general problems of the 2007 Ford Freestyle - part 2

Vehicle had surging problem I all most got hit,and I was so afraid couldnt drive home my husband had to come get me, I reported this problem before,I paid to have throttle fixed at Ford some people getting their money back but I havent heard anything, now the cvt transmission has gone out this is really sad I paid 32,000 in 2007 for this car now its worth 1,000 and I still owe 5,000. ,transmission stop in the street with me in it had car pulled to Ford that how I found out its worth 1,000, I am retired its taking all my money, I still have my receipts went to doug stanley Ford 515 north I-35,desoto,TX 972 223-8050 July 28,2011 invoice 361136,customer #230683 (please help me)I am on the city bus,with a car at home I cant do anything with.

Our 2007 Ford Freestyle with 63,000 miles on it has be surging for about 8 months now and the problem is getting worse. My wife almost hit a child in the school parking lot one day as the car lurched forward without warning. She applied the brake and the called stalled. The problem seems to be related to the throttle body control system. I am shocked to see that there are numerous issues with this same problem that I describe here. I see many people have had the car repaired only to have the same problem happen again very shortly. Shame on Ford for not recalling the cars with an updated and safe design. Toyota paid the priced dearly and so will Ford. . . Its too bad someone, or many people will get killed before the problem is fixed. This an ethics problem for Ford.

Ford Freestyle 2007 throttle control causes surging which is very dangerous. I have this problem. You should read the internet on this problem and you will find many complaints. Do you have the balls to go after Ford to have a recall on this problem. Probably not. There are long wait times for this part. Please help the consumer because that is your job.

Beginning in July 2008, I have taken my 2007 Ford Freestyle to the dealership for the same problem four separate times. The issue is that the vehicle surges/lunges when the brake is engaged. This surge/lunge happens in drive and reverse and it is random. Experiences: 1. At a stop light, car surges forward. A friend of mine borrowed my car to pick up our kids at school, even knowing of the problem, he ended up in the middle of the intersection, 2. In a drive thru, the car surges forward, 3. In the morning I open the garage door, start the car, put it in reverse, take my foot off the brake and it shoots backwards. The first two times the dealer could not recreate the problem. The third time they were able to recreate/experience the issue and informed me that the throttle body is where the issue is originating and that the valve was sticky. So they cleaned it and sent me home. I have been having the same issue again and it is getting worse. So I took my Freestyle to the dealer and they informed me it is indeed the throttle body and that it is a one piece unit and the components are not working together, that is what is causing the issue. They did say that the part would have to be replaced for $570. 00, unfortunately the part will not be available until mid August; unfortunately, that is the date for the other units they had ordered for other cars with the same issue. They are not sure if they will cover the cost since the vehicle warranty is expired! my concern is that this is a safety issue, someone could seriously be injured. My 6 year old son, once came to greet me as I was pulling into the garage when I arrived home from work and the car surged forward. Thank the lord I am aware of this issue and was ready for it to do just that, so I was able to stop the vehicle before it hit him. I am afraid that it will take someone being seriously injured or killed before Ford does something about this issue. And I do mean Ford motor company, not the dealer.

On very hot days, the car will lurch forward when put into gear the first couple of times.

We purchased this vehicle new 8/18/07 from palm coast Ford. In may or June 2010 I began noticing the car lunging when backing out of parking spots or once you have backed out and then placed into drive. I also encountered an issue with the car stalling if parked on an incline. On 7. 5. 10 the vehicle was left for several days with palm coast Ford for diagnostics and they claimed nothing was wrong with the car as they could not duplicate the "issues. " as this "issue" did not seem appropriate I visited the daytona beach Ford dealership but this was not a documented visit as was the palm coast Ford visit. The daytona Ford service manager indicated it was a just the way the car was designed to prevent stalling when backing up or pulling forward. So I lived with this problem hoping that it wouldn't lunge and hit someone in a parking lot. My brother finally rode with me and said this is not correct so I took the vehicle to a non-Ford repair shop who recommended a tune-up be accomplished. This occurred oct. 25, 2011 and corrected the problem. However, now whatever they accomplished with the tune-up is now wearing off as the vehicle has begun it's lunging problem again in the past few weeks. That's when I researched and found these incident reports so I want to report my problem to help you document there is definitely something going on with this make/model car. I like my Freestyle but there's definitely an issue with the lunging situation.

Not long after I purchased the 2007 Ford Freestyle, summer came and I was using the air conditioner a lot. I noticed that when the ac was running, especially at high, the car would "lurch" forward at low speeds (probably 5 mph or less ). When I was parking the car, rolling into a parking space, with my foot hovering over the brake pedal, as soon as I got to the proper spot, the car would "lurch". When I would back out of a parking space with my foot hovering above the brake, it would "lurch". This proved to be a scary situation many times as there were cars passing in the parking lot. Many times, I could have hit another car. Even in the drive through of fast food restaurants with other cars in line, many times I have almost hit the car in front of me. Many times, my car has "lurched" and stalled. The wrench light comes on, and if I don't turn the car all the way off in park, the car does not behave properly (as in no acceleration) nor does the wrench light go off. In the beginning, I thought it was something to do with the air conditioner being on high. The problem stopped in the winter when the ac wasn't being used. However, in the summer of 2011, it all started again. My ac went out, so I had it worked on. The problem continued. Today, the problem continues. I almost hit a child in a parking lot the other day because my car "lurched". I began searching and found that others are having the same scary problem with their Ford Freestyles. It sounds as if I am maybe lazy or not too concerned since I haven't had this checked earlier, but frankly, I don't have the money to spend on repairs, so I keep hoping it won't cause a disastrous situation. Please investigate this issue before it does become deadly.

I was backing my wife's car in and it started accelerating without me pressing the gas, actually my foot was on the brake thank goodness. We promptly took vehicle to Ford dealership and they said it was the throttle body, and that it needed to be replaced, and of course it was supposedly not under warranty. Then they charged me $900 to fix it. I have since done lots of research online as well as in person and have come to the realization that there are thousands upon thousands of this same complaint for the 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle. I have also found that almost everyone who has had a failed throttle body has had multiple failed throttle body's as well as a/c compressor failure.

I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle sel with approx 91,000 odometer reading. Over the past 3-4 months we have noticed the car surging and lurching forward after coming to a complete stop and without any depression of the gas pedal whatsoever. Several times we have almost collided with vehicles in front of us at intersections. We have definitely learned to "cover the brake" at intersections. This also happens when the car is in reverse backing out of the driveway, for instance, and stopping to shift into drive. The car will surge or lurch backwards and if you are not covering the brake while in drive or reverse, the car will accelerate without touching the gas pedal. This happens every day now approximately 5-10 times. I took the vehicle to bob moore Ford in oklahoma city and the mechanic diagnosed this problem as a bad throttle body. From my research, this is a widespread problem with this make & model vehicle. I believe this problem may very well lead to a serious tragedy if this common problem is not recalled. The part for my vehicle that was ordered on Aug, 11th is not under warranty but on back order. Bob moore Ford contacted me on 8/21/10 to advise me that they could not get a shipment of this part due to it being back logged and that they were not slated to get the part until the end of August.

I own a 2007 Ford Freestyle on the 13th of August my car started to lurch while driving & then the wrench light came on, drove car to repair center mechanic came out and looked at the car, mechanic had his foot on the brake put the car in gear & engine would rev with out gas pedal being touched & car would lurch, repair shop kept car to so they could hook it up to the computer & run their test, next day the called & said it was the throttle body (part # is 5f9z-9e926-b) & said they could order the part expedited and have it in 1-2 business days, that was the 14th of August, after the 18th the service manager started checking on the part today is the 24th and we still have no response from Ford as to when part will be available, as part is on back order, have looked online & there seam to be several complaints about this throttle body part not working right & people having worse driving experiences then I had.

Car accelerated in reverse almost hitting the vehicle behind the car. This has happened a few other times. Also in forward. A warning light came on and I drove directly to the dealer. They said it needed a new throttle body part, but won't be available until December!! car is not drivable and is sitting at the dealers service center.

Throttle body needs replacing on my 2007 for Freestyle car has less than 40,000 miles. Car surges when driving every 5 minutes or so. Tool bar light goes on dash I pull over turn off, it resets and happens again 5 minutes later. Ford states my warranty doesn't cover.

97,000 miles. I have replaced the throttle body twice, new transmission- hole I n the drive shaft. 3 rear brake jobs- the 1st on was by recall. Cracked motorhead 12,000 miles after new transmission. The whole car shakes, squeeks, and pops since the transmission was put in. From the cv joints and back brakes.
