Well after I recieved the recall letter for cleaning of the throttle body, the following week I began hearing a noise as if I was in an airplane when before that was not the case. The I was headed to work one morning and I could not accelerate over 40 mph and my truck started jerking so I immediately pulled over and turned my truck off. I started back up heading straight to Ford service dept. As I'm driving the wrench symbol came on which I had seen but when I brought it up to the service man the day they did the recall, he informed me that it was nothing. Yet, this particular day when I got to them I just left my truck runnimg to make sure he sees and hears what I am just for him to tell me that I would need a new throttle body and I now need a transmission over 5900 dollars that I didn't think was fair. Then he goes on telling me that after this recall they always have trouble with acceleration and transmission problems. So, I asked him why he didn't inform me ? his response was that they only do what Ford manufacturer tells them. . So they should be responsible considering they have been aware of this cvt problem.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle repair warning lamp illuminated and failed to maintain or increase speed. The vehicle was not repaired but was diagnosed as a problem with the converter. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. Rvk.

The car jump in low speed and you have to apply the brakes, this was in direct drive or reverse.

A few years ago our Freestyle started lunging when sitting idle, if you didn't keep you foot on the break at a stop light etc, it would lunge into the car infront of you. We spend a lot of money trying to get this fixed, but it never was 100% resolved. The transmission started acting up this past year, it would only move 10 mph while the rpm was very high. If you shut it off, it would reset after awhile. Took it in and was told that it would take another transmission to fix, approx 5600 to 7500 dollars. After doing some research, it looks like 100's and 100's of people are having the same identical issues and Ford will do nothing about it. The last straw was driving at 60 mph and the transmission just shuts down, almost causing an accident. This car isn't safe and Ford knows the issue, because they quit making the cvs transmission right away. Should be some compensation because this car is now worth nothing to anyone.

I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The vehicle randomly surges in forward an reverse. I have found many complaints online saying it is the throttle body. It seems to happen most often when first shifting out of park to reverse or forward. Happens even more often when air is on. It is very disappointing there has been nothing done about this. This vehicle is supposed to be a safe family car!! it has put my son and wife in many close calls. I hope NHTSA makes Ford do something about this and soon!!.

I have a Ford Freestyle 2005 that has an a/c issue. As I have done some online research there are many complaints. It doesn't stay cool when the car idles. Neither does it cool the car down in the 90-100 degree weather. Took the car to a mechanic and he said it would $1100 to replace the compressor. He said the problem is that you have to get the compressor from Ford and they have a huge back log of orders and they weren't sure when he could get it. I think this problem should be looked into. Online there are many, many, many complaints exactly like mine. Ford should stand behind their product and offer some kind of reimbursement to those of us who own this vehicle.

Without warning, when my 2005 Ford Freestyle is in drive or reverse, it surges and I have to be ready to brake or crash into something. Following the surge, the orange wrench light comes on and I have to shut the car off and restart it, and then it will go away. I took it to the dealer and they said they have not had any other complaints like mine. They scanned the car at the dealership, but there were no codes. They advised that unless I can make the surge happen, not to leave the car.

2005 Ford Freestyle continuously missing out and or lunges. If it's hot out & air is on car will drastically lunge forward or reverse. If it's raining out car misses out while just driving normally & acts as if it's going to stall out when going forward from a stop light or similar situations. There have been many near misses with both type of incidents. Also check fuel cap comes on periodically & goes off for no apparent reason as well. Vehicle has not felt safe for quite some time - but it's paid for. I've read many many concerns with these issues & am shocked that this has not been recalled by now - what does it take??.

While the car is in idle or no acceleration made, at a stop or in reverse, my car will surge, even with the brake on. I checked with the better business bureau, and also with Ford. Com. They suggested I schedule a check up, which I did. I went to the dealer repair service and they were unsure of what to do. One mechanic suggested a throttle body replacement which is 700 dollars, but said he's unsure of how to proceed. This seems to me like a safety issue that should constitute investigation by NHTSA. Especially considering what happened with the Toyota. I searched online and found thousands of inquiries by consumers. Some of which rear-ended vehicles. When will NHTSA take action?.

For the past two years I have had trouble with my 2005 Ford Freestyle surging while in drive or reverse at slow speeds. Again yesterday this happened while in a parking lot as I was pulling into the parking space. This is typical of when the car lurches/surges forward. However, yesterday the car also went into "fail safe engine mode". I have been complaining to my dealership about this incident since prior to the standard warranty expiring on the car. I have also filed a complaint directly with Ford motor company. Since the car does not 'throw any codes' when this occurs there has never been any action taken to resolve the issue although I continue to notify my dealership everytime the car is in for scheduled maintenance, repair, etc. It appears the problem is with the throttle body/throttle body control.

Sitting at a red light and the car lurched forward when foot was on the brake. Almost got hit in the middle of an intersection. Car then immediately went into failsafe mode and would not go over 30 mph. Took it to dealer and was determined that throttle body assembly needed to replaced. Then was told a week later that the part was backordered and would not be available for over 90 days. Dealer then told me it was ok to drive. No way I'm putting my family in this car which could gas forward on it's own as it is a drive by wire system. Many people reporting the same problems. Ford even has a technical service bulletin issued regarding this problem--TSB 05-25-13. Same problem happened to Volvo's which use same parts. Hopefully more reports of this will cause Ford to recall the part! and also after every two fill ups the fuel level sending unit goes bad.
