelerate but have to press the breaks or let off the gas until the shuttering/staggering/shaking completely goes away then how am I supposed to accelerate to avoid something, to merge and get up to oncoming traffic speed? my anticipation is 5 out of 5 for my acceleration ratings to be the best possible. My vehicle is unsafe for avoiding safety hazards and driving from a complete stop into 1st, and 2nd gear. The steering is great.

I bought my 2017 Ford Focus se with 8 miles on it when it got about 5,000 miles on it my transmission began to shutter. Brought it to 3 different Ford dealerships to be told nothing wrong with it. About 20,000 miles I notice the shutter becoming worst and worst to be told once again nothing wrong with it. Now my car is at 50,000 and anytime it's under the half way mark with gas the shutter become more intense. Still Ford wants to tell me there is no problems.

It wouldn't crank only after getting gas. Amd got worse then strated bogging down when stopped. I notice had to open recalls and open law suit bec Ford put out knowing this issue and so it had 2nd recall. So Ford was suppose to fix issue and anything affected by it. And I took to Ford dealer n bham,al and they where full of it and didn't do anything but out purge valve and the min I left it got lot worse after they where suppose fix it. And said it read code that effected my cadalic converter. And refuse to fix it so I made case with Ford and was on phone 4 hours and Ford kept hamg8nd uo on me for 4 hours and I had give them a ton of some info evey time am so upset now car wouldn't start as well in Ford's parking lot and almost got hit tryj g leave three and never had those issues till they got ahold of it. Am. Furious. And they said they keep it over night fix it then didn't and called n 25 min all sudden and said ilthe purge valve code cleared not that any more it's trash. Ission and I had no singhs of that and it be over 2300 iam so mad and didn't read that on the diagnostic test before I complained them to fix it. Now. I can't drive I need it fix asasp am woman alone and got take care my mom iof lupas andcancer. I want money back r fixed now. Help.

While backing up out of parking spot the car stalled. Additionally at times when backing up the car, it reports low gas or incorrect gas amount. This aligns with a known recall of 18s32 from the same date range and manufacturing plant as my car but my VIN is not listed in this recall.

Canister purge valve is not closing causing check engine light and code p1450.

The engine stalls and shuts off every time I turn on the car every time I put gas now, even if it was not empty it starts to shake and then turns off as if it doesn't recognize it was just fueled. The check engine light also came on and I was told at pep boys there is a problem with the gas valve. Also, the gas meter is wrong, I could be at 25 miles to empty and drive for less than a mile and the counter goes down at least 3 miles less, there was a time the car said I had 8 miles to empty and it literally stopped in the middle of the street almost causing an accident and it would not turn back on until generous passerby's helped me push the car to the nearest gas station about 5 blocks away.

The car has had multiple fuel malfunctions. The first one was the purge valve which I replaced. Now the car is throwing a code for a fuel rail low pressure and stalls out in the middle of driving even when I'm on the interstate. This is very dangerous and I've noticed Ford has the recall listed on other models of the same year but not mine.

My engine light came on while driving to work on a city street around 7:30 am on my way to work and when I got home my husband check the code was p144a for a evap purge valve. After doing some research this is a common problem with a recall just not for my vehicle.

Took my car in for suddenly dropping rpms, it can do this at anytime. They reported it is the canister purge valve.

There is 2,800 dollars worth of work I've taken it in twice for the same thing it comes out worse everytime it was built in December 2016 it leaves me sitting in the middle of the road then drives fine it's crazy I need help it has dual clutch transmission.
