Conducía mi vehículo y la trasmisión quedó en neutro en una entrada y no pude estacionarme y no volvió arrancar solo coje la reversa.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Freestar. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle began to stall. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the computer needed to be dried off. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The contact stated he had experienced the failure several times. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
Torque convertor defective in similar Ford Freestar models eddy's Ford dealership sold recall vehicle as is against state & federal laws and lied to disabled veterans about replacing the defective torque converter after discovery of recall caused piston hole engine block and transmission damage cutting out near dangerous bridge intersection.
Was driving and my tach meter was going all over 3 4 lost all power while driving down the rd. Also trac control is always off goes on and off.
My 2004 Freestar overheats after 70 mph. Replaced thermostat and fans. Does this with ac turned off. I turn to heat on to cool it done. I drove 2100 miles with windows down. This happens on the highway and going up long steep grade.
The indiana alpr tracking system causes electrical malfunctions including the abs brake system and various other unknown malfunctions. The abs module has failed on the subject vehicle and the alpr attacks continue. These alpr attacks are initiated by electrical apparatus on top of telephne poles and on police cars. These attacks can be heard by sudden unexpected loud thumping on my dashboard which could cause an accident in addition to the abs brake system failure. These attacks occur both in motion and when stationary. The thumping is expecially surprising in traffic and could easily cause an accident. Plus, I do not have abs protection on slick roads.
Engine surges in reverse and drive violently almost hitting vehicle in front of me at stop light no engine light or vehicle codes found.
Transmission won't go into reverse and sometimes not in any gear. Engine stops running on highway with no warning. Nearly had an accident, had to be towed.
The third row seating latch has rusted out on the driver side. The vehicle I believe has issues that other 2004 Ford Freestar vehicles have the same issues and were recalled. I have contacted Ford, and they refuse to help. I have 4 children and I fear to take them anywhere in this vehicle. Please help. The vehicle jerks and stutters when in drive whether I'm moving or at a stop light as long as I am in any gear. It only has 85,000 miles and I've purchased it in February.
Whenever it rains or is humid the van sputters, dies, struggles to speed up and shift. My family was nearly hit when our van died in the middle of an intersection during a rain storm.
The 2004 Freestar is shorting out all the sensors are shorting out u took it to be put on machine and it cane back with 17 sensors malfunction going on and it's the only vechele I own and I've googled the problem and I see 100000 other people are having the same problem what should I do I might be driving down the road and the vraje sensor is going and I can't stop I'm not rich I cantvgo buy another van please help me.
2nd time that this has happened. Was driving when the van started bucking/sputtering/surging. It would die and then fire right back up just to do it once again. Soaked pcm connector was to blame both times. This is obviously a design flaw by Ford and needs to be taken care of. I'm glad I was not on the interstate or in the middle of an intersection.
I was driving the vehicle and it was raining outside and as I was driving all of a sudden my car just died in the middle of the freeway no warning ,no nothing just died I almost was rear ended, I took it to a mechanic who said the pcm is not sealed properly and got wet and fried out this is unbelievable that Ford would see tons of these complaints like I have seen online same problems and put people lives and their childrens lives in danger with this poor manufacturing. What can I do ??? thank you brandi r berger.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Freestar. While driving approximately 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was applied and there was no engine power. The vehicle was towed to the contact¿s residence. In 2013, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 12v006000 (power train), but the failure recurred recently because the remedy was insufficient. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,801.
Turns out there was a recall on the 2004 Ford Freestar in 2012 regarding the torque converter. Here it is two years later and it goes out again. This should not happen. There needs to be another recall on the torque converter and it needs to be fixed properly this time before there is a death from the incident. I had two kids under the age of 3 with me at the time and sitting in the pouring rain, in chilly weather, waiting for a ride home was not fun. Fix it Ford!!!.
Car history: the transaxle light has gone before when we travel through vt mountains, but turning off the engine and letting it sit, and restarting it, the light would go off. Upon getting home safety, our mechanics didn't find anything to repair and so left it be, and would only sometimes see it when we traveled through the vt mountains, a few times a year. All recall repairs were up to date. There were no other symptoms. Incident: as we nearing the top of a mountain, the transaxle light came on. Unlike the other times, the transmission suddenly failed to be in the correct gear, so unlike the other times, we were very concerned. We pulled over immediately, and as we reached the shoulder smoke began pouring out of the vents. We quickly evacuated our kids, and as we were getting them out we noticed that there was already fire coming from under the hood, near the windshield, on the passenger side. We are so glad our kids were awake, and able to unlatch their own child carseats, and able to get out quickly. The fire spread to the entire van, consuming everything, at a great expense to us. (and others; our accident blocked a significant amount of traffic for about 3 hours. ).
Driving south on I 75,returning from a week's vacation, in medium Saturday traffic the car started to act up. Lights, warning lights, gauges, even the temperature and compass started flashing and going on and off. There was an exit a mile ahead when the engine died, right in front of a semi. I had to swerve to the side of the road to narrowly avoid an accident. The car would not start after that. I had to arrange a tow and was left stranded for five days. The Ford dealer up north could not get the part for three weeks. Now it's at a Ford dealer here, by detroit, for over a week. They said it will cost over one thousand dollars to replace the pcm. Looking on line I see all the complaints and repairs reported about this car, and you are doing nothing?? after seeing the pcm and the repairs to fix the problem you have to wonder why the brain of the car is in a spot where it can get wet, and why there are holes in the top to let water in? how many problems, accidents,or deaths do there have to be to start a recall????.
In November of 2013, our 2004 Ford Freestar quit working. Yes, we had the torque converter recalled and put on back when they had that recall. November was the first time we had this happen to our car. It was raining, and our car would not go into gear, it quit working. What made this bad is that it was on the freeway! my husband put it into neutral, but we still did not have steering capabilities and managed to get us over to the shoulder. We had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership then stated that many people were having the same issue with the electronics getting wet, so he dried it, then let it set for a couple days and caulked it. We thought that would end those problems. Not. (note: this had cost us 450. 00) then less than 2 months, the same exact thing happens, only this time we are stuck in a shopping center and could not get our car into gear again. We took it back to the dealership to which they replied that we needed a new electric module. How much? $1500. 00!!! in less than 2 months, we spent almost 2,000. 00! this was done in February. Here it is now April and guess what? the same exact problem is taking place again!! we are not alone, there are many people facing the same problems we have had, look around at the boards online and you will see that everyone has the same issues!! some investigations need to be opened or reopened as this is not resolved and lawsuits will be filed if someone gets hurt.
Van started running poorly suddenly, then would not run at all. After shutting down and allowing cool down time, restarted van and it would not go into gear. Ran well in park or neutral, but shifting into any gear would "clunk" and the engine would immediately quit. After 5 days of troubleshooting, traced trouble to engine pcm after reading in on-line forums about it. Found pcm wet and pins on pcm and contacts on wire harness corroded and green due to water leaking past cowl-to-body seal. The pcm connector is not sealed, so if water does drip on it, it is dripping directly onto back side of the contacts and Ford did release a TSB about this issue but not a recall. TSB says to remove some plugs from body (my van is severely rusted in one of those 2 spots), seal around clips that hold plastic cowl to body with silicone sealant and add additional weather stripping on the outer edges of cowl to try to prevent water. I had to replace my pcm. Had my wife been on the highway when this happened, there would have most certainly been an accident or injury.
The transmission is slipping in and out and very sluggish and no power, backfiring and smells very strong of gas fumes. Has been going on for a few weeks. I was driving on the highway and it slipped out of drive and lost power. I had to slow myself down at a pace to turn the van into a safe area off the highway I was traveling at the speed of 60. . Very scary . . . The van would not move. I had the van towed by a friend at the cost of $65. 00 (he saved me a lot of money ) which was not offered back to me from the dealership. . . . I didn't know abt the recall or the pcm problem until I was looking for info on ytube. . I called my dealer where I had bought the van( and it is paid for) when I talked with an advisor he said for me to have it towed to the dealership and they would look at it. I refused to pay for the tow (they did do that at least) he called me and said that the toque converter was under a recall and they would replace that part. . . 3 days later I went to pick the van up and it still wasn't driving right. Still loosing power and gas smell and it felt as if the transmission was slipping still. It was a Saturday and the lady helping me knew nothing couldn't even find my paperwork and had to call the advisor. She said to call him back on Monday so needless to say I tried to drive the van and it just wasn't drivable so I parked it. . Was afraid it might do more damage if I didn't. On Monday I called and spoke to the advisor and he informed me that they only did the recall part as I had requested to be done. He also said the tech told him that the van needed a lot of work. I in return ask why they didn't check out all of the problems and his answer was we did the recall and that's all we can do unless I wanted to pay $100. 00 for a diagnostic . So needless to say my van sits until I can pay or Ford does something to make this right. The ball is n your park Ford.
I have had this van 1 month and paid $8000,its my first car payment,86,000 miles and I am losing power and the water light is coming on the van is jerking when driving this,,I want to learn about the lemon law in michigan.
The pcm internal computer is crashed and cause the veh to run poorly and not start, drained batter, etc - this is an issue with a lot of 2004 Freestars as I read online and was told to submit the info so that maybe they will do a recall and get this fixed. Thank god it did not happen while driving.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Freestar. The contact stated that the check engine warning lamp illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that water was seeping into the connector and causing a shortage however, the technician was unable to provide a remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 150,000.
The car was driving fine all of a sudden the Freestar lost power, I was doing t most 40 mph because it was during rush hour on the i15 hwy by hesperia everything was fine and all of a sudden my car lost power and began to feel like it was loosing power and then I saw it go from forty to slower mpg and I had my foot on the accelerator I immediately pulled over as soon as I could and there was smoke and then there was fire my 1car was burnt a total loss my daughter and I barely escaped with our lives minutes before the van exploded someone had put us in her car and drove us forward saving our lives when the fire department arrived I walked back to my car and the fire had expanded far past where me and my daughter were standing. My daughter is still traumatized by the experience and so am I. We would of been severely burnt or died when the car exploded and everything caught on fire past the spot my daughter and I were standing the firemen could not believe that the fire had been so extensive. We lost everything my daughter loved, all her most precious material things we went from driving on a happy trip to the realization we could of died by the fire. If the passerby would not had put us in her car and drove us to safety.
Van won't start thought it was fuel pump had it towed & replaced cost $500 van starts then shuts off mechanic said pcm malfunction dealer should fix it! help Ford stand by there vehicle! complain.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Freestar. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stopped accelerating. The contact was able to safely coast to a stop. The vehicle was pushed home by another vehicle. The contact examined the vehicle and noticed that the engine seized in addition to the transmission failure. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer, nor had it been repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure and current mileages were approximately 90,000. Updated 04/27/lj the consumer was informed, the transmission could not be looked at, until the engine was replaced. Updated 04/27/12.
Drove vehicle to store, went in to do shopping came out to leave vehicle would start but wouldn't accelerate. Two days before incident it had been raining in grand junction colorado. Had vehicle towed to Ford and was told today that the pmc is full of water! it's going to cost me over 1500. 00 to fix this! what would of happened had it decided to go out as I was driving down the road with my two kids in the car? or when rushing my severe asthmatic to hospital?.
I purchased this vehicle in 2009. Had it in the shop 3 times in the first year for suspected transmission problems while under dealer warranty. Each time I was told there was no issue and the tranny was strong. Have had issues since the beginning. During a recent trip to the grocery store the transmission seemed to slip out of gear with top speeds reaching 23 mph. Luckily I was able to make it home. Parked the van. Next morning when I went to start it, it wouldn't even turn over. I put a new battery in it and it ran. Continued transmission problems. I took it back to the Ford dealer and was told I needed a new transmission to the tune of $3500. They didn't even inspect it. I was told there was a recall but mine needed more than the torque converter so I would be responsible. This is crazy. Ford needs to fix these vans. I still owe on this vehicle. How am I supposed to continue making payments as well as dump another $3500 into the transmission? what is going to go out next on it?.
Came out from work, went to start my Ford Freestar, the car turned on but could not move it. The wheels would turn, attempt to reverse or drive and nothing would happen. Was initially told by a mechanic about the torque converter, then had to replace the transmission.
Fire in engine. Mechanical assessment right now is transmission failure. Don't have specifics outside of that, but I see transmission failures this month by Ford for my vehicle, and I'm naturally concerned.
Purchased used vehicle from marshall used cars in sacramento, CA, where reside currently. Purchased 05/2011, paid full no loan at time of purchase. Purchased add. Ext. Warranty which was 6months. From the dos til present date; I have paid, and was mislead in all the insurance covering major defects, owner(me) had came out of pocket paying for service to fix warranty parts. Now this is the current and serious issue. I am disabled, I have a disable child. My vehicle was reported under VIN to Ford corporate to notate for service to be check and worked on at local Ford dealer. Complained about multiple (4) issues. Dealership mislead me, and did not perform work. Only work they did was replace 1 recall 10/12. After recall service I (owner) recall manufac. Made claim, again and then went to dealer. I was turned away. . . And told to do normal maintenance before putting a service claim in. This is a problem. I am not ignorant to the anatomy of a vehicle. I am very literate on understanding vehicle operations as well as maintaining maintenance. I can say this because I believe I should be aware of every issue so I wont have a disabled vehicle. Vehicle mileage applied from the date recall replaced 5800 within the time til I made another claim in oct 2013. Took vehicle in, told to check everything. Did. Brought vehicle back and vehicle was in service dept for week which rolled over to Nov 1, 2013. Vehicle was dx and found to be the same thing I made a claim about. Vehicle has a defected recall part. Part was not replaced. And owner is now left with a defect recall part, plus more damage on other parts related to torque converter, fuel line, 3rd bench, front r-wheel hub. I have multiple health appts to maintain for me and my child's disability. My children need to get to school, and I missed legal appt dates from court.
Driving on freeway at 60mph the van just stopped accelerating, the rpm acted crazy. We pulled too side of road and would not move in any gear. I have had routine oil changes and maintenance, there was no signs or warning of any transmission problems. Vehicle towed. I have been told my van needs new transmission.
2004 Ford Freestar lost all accelleration and stopped on major roadway. No previous signs of trouble from transmission. Class action filed in us district court August 2010 declaring faulty manufacturing. . . Ford refusing to repair without full payment of $3200. . . . . Current mileage 94,000. How many must get robbed before this is addressed?.
The main engine computer (ecm, pcm, aka eec) constantly gets wet due to a design flaw. Water drips down on the computer and will cause the engine just to die while driving the car on the highway. This causes a very dangerous situation!.
