Driving down a hill and the brake went all the way to the floor and almost couldn't stop, had everything checked with the brakes and fluid and everything was fine with brake fluid level, brake pads but nothing has been remedied to fix this problem seems to be an abs module and there have been many complaints about this problem. To take it to a dealer and have them fix this ongoing problem with this make and model would cost around 2,500. 00. My car only has around 50,000 miles on it and I am the only owner who is 72 years old. Problems need to be taken care of quicker with recalls also because I'm still waiting for my airbag recall and that has been for a year now and when I call or take my car to the dealer for them to fix the recall and get a rental car which I also got a notice that I was eligible to get, the dealer will not give me a loaner car nor do they even know of when the takata airbags will be replaced. Hopefully no one gets killed because of this recall. I don't know what the holdup is but, I don't appreciate getting a recall notice and wasting my time taking my car in for it and then being told they don't have the part. For it. What piss poor service our auto industry is sinking to.
My father owns a 2007 Ford Fusion for about 5 years. About a year ago, he began experiencing soft brake pedal issues. The brake pedal did not have pressure and go all the way down the floor. The braking distance is also poor. The car travels significantly farther and takes longer before it come to a complete stop. My father took the car to a local licensed mechanic for a routine brakes service. The brake pads and brake fluid were replaced but the soft brake pedal and poor braking still persisted. The mechanic did research on the vehicle and found that our issue is consistent to a known issue in the 2007 Ford Fusion antilock braking system (abs) hydraulic control unit (hcu) brakes system. My father said the brake issues occurred after the abs came on after braking on an un-even surface. The mechanic said he does not have the expertise to perform the tasks and recommend us to file a complaint.
Between 55-65k the brake pedal became soft/mushy and sporadically would go all the way to the floor/firewall when trying to stop; sometimes rolling through a stop sign or a traffic light. At first, it was sporadic; then, the brakes needed to be pumped every time before stopping or the car would continue to travel as the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor/firewall. Eventually pumping the brakes did not work and I had a mushy brake pedal with no brakes at all that would go right to the floor and the car would not stop. I had new rotors and pads installed and bled the brakes but this did not correct the problem. After researching and diagnosing the problem I bought and installed a used hydraulic control unit from the identical make, year and model as my car. I could not afford a new unit at $880. 00 dollars plus tax and dealer installation $$$$. The brakes worked fine after the used hydraulic control unit was installed. The problem is that after an anti-lock breaking event a valve in the unit remains stuck in the open position and causes the soft breaking.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while coming to a stop on an uneven road, the brakes were unresponsive when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact pulled over to the road side. The contact mentioned that the brake had to be depressed multiple times before it became responsive. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. Jo.
I noticed that my rear brakes were making noise on 8-25-08. I brought my car into the shop to get an oil change and have the brakes looked at. I was told my rear brakes were metal to metal on the inside pads. I needed new brake pads and rotors. I brought the car to the dealership since I only have 25,000 miles on the car and they replaced the rear brake pads and rotors but could not figure out what went wrong. I was then charged $310 to have them replaced. My front brakes are only worn down 10%.
