1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

This isn't an incident. I just want to report that Ford motors will not replace the hydraulic control unit that is under recall for my 2008 Ford Fusion. They will only replace cars that are 15 or less years old. My car has 117,000 miles on it. Far less than the yearly average of 14,000 miles. If this truly a safety issue, then I feel that my car should be serviced under the recall. I chatted with the Ford customer service rep and he informed me that it was safe to drive, but he did tell me to take it to a Ford dealer (of course) and that I would be financially responsible for the repair. So I own a vehicle that is under a recall, but since it's 1 year past the 15 year ownership date, Ford will not repair it under the recall. Thus any Ford owner that owns a vehicle that is older than mine is also out of luck thank you for taking the time to read this and maybe encourage Ford to do the right thing. My car should not be any less safe than a 2010 car.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2024

The dashboard has warped. The seems on the dashboard around the passenger side airbag cover have become partially unattached to the rest of the dashboard and have caused an opening above passenger side airbag that may allow for debris/dirt to enter into safety equipment and could potentially lead to serious hazards to person if airbag unit deploys. The plastic vent and sensor under the windshield located in the very top front of the dashboard has cracked and has also become dislodged and lifteb from dashboard housing and can pose safety issues if in a collision. There is also some notable brittleness arising in the dashboard material. The warping of the dashboard and its components pose strong safety concerns and a risk to service departments doing recall repairs for manufacturers. There are many similar vehicles produced by this manufacturer during this time that have had same dashboard failures and at the very least it was been the root of stress anxiety for owners and repair dealerships.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2023

I just bought this car and the brakes do not feel right when I go to stop. They are new and I got them changed today and it still makes a pop noise.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2021

The passenger side airbag is bulging from the dashboard causing the widows to fog. Also while driving parts of the dashboard flew off which could result in injury or death if this issue is not resolved promptly.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

The number 16 transmission fuse would blow and then the car wouldn’t start until you replaced the fuse and now it’s not even starting when the fuse is replaced.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

A recall was issued for our 2008 for Fusion concerning the abs system. This recal is NHTSA 19v904. We have recieved postcards from Ford motor company concerning this critical defect in the brake system numerous times in the past 2 years, this problem has not been resolved and I feel the car may me unsafe to drive daily. The master cylinder has been replaced to try and remedy this problem over 2 years ago. Still, brake travel and fluid has lost pressure many times since while driving. The local dealer , nor Ford motor company, will not comment on the recall nor the repair that is needed and estimated time this will be.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Dashboard around the airbag and defrosting agent is bulging and coming apart. I feel that this would be a malfunction if the airbag were to be deployed causing serious injury or death.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2019

Takata inflators- been waiting for years for Ford to replace. Safety issue for passengers.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2018

I was driving home from campus and my suspension started acting up. It started firing up and down and fluctuating a lot. I had to pull off the highway and take backroads. It was still acting up the entire time. The "check engine" light and "wrench" light both came on simultaneously. I could barely go over 35 mph without the rpm flaring up past 5000 and it felt like my whole engine was going to give out. Even when I was going 20-25 mph, it felt and sounded like I had the pedal to the floor. The aaa guy who towed my car said that I had the same transmission part number as a 2010, which got recalled for faulty transmissions. My car only has 40,000 miles on it so there is no way I should be having issues with the transmission unless the part is faulty or it is something I am unaware of.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

The door handles keep breaking. They are made of junk plastic and I have had to replace 3 out of 4 door handles and the driver door 3 different times now. I also have a friend with a 2012 Fusion with the same issue. Please recall these crappy parts Ford!.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2018

When the abs is engaged, brakes go soft/are lost. This has happened 3 to 4 times so far. So when the abs activates, I lose about 80 percent of my braking capability and have to push the brake all the way to the ground for it to even slow down the car. It does not even stop the car, it just slows the car a little bit. The car then needs to be restarted for the brakes to work again. The most recent incident of this was in washington DC. The abs engaged on a city street and the car rolled into the intersection because the brakes failed. There was no collision but only narrowly.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

The department of motor vehicles has contacted me about my 2008 Ford Fusion it has a recall with the airbags that could kill or seriously injured or me or any of the passengers if it deploys, my airbag light stays on I bought it at ontario sales in lockport new york, when I bought my car the people had already told me that there was a recall on it and I should be getting a letter in the mail that was about a year ago 2017.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2018

Dash board is warped. Took it to the dealership where I was told that they no longer had the dashboard. This dashboard is so warped it is an issue to the airbags.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2017

"takata recall" the door handle on the care is broken which enables me to get out of the vehicle. Which to me is considered a death trap. I have to roll down the window and open the door from the outside or have someone open it for me. My air bag is also raising out of the passenger side. This scares me. On hot days I fear that it may just explode due to the heat. Which may be a hazard to others and I.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

My dashboard is separating from the car. It is getting so bad that now it is separating from where the passenger air bag is at. The other issue is that I have in the passenger door an imploded airbag that has caused a bubble in my door. My car has not been in any form of accidents for either of these items to occur. As for my airbag that has been on recall for 21/2 years and has yet to be handled, yet my brother in law and my cousin have both had their cars fixed (not Fords) which makes me wonder what the issue is.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2017

This past week my car has been driving rough (sputtering) and seems to notice it more when driving on the highway but there are times while driving on city streets you can notice it (hear it and feel it) too. My tires are good, last year already had the pcm (major control module) replaced ($2,700) along with all the coils and spark plugs, and also pcu replaced and replaced my hcu ($1,500). So what the heck more can go wrong with this car. Trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with this car now.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

Takata recall: the airbag is opening. Also the long bar on the dashboard close to the front window, the left side has popped up. There was no accident!.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2016

While driving on light snow covered road the brakes would not stop the car. The brake pedal became very soft and had to pushed to the floor to stop the car. It continued for many more minutes before regaining pressure. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the brake booster and master cylinder, $1500 later still having issues.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

My cars abs light goes on and off and sometimes when pushing the brake pedal it is soft and I have to push it hard to stop.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

I just had a wreck got hit on the left front side of my car I notice that my airbag didn't come out on the other cars they did.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2016

The check throttle light came on. Then like about an hour later after driving my car won't start while driving on a city and I pressed on the gas it was having trouble pulling off then when I got home it just completely shut off.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

The drivers side door handle has broken once again. . . I replaced it last year and had to again this year. . . This is a safety hazard: as if I was to be involved in a car accident I would have to roll down the drivers window to be able to open the door. To my understanding Ford has recalled a few of the newer models due to this issue. .

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2016

Air bag is lifted on passenger side of vehicle & the ceiling is coming down in the rear window. Both serious safety issues.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2016

The ceiling cloth material located above the rear window is falling down which is now a safety issue, I am not going to be able to see out of the back window soon.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The dashboard is bulging it doesn't look good and it doesn't feel safe. I wonder if it would activate correctly at an impact during an accident or if it would activate while riding down the road. It started on the right side passenger and it has slowly moved to the left side driver. This started happening over 2 years ago and it's slowly become worse. Ford needs to be held accountable for the fix this is cosmetic but it also is functional with the airbag right behind it where it started.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Dash on passenger side is pulling away from air bag, was so bad you could see the foam underneath. No recall dealer will not fix, I refuse to purchase a whole new dash. Used gorilla glue to hold it down, with the heat up here in far northern California it's starting to pull away again. Also due to the heat up here the defroster vent has broken and popped out of the dash. Using glue to hold it in place as well.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2015

Drivers side door lock became inoperable. Drivers side door will not lock using the lock switch or the lock button on the key. The only way to let yourself out from the drivers side is to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. The only way to lock the drivers side door is with the actual key itself. This is very inconvenient and dangerous I feel if I were in an accident. Also, my 2008 Fusions air bag on the passenger side dash is starting to lift away. Anything to due with my family's safety is a big deal! these things are dangerous and need to be recalled and fixed!.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2015

The dashboard had begun to slightly bulge and has now peeled away from the passenger side air bag. After researching online, this appears to be a very widespread issue, of which Ford has no remedy in place for except replacing the entire dash. For a car with relatively low miles over the course of ownership, this seems like an issue that should be corrected. I have no way of knowing how it may affect deployment of th air bag, and I'm not sure I want to find out.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

The dash pad surrounding the passenger side airbag is bulging upward.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

The chrome on the interior driver door handle is peeling away on top creating a razor sharp edge. This sliced my finger.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2015

Passenger door latch/lock broke, unable to open door from the inside. I have own this Fusion since 2008 this is the third time a door latch/lock has broken. The previous two times have been on the driver side, first time mileage was around 40,000 second time was around 80,000. Believe this can be a safety issue is the car is into a car accident or is force into the water the driver or passenger would be unable to escape the car.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2014

Driver's side interior door handle failed and would not open door. Had to power window down and open from exterior. Would be a safety issue if person needed to exit vehicle quickly. Noticed there were several complaints under both "latches/locks" and "structure" that were the same or similar. I didn't check other model years, however since the failed part fits several other model years I would think there would have been many other complaints on this issue.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

I cannot exit the vehicle driver's side using the inside door handle. I have to roll the window down and then open the door with the outside handle. This problem has occurred on its own. There was no accident or anything like that. It just stopped working one day. I have been on line and other Fusion owners are experiencing the same problem and have contacted Ford as I have and Ford won't do anything about it. I feel that this is a serious problem in that, if I were in an accident, and the battery cable got cut so there was no power to the vehicle, I would have to climb over the center counsel to exit the vehicle through the passenger door if it didn't become inoperable in the accident. I would assume that this problem could also occur with the passenger door as well so I'm not feeling all that safe at the moment. I'm going to spend the money to get it repaired, but in today's economy, some people couldn't afford that.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

Dash board is curling up around the passenger side air bag. The front window defrost vent is coming out of the dash board . We have had the door handles break in half replaced . This is a safety issue the dash could come apart at any time or the passenger air bag could go off? w/ the front window vent out of the cut out in the dash this part on the driver side up could pop up and cause the window to break .
