2006 Ford Freestar approximately 81,000 miles/ before the incident: I drove about 30 miles on the highway and was driving on a side road going about 25 mph up a steep hill. As I was driving the transmission dropped out of drive. I didn't have reverse only park. Had to push the van into a driveway. I had it towed to the local Ford dealer and was told that the "front pump has no pressure at all/internal failure either front pump and or forward clutch packs. Overhaul of unit not a practical repair. Fluid was full but very dirty and has some metal fragments. " the transmission was replaced with a Ford reman unit. Total cost was $3361. 46.

4 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2010

January 2010 10:30pm while driving with my family (husband, 2 kids-7/9 yrs old) at 40mph up a steep hill, the trasmission dropped out of drive and wouldn't shift. All there was was parkl. Since I was on a hill I was able to back the car into someones driveway and wait for a tow truck. Towed it to the local Ford dealer and was told I needed a new transmission, that the current one was unfixable. I spent $3500 on a new transmission.
