1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2019

When driving on city street at 45mph the car jolted excessively once and then went out of gear untill it slowed to 30mph and slammed again violently and rpms went up to 5000 which maintaned my speed at 45mph at that time the wrench light came on and as I was coming to a red light it jerked forward while I was braking almost hit a pedestrian in crosswalk. At green light I attempted to accelerate but the car moved slowly untill it reached 25 mph and then went out of gear while I was on the gas I tried to put it into low gear to get going so I could pull over but it didnt respond as this was happening a desiel truck had rear ended me totaling the car I just bought a week prior. . Its very unsafe car for this transmission is apparently plagued with this problem for so many others I just hope it dosent take even one death of another life before this problem is admitted and recalled to fix. So many depend on their car as I had depended on Fords slogans built Ford tough . . . Yeah built to get us nearly killed I say. Thousands of dollars lost in the car purchase and lost work and medical bills I may not recover from. At least I didnt die and am thankfull for that. But I will never look at Ford the same way as my nightmares consume me with the reoccurring details of my near death experience I had operating this Fusion se.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2019

My 2006 Ford Fusion jerks violently while attempting to accelerate or brake. It does not accelerate at times, it instead just revs my rpm gauge. It has happened on the highway going hwy speeds of 60-70, as well as going 35 mph on a military base. It bumped while braking at speeds less than 20 mph as well. Ford needs to issue recalls on this vehicle because it is absolutely unsafe, especially for customers with children. The amount of complaints similar to mine is appalling, as Ford still sees no responsibility over it.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2016

Wrench light appeared on dash and while driving the car on the city streets the car has a sluggish start and then a bit of a burst and then light power as I accelerate. Also I have had to change door handles and locks 3 times since I have purchase. The handles just snap off. The car will unlock but I have to manually lock most locks and open the car by putting down the window.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. While accelerating from a stop, the vehicle's speed increased very slowly and shifted abnormally. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage on the rebuilt engine was approximately 90,000 and the vehicle failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2016

Vehicle after warming up and put in gear will only move forward very slowly takes several minutes before I can get a acceptable forward motion. Can not go in traffic as car only moves at a very small rate of speed. Eventually it will go into the normal mode for driving car forward. .

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2015

When pressing the gas pedal to accelerate to merge on to the highway the car jerked and then will not go anywhere the motor just reaves up. Until you pull over and turn it off and restart it is the only way to get it to move again.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

Was on the freeway in traffic. Car starting surging and was hard to keep it in a stopped position. Once traffic started flowing, I stepped on gas and would had no power could not accelerate past 20 miles an hour. Car was towed to shop. Dealer said it was the throttle body. I researched and Ford has had this problem on their cars, but said mine is not included even though I fell into the 10 year under 150,000 miles. They said my VIN is not covered.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2015

My 06 Fusion has been shifting funny, but I didn't know what it was. While having my oil changed, I had a 6 point inspection done, and nothing came back except my tie-rods needing replaced. One night, while driving home, suddenly my car had a hesitation when shifting into second gear. It would rev up to 3 rpm, then shift hard into 2nd gear and run fine. Two stop lights later, the shift began to get harder. I finally made it home, but later had to run an errand. The shifting got worse. Now, it was as if I was about to get a neck injury from the shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I realized that I needed to get home, because it was too late to go to the dealership. When heading to work the next morning, the wrench light popped up on the dashboard. Living only 7 minutes from work, I thought I was fine. But now, I no longer made it to 2nd gear. It stayed on first, and remained revved up to the point it was losing power. I was scared that I was going to get stuck in the middle of the road. Now, with my vehicle in the shop, I'm being told that the transmission needs an overhaul. The cost is $2800. When is the recall going to come into play?.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2015

When driving the wrench light comes on and the car looses power. I can't accelerate. If I pull off the road and turn off the car and turn it back on it fixes it. Sometimes the check engine light comes on after that.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

While driving on the suncoast pkwy at 60 mph my vehicle suddenly slowed to only 20 mph causing me to be a road hazard. I was nearly killed by the other cars in the flow . It was a frightening experience.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

Vechile is hesitant to start and get up past 5 mph and engine light came on. Took car to local pep boys where they placed it on engine machine. Per pep boy car through throttle body stuck open code. Local dealer closed dropped car off for look over. Dealer confirmed Monday that throttle body is stuck but state that this vehicle is not a part of current throttle body recall. . . Im writing this here so if Ford should decide to cover this at a future time I'll be able to file for a refund.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2014

Was driving down a busy highway when the car just chugged and died. The tool light came on after it failed to go by giving it gas. This is the second time this has happened to my car. I took it to my Ford dealership and it turned out to be the throttle body. I am very upset and being a women I had no idea how to handle this situation when it happened. It has cost alot of money to replace and it is very dangerous. Is there a recall on this part ? if so I would like to know about it.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2014

Trying to accelerate onto highway, vehicle would rev up to limit 6k and slam into gear causing tires to spin and almost lose control. Have to park and turn off vehicle to resume driving. Others time car would just lose momentum and rpms go very high but no movement. Again, park car turn off and resume driving. Was told by many mechanics that this is a tranny problem in this model Ford. Cost of $2,000 to repair. Seems to be very common and am just logging my records incase Ford finally acknowledges it.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

Coming off an exit ramp at approx. 35 mph I felt a jerking/stalling feeling as I merged into freeway traffic where the speed limit is 65 mph. I viewed my instrument panel and found the wrench symbol illuminated. Acceleration was sluggish briefly, but after awhile acceleration seemed to return to norm. All the while the wrench light remained illuminated for an approx. 25 miles. Once in a safe location I turned the car off and waited approximately two minutes before attempting to restart it. Upon restarting the wrench light was no longer illuminated. I drove the car another approx. 10 miles to make it home and the wrench light is no longer illuminated when car is restarted. This all took place in the midst of a snow/sleet storm. A drive that typically takes approx. 45 minutes took approx. 4 hours. I called the service department of my local Ford dealership and understandably I found that they had closed and reopening the next day was/is in question due to the weather.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2013

In 2013 I experienced a loss of speed/power on my 2006 Ford Fusion. I pulled into a parking space at a shopping center and turned the car off. When the incident happened the wrench light and the traction light where lit on the dashboard display. When I started the car back up the lights were off on the dashboard and the car seemed to run fine. I did not have another incident until 2014. This time the check engine light came on as well as the wrench and traction lights. I took it and had a diagnostic done and was told it was the p code indicating the throttle. I drove the car back home and looked up the p code and found hundreds of complaints regarding this part. It was also being said that this part was defective and that Ford had issued a 10 year extended warranty (from time of purchase) on the part. Again, after starting the car the next day it was running fine, no check engine light or any other lights on. It ran fine until June 2015. At this point I had had enough and called the Ford dealership where I purchased the car. Mind you, my car only has 51k original miles. I made an appointment and dropped it off on June 24th, 2015. I was called that day and told that Ford would not be covering the throttle body because my VIN# was not one listed. I questioned this because the information I found regarding the warranty for the part didn't mention specific vins only. The service person stated that they would fix it but only if I paid for the throttle body part and labor. I picked the car up today, June 25th, 2015 and paid a shocking 788. 94 for this part and labor and the 39. 99 oil change and tire rotation special. This is insane. I was not in a crash or wreck however it did surge and drop speed to 20 miles an hour with cars behind me slamming on breaks. When will Ford decide to do the right thing and cover the cost of this part/repair, when someone is killed?.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2013

I was traveling on a local highway behind a slow moving traffic at 30mph. A car let me over in to the left traveling lane, as I pushed down the gas paddle to accelerate my car jumped several times and made a popping sound. . Read more...

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2013

Today while traveling down I-40 with my children in the car my Ford Fusion revved up to almost 5 rpms and started jerking I stepped on the gas and nothing was happening just revved up and then finally jumped into gear. At that time we just about got rear ended by two vehicles that was behind us on the interstate running between 55-60mph. Im very concerned about the 2006 Ford Fusions transmissions and believe this problem needs to quit being over looked. As of today I have been doing some investigating myself and apparently everyone that owns a 2006 Ford Fusion has had a similar incident, l have read forums and just googled and a lot of people are having the same experiences. I just want something done like a recall I believe that would be the right thing to have done. One more thing I had no idea my Fusions transmission was even bad never had my car do anything like it done today. Thanks.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2013

At first I felt on previous day slippage at slow uphill driving and some starts. Huge bang like the bottom was falling out of the car. Like I was rear ended. Then on July 6th while on flat, dry 4 lane at 50 mph it felt like it slipped into neutral and the engine revved up. I took foot off of accelerator and it went back into gear. I had someone elses child in my car. This is dangerous. I am in the nc area to have surgery and staying at a friends house. I am disabled too. I cannot in anyway afford to fix this. I was a Ford employee when I got this car. I love Ford. Only heated seat and lumbar problems that I can't fix either. I would like a recall and help to fix this. Please. I have no place to live and my car is all I own. Please help. Thanks.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

I was going home on highway (65 mph) and the traffic started to slow down and so I put on my brake and lost my power. It was in limp mode. Fortunately, I was in low speed lane and could get over to the side of highway and managed to pull off. After 5 minutes I was able to restart car and get home. The throttle body had to be replaced. This is a safety concern. I feel I was very lucky I did not get slammed into and someone did not get hurt.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

My 2006 Ford Fusion with a 3. 0 v6 and automatic transmission has had the following same issues over the past 18 months: - loses power at city, highway and parking lot speeds without warning . . . . At least a half-of-dozen times - engine still idles/runs rough, but will not accelerate beyond 15-20 mph - wrench light indicator comes on, (sometimes engine light too). When I turn the engine off and restart the vehicle, it will operate fine most the times. It has done it repeatedly a couple of times. The wrench light indicator will go off after restart, but the check engine light will remain on for a couple of days then go out. - Ford claims that the 2006 Fusion is not covered under customer satisfaction program #13n03 which covers newer Fusions and other Ford models. Ford advise to have the repair made and they will reimburse customers of the repair expense at a future date, if Ford should ever issue a csp program for the 2006 Fusion. - I have had this happen at highway speeds on interstate highways and rural highways without shoulders to pull over. This is obviously a dangerous situation and needs to be rectified ASAP. - I have had several incidents where I was almost hit from behind due to this issue and it's just a matter of time before someone is seriously injured due to this issue. My research shows that this is an ongoing problem for people with certain Ford products. - Ford. . . . . Due the right thing and make it right for all!.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2013

The vehicle jerks when changing gears or entering overdrive at higher speeds, sometimes very violently, occasionally resulting in complete loss of power until car is shifted into neutral and back into gear. At low speeds vehicle has very rough gear transition when braking.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

The transmission is bad in the car. The 2006 Ford Fusion was purchased brand new and the extended warenty expired, the transmission went bad. What makes it so bad is that the car only has a little over 46000 miles. So many people have submitted complaints and I want to know what is Ford going to do to correct the problem and reimburse us at least some of the money that we had to pay for the transmission.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2012

Driving on freeway 70 mph when all of a sudden there was nothing when I pressed on the gas. . . Felt like it was in neutral. This car was purchased on may 29,2012 for our 16 year old daughter. Thank goodness I was driving the vehicle and not her. Very dangerous!! we didn't know Ford Fusion's had transmission problems; we never would have purchased the car in the first place.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

I am having throttle body issues with my Ford Fusion (2006) the problem was first diagnosed in 2011 and again last year , both by two different mechanics/body shops (one was a Ford dealer). I saw about a month ago on my local news of consumers who are having the same issues (throttle body, car loses power without notice, etc. ) I emailed Ford to ask about repaor or even going half on the repair for my vehicle as my household is unable to afford it due to loss of income/job. I was told there is nothing they can do or will offer however, "certain" people are getting their repairs taken care of. For it to make the news this issue is a big deal. I brought it to Fords attention to let them know that its simply not the newer model cars that are experiencing this mine, as well as a friends Ford (2008) have the same problem.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

Car equipped with aisin f21 6 speed automatic transmission. When the automatic transmission down shifted there was a loud clunk and the car slowly came to a halt. The engine rpm increased as I tried to get the vehicle to move off to the side of the road. After shutting the car off and restarting it was able to get me home. The next time I drove it, it was fine for a while and did it again. Took it to the Ford dealer and was told it needed an new transmission control valve body. I asked if there had been problems with this transmission in other Fusions and they said none that they knew of. In looking on the internet I find that this transmission has been a problem for many people from the years 2005-2010. Check service bulletin put out by Ford # 08-24-1 publication date Nov. 13 2008. I am sure there are other service bulletins also. Many people have had their vehicle stop on a very busy highway and have been put in danger because of the above problem. Since Ford had been aware of this problem they should have had a recall to correct it in the interest of public safety. Thank you.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the key became stuck in the ignition. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that the problem was with the software not reading when the vehicle was in park. The contact stated that the door locks also failed as the failure occurred. The failure and the current mileage was 44,000.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2012

I was accelerating as I was entering/merging onto the highway. The vehicle jerked violently and stopped with a loud thud. After the sudden stop, driving on the highway was erratic, meaning the rpm and shifting was all over the place. I exited as soon as the next exit was available. Then, even though the vehicle was in drive, it went "out of gear" and I was unable to propel the vehicle forward. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The dealership stated that the valve body of the transmission would need to be replaced. This is due to Ford TSB due to part of the transmission that is defective. Refer to NHTSA #10021277. If I had been merging into traffic or if I had been attempting to cross the street and the vehicle will not propel itself forward in the manner I expect, it could lead to serious accident. Please have Ford recall this part for all such vehicles so no one gets injured or killed.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2012

Car has multiple issues with hard revs of the transmission. It has caused me to have to slow because it feels like the entire car shifts so hard that it is gonna break apart. Car now does not even rev. Reviewed hundreds of complaints online about same problem with the 2006 Ford Fusion and nothing is being done. It is horrible! something needs to be done. There is no recall and even after replacing parts on the transmission or the entire transmission as hundreds have said they did, the problem still occurs shortly there after!.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2012

Hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. Just want it fixed. ## VIN failed ## Ford, Fusion, 2006 ##.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the driver's side door handle detached from the vehicle. Prior to the failure, the vehicle also failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who confirmed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted regarding both failures. The vehicle was not repaired.
