My Ford Freestar without warning or anything just wouldn’t go after stopping at a stop sign. It was like it was stuck in neutral. But it was in drive. In 2003 and 2004 there was a recall on the transmission. My van is a 2005 but the transmission was manufactured in 2004. Which is one of the years that was recalled so why is my 2005 Ford Freestar van not one of the ones under that recall. Is it cause it’s a 2005 cause the transmission was manufactured in 2004. I almost got hit by semi truck when this happen. Please recall this van. Please help!!! god bless you all. Thanks, patterson family.

Was driving on populated road when all of a sudden car when in to neutral and almost rear-ended if not for quick thinking. Had to have it towed and now don't have any money to fix it so I lost my job cause could not get to work please have this problem recalled like the earlier years. .
Driving down the road vehicle experiences total loss of acceleration it’s like it’s in neutral in every won’t go forward or backwards towed home looked up problem seems that it’s the same as recall for 04-05 models torch converter had I been on highway in st. Louis mo could have been killed as they aren’t known for being the safest drivers it’s my opinion Ford should have to recall every vehicle that had the parts that are faulty in them regardless of the model year if the parts are junk on 04-05 they used the same in 06 models you know they are gonna have same problems.
I got into my van and started it , put it into reverse to back out of my driveway. My vehicle would not move in reverse. I placed it in drive and still no movement . The vehicle won't move on its own at all. There was no problems leading up to this incident.
My 2006 Ford free star, lost it gears in the middle of driving on a busy hwy. I was reversing out of a drive way on to the hwy and went to go into d and it would not move it would only go into first gear. I think this a major safety issue and Ford should be held accountable for it poor design. Me and my children could of been hurt or even worse killed. The hwy is 65 mph an I'm stuck across the two lanes. Because the van wont shift. I looked online and this happens a lot with this make and model. And it not the first time I have lost power well driving on the hwy in this van due to poor design.
While driving my van, it just stopped right in the road. Wouldnt do anything. Wouldnt go in gear or move. Had to tow it to a shop. Turns out the transmission was shot. Needed to rebuild it. Very costly. 3200. Not happy.
On highway going 60mph transmission stop working motor running fine miles not readable.

While driving home one dark night vehicle quit engine revved like it was in neutral. Coasted to a safe area to pull off of road. Vehicle would not go forward or reverse. We were stranded in the dark miles from nearest residence was finally able to contact my son . He towed us home.
Where to start. . . . Every time its raining my van starts to putt and stall out I have almost had 3 accidents due to my van stalling on a main road trying to get home. . . Issue #2. I use my key pad to unlock my vehicle on nights that im working and lately it will unlock then re lock n unlock over and over with out being touched. I was driving down a road and it would unlock and lock. . Its not safe if its unlocking its self and my 2 year old reachs he could open the door while driving. . . Issue #3. . My van says I have 1/2 a tank of gas yet my digital gas reader continues to say 0 miles. .
I have problems with transmission when shift, some times is really hard shifting and also I have problem with battery light in the cluster is always on but the charging system works normally, this happen all the times.
Transmission not working, slipping, like in neutral while in park or reverse. Was driving when the van acted like it was in neutral. Got it stopped. Tried to get it in gear (drive or reverse), but would not work. The car was in motion on street at time of failure.
I left burger king, drove a few blocks to menards, I was just parking when the little wrench starts blinking, I drive to autozone as slow as 30/mph, they couldn't tell me with their little computer what the problem is, the light starts blinking after about half a mile driving.
Was heading down a highway heading home when the van revved up and stopped shifting all together. Only t hing that was there was park. Got it home and was checking to see if it was a tourque converter or the pump. Took a tranny line off and no fluid came out. Pump went out without warning.
While driving 40mph on a city street, vehicle suddenly had no acceleration. It made no sound, and just stopped accelerating. I was able to pull down a side road, and call a tow truck. The van turns on, but as you switch gears it doesn't drive forward, or reverse. It will, however, go forward while in park, if the ebrake is not on, althought it will not accelerate. Van has 78k miles.
I was travel home and had just turn a corner. The vehicle was climbing a low hill and suddenly lost monument. I continue to press on the gas pellet and could hear the engine run up with out the car picking up any more speed. I pull to the side of the road as quickly as I could and as close as I could to the curb. This still did not make the stop comfortable. Cars continue to pass me at 40 ,45 to 50 mph as I sat on the side of the road waiting to be towed to the nearest transmission shop. I sat on the side of the road for an hour, before the tow truck arrived. Their were no sighs of a problem with the transmission up until the transmission stop working.
The transmission and acceleration fail to respond on a ramp to the highway. Switching manually to 1 or 3 won't make a difference. If I go to neutral when it still rolling the gas pedal works. On the other gears it stays at about 60kph, 2000 rpm. I can't gain any speed to merge to the highway, so I have to go to the shoulder, turn on hazard lights, turn off engine, wait a moment and then everything is ok. It has happened always on the same spot going downhill the ramp. At least 5 times. On the area there is a stop light controlled by radio for the main traffic and about 200 meters there is an hydro transformer station, otherwise just regular buildings. I don't recall it happening on another place. I wonder if it could be radio interference that affects the computer and makes it fail to respond and when the engine is turned off, it resets by itself.
I was driving home from work on a busy interstate at 70 mph in the far left hand lane when the vehicle began slowing down. There was now warning. I applied pressure to the gas pedal attempting to keep going with the flow of traffic around me. The rpms rose but no response from the transmission. It was as though the van suddenly shifted into neutral and would not go. Thankfully traffic allowed me to coast over 4 lanes to get to the shoulder. This was Friday evening before memorial day and very very busy. It's amazing I made it to the shoulder without being hit. I turned the engine off and it restarted with no problem. I tried shifting into reverse and got no response from the transmission either. This appears to be an issue with the drivetrain. Ford has known about this problem from other complaints I have seen. How many deaths will make Ford wake up and do something? I was one of the lucky ones. I made it to the side of the road but only because I am an experienced driver. Had it been a teenager he or she may not have made it before momentum was lost. Is it only deaths that will make Ford realize that they have a responsibility to provide a safe product? I have no choice but to try to get this fixed. This is our family vehicle.
Transmission died while driving on a busy avenue, just before an intersection.

Going down a small hill and was picking up speed, let off the gas pedal to slow down. Starting up the next hill and when the gas pedal was pushed I ended up going backward and there were 4 vehicles right behind me. They all were stopping and each turned in a different direction not to hit the other person in front of them. It could have been worse if I had taken the interstate. This happened at about 6 a. M. So there was not a lot of traffic like there is at 7 a. M. In the morning. But if I had not forgotten my billfold, this would happened at a very high traffic time of day when I would have been going home.
Power train just went out while driving on a major roadway. No warning lights on the dash, no indication of slipping, hard shifts, or skipping of gears. I just left a traffic light and it started to go in a forward motion, I came off the gas for a second or two pressed on the gas and the rpm's shot up and no power to the power train. I had to cross over three lanes of traffic to safety.

I was travelling on interstate when there was a sudden loss of motive power with out any warning. Sudden loss of power to the drivetrain increased the risk of an accdent.
Driving on the interstate and the van started to jerk and lose power. If the previous 3 years of the van are recalled for the transmission. And mine went out does the recall need to be expanded? based on some google searches alot of people have lost there transmission do to the torque converer.
We stopped at stop sign, took off and went about 30 feet and it quit pulling. Luckily the car coming down the highway slowed down before he rearended us. We pushed it off the side of the road and had to call the wrecker to bring it home.

I was driving down interstate 295, in NJ mile mark 33 when the vehicle started smelling and smoking. I pulled over and the transmission fluid came out from the bottom of the car. I had it towed to the repair shop and they told me that the transmision was shot and needed replaced and it would cost me $3,500. 00. From what I have been reading online they recalled the 2004 - 2005 transmission for the same problem. I also read that the same transmission is used from the 2004 - 2007 models, so why would it fail for the 2004 - 2005 but not for the 2006 - 2007. I just made my last payment on this vehicle in August of 2013 and the transmission went on sept 2013. I am upset with this esspecially having a van full of children returning from a trip. It seems like this is a problem that should have been recalled a long time ago and not still allow for the problem to continue.
My daughter and I were traveling home from columbus ohio, we were traveling on sr 53. When our 2006 Ford Freestar engine started increasing rpm's. Without any warning the transmission just acted like it was in neural. We were able to get off road but was almost hit by semi behind us. We were stranded on a country road at 3 am. I finally contacted a towing servive and $120. 00 later we made it home. I contacted our local Ford dealer and they said yes, we no whats wrong what is your VIN number? I gave them my VIN number and was told that it wasn't on their list????? it the same problem they know they have but since it wasn't on their recall list it was my respondsability. Thsi van only has 36,000 miles, Ford knows they have a problemand won't own up to it financially. They are going to get someone killed if this problem isn't fixed. How can a company know they have a safety problem and not be liable for their pooly designed transmission.
