The vehicle suddenly lunges forward when at a stop. Vehicle lunges forward and stalls.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle jerked without warning. The failure recurred multiple times. An independent mechanic stated that the transmission fluid needed to be changed and the transmission filter replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
When putting car in drive on warm days with the air on the car will lunge forward. I am used to this but my wife got in the car yesterday 5-29-2014 and almost hit a car in the parking lot. Very dangerous !!! read that I am not the only one with this issue. I am the original owner of this car.
This vehicle looses complete power while driving. Runs sluggish and hesitates. . Took it to the dealership for possible recall (throttle body) dealer says not the issue need to replace alternator, and transmission, etc. . Called Ford motor company customer service for assistance to see if this was a known issue.
We own a Ford Freestyle 2005 the transmission has never been quite right, it failed over the weekend and the Ford tech says transmissions are defective but their recommendation is to replace it at a cost of 6600 with the same type of defective transmission. I have done my research and have spoken to many people owners of the 2005 through 2007 Ford Freestyles who have had the same experiences. 75 I have found posted online they replaced their transmissions at cost from 5600 to 7800 only to have them fail again in a short time. Ford should be forced to stand behind their product as we have owned Fords for almost 30 years now and maintain our cars will due diligence this is a defective product. We have both owned Ford taurus wagons which one had nearly 400000 miles on the clock when we sold it still running great! our Ford also has had many occurrences of the throttle sticking under acceleration so much so that it would have to be shifted to neutral to pull over and restart it.
Bought my 2005 Ford Freestyle after 90000 mile transmission started acting up check transmission and engie lights came on after having it in the dealrship manytimes and spending thousands of dollar's fixing parts they come back back after third trip in ith same problem they tell me you have a cvt transmission and we would have to tear the transmission apart to repace the inter seals it would run 6000 more better if you get rid of it but problem is I still owe on it and they want to give 100. 00 trade in.
On Monday, March 17th, 2014, after $3685 in repairs and maintenance, as well as some recall work, and a loan for $5321 for my 2005 Ford Freestyle limited awd (which was just purchased in October 2013 and has only been driven about a month total due to numerous issues), I encountered a problem with my transmission while pulling out of my driveway. As I finished pulling out of my driveway and shifted the vehicle into drive, all of the sudden the vehicle lost power, accompanied by a wrench light and a message on the dashboard saying "service transmission soon. " there was a vehicle driving down the road behind me in the same lane; however, I was able to pull the vehicle back into the driveway in time before the vehicle approached my car. It is my understanding that Ford is aware of the issue with their cvt transmissions and that incidents like this pose serious safety risks for the driver/passengers/others; however, they have failed to issue a recall for the transmission. According to the carfax on my vehicle, the transmission has already been replaced once, so this is absolutely ridiculous that it needs to be replaced again at a little over 142,000 miles. I was quoted about $6500 for a new transmission to be installed by the local Ford dealership; however, I cannot afford this, so I either risk the chance of getting into an accident by continuing to drive the vehicle and having it lose power once again, or I do not drive it at all.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the transmission warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed. The mechanic added a high pressure filter and transmission fluid, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was 103,005.
In drive at 40 mph to 55 mph the car almost stalls and goes I to fail safe mode. In fail safe mode the car runs at 15 mph. The dealer says they can not duplicate the problem.
Me and my wife carpool on third shift to our jobs. Upon backing out of the driveway in reverse, the wrench light came on, and an error reading" failsafe engine mode". I was able to make it to work, however I couldn't go fast at all no more than maybe 40. I'm seeing online many with this year and model need or have had new throttle body's put in with no luck coming from it. I'm hoping there's a recall because I have two children and a wife to get around in this one car. I wanna know what the recall is on it if one at all is available. Why haven't they corrected it yet after all these years of problems and so many complaints?.
Cvt failure. Car would not accelerate over 45 mph and began jerking. Would sit at traffic lights sometimes for 3 turns before car would move. Barely made it home.
Cvt failed at approximately 87,500 miles while my nephew was driving the car. Fortunately, no one was hurt and he was able to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. The vehicle continued to operate for another 5 miles of driving before it would no longer shift into forward or reverse gears.
When idle in drive the rpm's surge by itself and the vehicle jerks forward.
Transmission is going out and can't afford to repair because of ridiculous cost. Seat belt in middle seat is stuck and my children can't sit in that seat because it is stuck. Very unhappy with this Ford buy. I do not feel safe in my family vehicle!.
We purchased a used 2005 Ford Freestyle on April 4, 2013. It had 74,590 miles on it. On October 1, 2013 the ctv transmission began to fail. Check engine and check transmission warnings came on, the car would not accelerate past 10mph, it lurched and crunched at 3500-4000rpms. We made it less than one block before it just stopped in the road. Turning the engine off and back one, I was able to get back to ten mph and limp it back home. Later that day after disconnecting the battery for ten minutes, the car fired up no problem and was drivable until the October 3, 2013 where this action repeated but it didn't even make it a block before stopping. Again, by turning the engine off and back on I was able to limp it home. My husband was able to get it started one more time and took it to the mechanic. After an afternoon of full diagnoses, we were told it needed a new refurbed (so not even new) transmission for $6400. 00! we were able to limp it home from the mechanics while we consider our options. After researching online this appears to be a well known problem with the ctv transmissions that Ford is fully aware of and has no plans to correct. We would like to know what our options are with this lemon! we haven’t even had it for 6 months and it has low mileage. Thank you.
When stopping, idling, putting car in gear, etc. , the car will lunge almost striking car ahead of me. It seems to be worse when the ac is on or if my steering wheel is turned. I usually put my car in neutral while stopping in a drive thru or at a traffic light because I fear I'm going to hit someone. If I put my car in park, the engine revs very high until you turn off the car. This is extremely dangerous!!.
Transmission died out in traffic on interstate 89. Lost power and went into a low gear.
While driving the car the check transmission light came on and the car started driving rough and wasn't shifting properly. Drove car back home. Barely made it home due transmission problem. Had car towed to shop and was told that the cvt transmission needed to be replaced at accost of $7426. Car is only worth $4500. No way am I spending over $7000 to fix this. I can buy a whole used Freestyle for the same price. With all the complaints and failures of this transmission Ford needs to replace these free of charge.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the transmission light illuminated as the vehicle began to decelerate independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Bought it 7/23/2013, day one fine. Day 2, spouse in car, with 3 children, check transmission light, track control light, check engine light, wrench light all came on. . On the highway. Car lost significant power, almost resulting in accident, car bucking and using significant rpms to accelerate . Restarted the car after 3-4 times, lights gone car running smoothly. Day 3, same thing. I've owned it for 6 days! terrified for my family and other drivers with this vehicle. Too many safety complaints on the vehicle/transmission for Ford not to recall. An american company putting americans at risk for harm.
My Freestyle surges and lunges forward and backwards. I hit a car while trying to back up and park because the car surged and accelerated into reverse. This is the second time that I have had this problem in 2 years and needed to replace the throttle body. I almost hit people in a parking lot because of the sudden surge and acceleration. This is extremely unsafe and unpredictable. Needs to be recalled! engine mount was also cracked and needed to be repaired as in many of the other cases in the class action lawsuit.
I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle and I have 137,053 miles on this car had this car going on 2 years. . I bought this car used and still making payments on this car for another year. . . I have problems with a loud humming noise coming from the cvt tranny and my awd malfunction light stays on all the time now. . . And my car surges when going down hills. . . I am on permanent disability and I dont have the money to put into this problem that is Fords fault. . I did take the car to a tranny shop and they said that they cannot fix the problem cause they dont have the tools to fix it. . . I contacted Ford and they said it was the sensor on the tranny that is going bad and for the rest it would cost more money to check everything out. . I dont get this cause Ford knows whats wrong but not fixing the problem. . . But all I know is there is 100's to 1000's of people that they said the same thing to. . I was quoted close to $400 to do this. . . And up to $6000 for a new tranny. . Now the humming noise is getting louder and all coming from the tranny. . . Awd malfunction light stays on and car surges down hills. . . Sounds and problems like that are never good. . Im sure the tranny is gonna fail soon. . . Im not sure what I will do since I cannot afford this fix and a car payment on a broken car. . Ford needs to fix this they put out a faulty tranny its not fair that all of us have to suffer. .
The car had a ctv transmission , on this day after proper maintenance the transmission just broke, it, I believe, was bad design for a trans as witness of Ford dropping this trans after 2 years. I had it towed to a transmission shop in brighton mi, where I was told the cvt was impossible to rebuild and would cost $6600 for a new one, the value of the car in good condition is only $4800, so even though the body was in great shape, the engine was in great shape, fairly new tires and great wheels, I had to send it off to an auto salvage company. They gave me $350 for a car that should have been worth $5000. The trans shop knew about the problem with cvt transmissions, as did the salvage yard, I checked online and there is a long line of complaints about this trans. I believe there is already a lawsuit against Ford for this problem, and I am disappointed that Ford has not acknowledged the problem. I feel I would have paid $1500 to have a trans fixed on this car, even though it should have lasted longer, so I believe I am out about $3000.
I took my car in to be serviced for maintenance (power steering service and transmission service) to the Ford dealership in thomasville, GA. After a few days my 2005 Ford Freestyle started to display transmission data error, check track control, and check engine lights. I called the company and was advised to bring it in and I did. The alerts were not on at the time but the service man jerry and josh told me they would check my vehicle and let me know what - if anything was wrong. They kept it all day and when I returned to pick it up I was informed that it was fine and they re-serviced my transmission. About two weeks later my car started the same thing all over again while in traffic it seemed not to want to pull off normally with all these alerts lighting up after church one Sunday. I called Ford of course they were closed but the next day was Monday I called and was asked to bring the car back in. This time once it started to do the same things jumping in gear and knocking hard this time the service man who answered my call says they are looking for a transmission and advised me that Ford would pay for half the work and parts. I asked if they didn't cause it why would you offer to pay half. The last time they got my Ford Freestyle they gave me a borrowed vehicle and told my husband 4 days later that the car has electrical problems that they will pay none of the repair. I was told twice my car was fine now my husband just got a new job and no way to get to it because I believe Ford damaged my vehicle and refuses to right their wrong. What can I do now?.

When I was reversing out of a parking space my car lunged backwards and then shut off and on my dash board it read "failed safe mode". Then 2 weeks later this same thing happened to me when I pulled out onto a street. I was at a busy intersection and my car shut off again stating "fail safety mode" after 2 attempts to restart my car the vehicle finally started again. When I go into drive or reverse my car takes a few seconds to shift and will always lunge forwards or backwards while going around 2mph-5mph. This vehicle is becoming more and more unsafe to drive. The cost of a new cvt transmission will run me $5500. I contacted Ford about this issue and they made it clear to me that they have not heard anything about this, although there is currently a class action lawsuit pending against Ford for this matter. I also contacted the dealer who I purchased from less than a year and half ago and they are willing to give me $3000 for my vehicle which I purchased for $12,000 and still owe $9,000 for. There is no way I can afford to pay for this repair, especially because my vehicle is worth roughly $5,000 now.
2005 Freestyle sat parked at idle (in parking lot) for approximately 7 minutes. Brake pedal was then pressed and gear shift put into "drive". Vehicle rpm's immediately went up out of control without foot on accelerator. Vehicle quickly lurched forward about 10 feet before brake pedal was depressed far enough to cease the movement. Speed estimated at 8mph. Rpm's continued to increase and vehicle lurched again and travelled about a foot before brake pedal was further depressed enough to cease movement. For about one-half second after brake pedal was depressed, rpms stayed high and then vehicle shook violently and stalled. Dash readout said, "engine failsafe mode". Fortunately, no persons were in front of vehicle during incident. One hour later, same day, vehicle would not properly accelerate during passing attempt. Unknown if this issue was related. The next morning, vehicle would not start and hasn't started since. Vehicle currently in auto repair shop (we've been afraid to drive vehicle and will not drive it until situation is rectified).
Driving down highway at 40-45 and car started making a loud whining sound, a couple of second later speed started decreasing and the the car would not accelerate. Had it sent to a local mechanic (meineke) who explained that the transmission had completely gone out and that the cost of repair would be in the amount of 6498. 00 and that was paying for the transmission ( that they don't know when will come in due to back order) and labor. We have since discovered that there is a class action lawsuit against Ford for the faulty cvts/ however still no recall to fix the repair at Fords expense.

Cvt transmission has issues many lawsuits over this our transmission stop yesterday. Reading the cost of replace and this looks like something Ford needs to address please help!.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the vehicle independently surged forward. Additionally, the contact stated while at a complete stop, she attempted to accelerate but the vehicle would not respond. The contact continually applied pressure to the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Started the car, headed out and "check transmission" came on. Took to the dealer they came up with 2 codes, possible transmission, possible mechatronics. Dealer recommended take home and if/when error messages appear bring the car back. Car was fine for few miles then "check transmission" followed by "check engine" and immediate loss of power. Took car back to dealer (used scanner to clear so I could drive). Left at dealer for them to drive and get some answers. Was told need a new transmission parts + labor around $6500-$7000. With a four month wait due to production back log. Before this happened I loved this car. . Hoping the dealer will work with me on trade in, can not afford a new car!.
My awd malfunction light is on and the all wheel drive does not work.
Engine sputter then failure. Then computer error states, fail safe engine mode. Diagnostic reveals throttle body failure. Common problem according to service department recall pending, why won't u act. Web full of this complaint.
