Says transmission data error check engine and trac control all display and only allow me to drive 20-35 mph some time I can turn the car off and back on and the codes will shut off but they come back on in the middle of the highway what usually takes me 30 minutes takes me an hour and a half to get to some times 2 hours I can't run my ac cuz that over does my alternator and heats my car I've only had it a year and it's been giving me problems 5 months after getting it I have kids and it gets rough going slow in the heat and hoping if I press to much on the gas please help I am broke and have nothing but this car left and I've spent $2000 for people to tell me nothing is wrong with it.
Just got the car and it stalled on me today, accelerated and shut off in the middle of the road. Alot going on iv read other people's comments about the Ford causing accidents I don't want that to happen to me I'm a new driver.
The car stops randomly at times and sometimes will not even startup. Check engine light is on and I recently hit someone in front of me due to jerking or lerching while at a stop light. Very dangerous.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While waiting to make a left turn with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle lunged forward spontaneously. The contact had to release and reapply the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 151,215.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While idling, the vehicle would suddenly surge forward. The failure also occurred while idling with the gear in reverse, and the vehicle would surge backwards. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and spradley Ford (2828 hwy 50 west, pueblo, CO) were notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 170,000.
The car is lunging forward at low speed while braking, this seems to be the same issue addressed in a recall that had been completed in December of 2016.
My 2005 Ford Freestyle speedometer fluctuates on its on causing the car to jump forward and take off slow with very little power it does it when sitting in park with the car turned on and while driving.
On several occasions, my 05 Freestyle lunges forward, transmission is engaged in the drive position and when in reverse, it also lunges. Often when stopped at a light the car will not accelerate. It will stumble all over itself and dies. I've almost been hit on a couple occasions because I couldn't get across an intersection or out of the way. On several occasions while driving, it loses power and will not accelerate. Had a a mechanic look at it. He said the throttle body was gummed up and he cleaned it. It ran good for a couple days and it's back to doing the same thing. The car only has 72310 miles on it. This problem has been going on for a couple years and has gotten significantly worse.
At low speed or stopped while in drive the car lunges forwards. I was at a drive through and it lunged forward almost hitting a pedestrian. Also while driving in a lower speed zone 20-35 (school zones and neighborhood streets) the rpm's start pulsing causing the car to lunge every time.
When not pressing the accelerator pedal and turning the wheel, the car speed up without the drivers intention.
Vehicle keeps jumping. Throttle body.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost acceleration. The contact had to pull the vehicle over, place the gear in neutral, and restart the vehicle. The wrench warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. An independent mechanic repaired the throttle body, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 188,000.
While driving on a city street going 25 and while driving on the freeway going 55, the lights in cluster of guages went out. The wrench icon lights up and all power goes out to the guages. All needles drop. Checked the fuzes. Nothing blown. When this happens the a. C. Also stops blowing cold air.
Car will stall out while idling, accelerating or decelerating (apparently fail safe mode). May or may not start again after shutting off and restarting. Alternatively, engine will roar when applying gas pedal, with no acceleration; or will jolt/shudder while moving from second to third gear. New fuel pump already installed. All electrical connectors already gone over at dealer. Twice new inertia shutoff valves installed. ($800) if this is related to the throttle body, I want to be included in the class action.
While veichle is stationary, the engine revs between 500-1000 rpm. Transmission seemed to have stopped shifting and made the rpm go all over the place. While turning at a slow speed it seemed to make the issue worse. Was told it needs a new transmission.
My car just stops I was told it was the throdel body but fixing it ws only trmparey I have 6 kids in my car at all times it is very scarey I never know when it will happen.
While driving car at night lights on dashboard and instrument panel went out, abs light came on, headlights went out but backup lights came on while car was in drive. Turn signals did not work and radio went out. Car eventually lost all power.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that the vehicle continued accelerating without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.
My Ford Freestyle has begun to surge in acceleration when after I am stopped with my foot on the brake, and then I let it off first to go, it surges ahead or backward, depending on forward or reverse with no pressure at all on the accelerator. Repeat, I do not put my foot on the accelerator, and it suddenly surges forward or backward with no warning, though I can hear the engine and as well as feel it once it surges. This is intermittent, and seems to occur when the ac is on. The mileage is 123,000, and it has happened about 5 times now, but it is intermittent. We were once in many situations: stopped idling at a light when it was time to go, stopped in a drive thru lane when it was time to go, stopped in a parking lot briefly waiting for pedestrians, so basically stopped for at least a few moments---and once while reversing from a parking space. This is a major safety issue. Please reply ASAP to my email: actualideal@yahoo. Com. I will be out of the country and will not be reachable by phone and all messages left on my cell phone will be long since deleted automatically before I would return to get them. Please let me know if there has been anything found on this, since I see a large number of other people on this site have been having problems for a lot of years. This last happened when we last drove the vehicle on September 4th 2016. We have not as yet tried to have this fixed.
Car is lunging forward and backwards.
If we change gears with the a/c on the car lunges when we're trying to come to a stop. It lunges as we're parking or pulling up to a stop sign or stop light. After stopping it will continue to lunge without warning if it is in drive. . . It will even lunge as we try to shift to park. We are afraid we will hit someone walking in a cross walk or hit the car in front of us while parking. During lunging you can hear the engine rev louder. Lunges while stopping and while being stopped. This has been happening for several years. I've read other posts with people saying the same thing happening. Here is one example. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. When the vehicle was placed in reverse or drive, it would surge forward or backwards. On several occasions, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,241.
When vehicle is stationary on the brake it will try to accelerate on its own while not even on the gas pedal in reverse and drive.
When driving down a 4 lane high way the car lost gas pedal check transmission light came on. This could have been fatal. With other vehicle speeds up to 65 mph behind my car. . . Have had several garages look at it and still cant figure out the problem. Now a tow bill labor and other compounding exspences.
My vehicle enters engine failsafe mode in the middle of driving, experiences idle issues and the throttle body is responsible. I don't understand why there is not a recall present - when researching the issue you find many consumers with the same problem. I took my vehicle in to the dealership and they confirmed that it was the throttle body but that I would have to pay for repairs. My children have been put in serious danger due to the sudden engine shut off with no warning at various speeds including interstate driving. The engine failsafe happens while driving in town, while on the interstate, while accelerating, there is no warning or specific pattern.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, all of the dashboard lights would not illuminate and that all of the gadges for fuel, speed and oil temperature stopped working. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 131,596. Ad.
1. Driving car at 45mph. . Came to red light. When pushing a celerator to floor , car suddenly does not respond to pressure on gas pedal. Will not pick up speed. Notice check e gine on display panel and wrench symbol came on and words "engine in failsafe mode" display. 2. When standing still, engine yrunning. . . Foot on brake . Engine idling. . . Car begins to lunge forward, engine revs up when lunging. 3. During 90 degree weather, driving at 55 mph, turned on ac. Car immediately lost power and failsafe mode light came on.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was applied, the vehicle did not pick up speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for various repairs and they were not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
While accelerating up a hill ,felt a surge then deceleration to 25-30 mph. This has happened a number of times. Mechanic research codes and said it was the throttle body. Pe11018.
I purchased the 2005 Ford Freestyle used. Issues: (1) shortly after purchasing the transmission light came on, then I took it to a transmission shop, who replaced the fluid, which seemed to fix the problem. (2) random surges of power, which almost resulted in a few accidents and was severely frightening (corrected before a recall) (3) this past winter problems with shutting the front doors, then with out warning ( with two children in the back sets ) the back passenger door few open when I turned the corner. The children screamed, I was thankful that a child was not severally injured and then, I had call someone to pick us up. I called Ford and was told I was the only complaint! later at a children's recreation, I parked next to a woman with children driving the same model. I asked her if she experienced door issues, she stated both doors flew open with the children in the back seats, and stated her husband lubed the doors down. (4) now the transmission will randomly decide not to move, but if I turn the free style on and off it might go into gear. No transmission light on indicated an issue. My opinion is the 2005 Ford Freestyle was created to market toward families, the design and marketing worked, but as a result several families are now in danger.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Ford freestlye. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the awd sensor light would suddenly illuminate indicating that the all wheel drive system was faulty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the awd system was faulty. No further information was available. The contact also indicated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly loose power and would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 109,000. Jft.
Traveling on hwy at approx 60 mph, wrench light came on, "failsafe engine mode" message appeared and car powered down. Pulled over, turned car off, waited 1 min, restarted car. Message was cleared and car drove as normal. About 20 miles later, same problem, except check engine light and message appeared. Pulled over, turned off car, restarted. Check engine light and message remained. Very low power upon acceleration. Problem continued intermittently. Received engine code p2111, p2112 relating to throttle body problem. Etb had been cleaned 11/13 by dealer per technical service bulletin issued by Ford. No problems until 12/14. Service performed to reprogram etb, no cleaning was needed. Problem recurred 12/23/14. Check engine light is on and no power upon acceleration persists. Codes indiacte etb needs to be replaced.
Own a 2005 Ford Freestyle, v6, 3. 0, all wheel drive, limited edition. I started hearing loud grinding and knocking noises from the cvt transmission. The vehicle will start, and the rpms will increase and decrease uncontrollably. This is the reason the cvt transmission in these vehicles are going bad, malfunctioning, and breaking continuously. The rpms are delayed in the decreasing rpms process, which tells the computer to shift prematurely, or to quickly, causing any internal parts and external parts to be damaged. These vehicles are equipped with a computerized throttle positioning sensor that is attached to the actual throttle body. The computer is sending improper commands to the throttling position sensor, rpms, shifting delay and synchronized shifting sensors. This is putting too much of a load on the gears, bearings, clutches, and other parts pertaining to the functioning of the cvt transmission shifting and everyday use. Ford motor company (as stamped on the VIN and vehicle information sticker inside and on the driver side door jam of the vehicle) should have perfected and or recognized these issues during the manufacturing, testing, and or dino sessions. All vehicle designs are to be tested, diagnosed if any issues occur, and are to be fixed, redesigned, and replaced. Ford should take recognition to the customers and dealers that own these vehicles. People are purchasing these vehicles without the knowledge of possible failure and technical difficulties of these units. These issues can cause the vehicles, especially the vehicles that are all wheel drive, to lock up, brake, break, accelerate uncontrollably, and cause wrecks, fender benders, or more severe injuries, and even the lives of people of this great nation. The united states government will need to take action immediately, before Ford motor company vehicles kill, eliminate, and or decease people.
We were pulling out of a parking lot into traffic on a highway and the wrench light came on and we lost all power to the vehicle. The vehicle had to be shut off and then started back up in the middle of the road. Another incident happened on my way to work and there were cars behind me. I was able to make it to the side of the road to start it back up. The third incident happened again on my way to work and then the engine light illuminated and when I had it checked the codes p2104 and p2111 came up. The thottle body was stuck opened and in a bind. I was almost hit during the second incident and feel that this is a serious safety issue. I am glad that I wasn't on the interstate going 65 or 70 mph. The car almost came to a complete stop on its own in the matter of a few yards.
